Lord God, according to Your Word, where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint. O Father, help us Your children in this Nation, and help all of our American Heroes to understand that we have no power of restraint or self-control without Your Word made alive in us by Your Holy Spirit! How long will we turn Your glory into shame, O Lord? How long will we love delusions and seek false gods? Expose the delusions and false gods in our life, O Lord, and set us free! Lord God, we pray You will give us the desire of our heart, which at this moment is to be free. Make all our plans succeed.

Father, in many ways we have been like the prodigal son, squandering our inheritance on worthless living. Yet while we were still a long ways off, You saw us and were filled with compassion for us. You ran to receive us back into Your arms. We have come to You to confess our sins against heaven and against You. We have felt unworthy to be called Your children, But You celebrated our return to You and desired to put Your best robes around us and Your ring on our finger, Because of Your great mercy, You've received us back as Your children not as servants. We felt dead, but now we feel alive again! Amen.

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission.
