Pope: Mary is always in a hurry to help us (first pastoral visit to a diocese in Rome)

(Vatican Radio) Early on Sunday the feast of the Holy Trinity Pope Francis made his first Pastoral visit to a Diocese in Rome. The Parish of Saint Elisabeth and Zechariah gave the Pope a rapturous welcome as he arrived by helicopter to celebrate Mass and administer the Sacrament of Holy Communion to 16 children.
The Pope addressing the children and the congregation present underlined the importance of praying to the Madonna. Mary, the Holy Father said is always in a hurry to help us, teaching us to understand God. She was there, the Pope added, to help her cousin Elizabeth when she was expecting her baby and she is always there when we need her.
The Holy Father also focused on the theme of the Holy Trinity during his Homily telling the parishioners present that The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are one. The Father, the Pope explained is the principle figure, he created everything, he created us. Jesus, meanwhile, said Pope Francis is the saviour. He came down to earth to give his life for us. Lastly, observing the importance of the Holy Spirit, the Pope said, he loves us.
The Christian life the Pope continued means talking to this Trinity. The Holy Francis also said it is the he son who walks with us. The Holy Father described how Jesus gives us the strength to carry on our journey even in difficult times; he is never far our side.
After greeting the many parishioners following Mass, the Pope returned to the Vatican by helicopter for the recitation of the Sunday Angelus.

Mary is not a diety, but that doesn't mean she can;t help anyone. We all help each othger. That's what it means to be a member of the Body of Christ,as St. Paul so eloquently preached. St. Paul is a member of the Body of Christ. So is Mary, so are if you, if you are a Christian, and so am I.

So is anyone who is not a "dead branch".

Those in heaven are also united to God (1 Cor.13:12; 1 Jn. 3:2) and are alive to Christ (Mk.12:24-27; 1 Cor. 15:22). God is God, not of the dead, but of the living (Matt. 22:32).

We are all in living contact in Christ.

We only ask her to pray for us.

Do you ask your own mother to pray for you? Why not ask the Mother of Jesus to pray for you?

After all, wasn’t Mary the first intercessor at the Wedding of Cana? Didn’t she ask/tell him “They have no wine.”?????

Always our intercessor — not a member of the Trinity.

She passes our needs on to Jesus and there are always three answers from him “Yes”, “No” and “Not now.”

So, I ask, why don’t you let Mary help YOU?

That's an excellent insight! And in the broader sense, we all may have some role in History of God's redemptive Love, in that we are co-operators with Christ in each others' salvation.

We are also models for each other, and Mary a very good model indeed --- much better than Eve, whose disobedience Mary helped to overturn with her obedience. Mary didn't say a lot, but one of the biggies was, "Do whatever He tells you."

All of us can join Mary in that.

I think most of the confusion here comes from the misunderstanding of the word "pray." Its earlier, legitimate meaning, still used by the Church, is to "implore" or ask." Shakespeare uses it this way all the time ("I pray you, do not fall in love with me") and the U.S. judges and lawyers still use it this way ("Therefore the petitioner now prays this honorable Court...")

In this sense, you "pray" to another person every time you ask the waitress for a cup of coffee. Though where in the Bible does it say you can pray to waitresses?

No Christ redeemed us. That is repeated over and over in scripture. He reversed both Adam and Eve’s actions...not just Eve.

Christ’s redemption is on the basis of his blood sacrifice. He died in place of us. No one in the history of the world will ever do the same.

There is only one redeemer. Anyone claiming to be Co redemptrix is a false God.

Which has nothing whatever to do with necromancy or the prayers of Christians already in heaven. James 5:16 does not empower Mary to be omnipresent and omniscient in order to answer the billions of Catholic prayers in the world. That’s God’s job.

The bible, whose books were written during a period when Mary died, in the 1st Century, make no mention anywhere of Mary’s death and nothing to presume her “assumption”.

Yet, suddenly, with no other record, in the 5th century, in 431 and again in 451, at two different councils of Bisops, to two different presiding Roman Emperors, came the claim that Mary was presumed to have been “assumed” because, it was claimed, her body was not found in her grave.

Like Yeshua missing from his grave, you would think someone, like Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Timothy, Peter, James or even Paul would have not only known of such a momentous event, but would have commented on it. But, no, they didn’t.

Why?

It’s not a Christian belief from the 1st to near middle 5th century. It’s a 5th century pagan adaptation for a pagan Roman empire and its beliefs about G-ds and saints.

The rest of Christianity leaves the role of Mary to G-d and scripture and does not presume there is anything else needed to know about Mary in service to or understanding of a proper Christian faith.
