For two thousand years, he has been worshiped and adored. Multitudes look to him each day. And yet nobody really knows the face of Jesus. That has not stopped humanity's imagination, or its yearning to draw Jesus as close as possible. So when this Christmas season brought a torrent of debate over whether Jesus was a white man, it struck a sacred nerve.
"That statement carries a whole lot of baggage," said Rockwell Dillaman, pastor of the Allegheny Center Alliance Church in Pittsburgh. "Political baggage, spiritual baggage, emotional baggage. Especially in a culture like ours where the relations of white people to other ethnicities has often been marked by injustice and distrust."
Why should we even care what Jesus looked like? If his message is God and love, isn't his race irrelevant? Some say God wanted it that way, since there are no references to Jesus' earthly appearance in the Bible. #But the debate was a reminder of just how difficult it is for anyone to transcend race even a historical figure widely considered to be beyond human.
"I find it fascinating that that's what people really want to know what race was Jesus. That says a lot about us, about Americans today," said Edward Blum, co-author of "The Color of Christ: The Son of God and the Saga of Race in America..."

;)
What does ‘white’ mean (or cover)? Is that everyone on the planet that can pronounce the word ‘ask’?
My boss has been and will always be a Jewish Carpenter.
Jesus was Nordic, I’ve seen his pictures with Blondish hair and blue eyes. He looked very different than the features found in the Mid East. More Thorish, than Arabicish. LOL.
When a lib smugly says Jesus wasn’t white, I just say he was an Israelite.
Discussion of color ends, seething begins.
Being descended from King David through Mary, Jesus was a Hebrew, and therefore a member of whatever race Hebrews belong to.
Scientists have proved that He looked like a crazed Neanderthal.
As an aside from, I saw a nativity display yesterday with a seriously blonde Mary.
C'mon!
lets see... he was born in the middle east and known to be jewish...
um.... Was he Amish?
More “profiling” from the liberal “progs”.
If you Google “black Jesus”, guess who comes right up in the results.
“It was the gospel of the coming Kingdom of God.”
Thank you, in this time of socialization, moral degradation and silencing of Christians, it is good to be reminded that we know how this story ends. You’ve made my Christmas day better FRiend.
He was white as sour cream, spoke King James English, and drank Welches grape juice!
Which means he was English!
What was the race of David and Abraham?
Probably the dominant genes:)
