KISS star Gene Simmons says sports reporters hold morally upright athletes like Tim Tebow to a different standard that those who find trouble wherever they go.

"It's interesting to me that media often picks on the good guys and lets the bad guys get a pass," says Simmons, the entrepreneurial rocker who recently expanded his empire to include a professional sports team.

Guessing that dog fighters and murderers in the NFL are much better citizens than somebody like Tim Tebow. Pretty disgusting. Thank you Mr. Simmons.

I read that about 10% of NFL players have been or are in trouble with the law in some way.

These players get a pass, but, a man of faith such as Tebow becomes a target of derision and ridicule.

Why aren’t all these athletes who beat up girlfriends, drive drunk, and get in fights in nightclubs the targets of derision and ridicule instead????

Those players can play their positions. And the man of faith, while being an upright individual, was a less-than-mediocre quarterback.

Tebow was criticized for his lack of talent, nothing more. When it comes to religious faith, nobody was more open about his beliefs or more willing to credit God for his success than was Kurt Warner. Nobody hassled him, nobody criticized him for his faith, all for one simple reason - he was a termendous quarterback. Tebow is not. That's why Warner spent 11 years in the NFL and Tebow will be lucky to start for the LA Kiss.

The left hates people with morals and especially Christians. They see Christianity as being in the way of creating their perfect, blameless, guiltless, utopian society.

Same thing with Christians and Islamists.

Good guys and Christians won't cut your head off if you insult them.

I don't think that Tebow's lack of talent is what led to his treatment in the Jets locker room.

And the Jets' offensive line didn’t help any quarterback demonstrate talent.

Tebow was correctly criticized as a poor passer - but was also criticized for kneeling in prayer on the field ("Tebowing") ... which I don't recall Warner doing (at least, not as rgularly).

The MSM is corrupt and they hate to report on people that are morally and socially like themselves; its like looking into mirrors.

I think Tebow's treatment in New York was due to a coaching staff who didn't know what to do with him and a QB who had just signed a huge contract and had to be started regardless. Tebow was in a no-win situation that was not of his making, and didn't have the talent to make the Jets find a place for him.

My own Chiefs have players who make a trinity sign with their hands once they score, a field goal kicker who points skyward with every successful kick, and a host of other players who are not shy about expressing their faith. Nobody criticizes them for that. Again, the difference between them and Tebow is that they have the talent to play at the NFL level and Tebow does not.

If, or when, Michael Sam fails in the NFL it will be for the same reason that Tebow did; inability to play his position at the pro level. And his supporters, like Tebow's, will blame his failure on everything but his lack of talent.

My own prediction is that he's a late camp cut or, depending on injuries, makes the team as a backup. He may kick around the NFL for a few years but he is not a starting caliber lineman.

How many people even recognize it? I'm not sure I would.

a field goal kicker who points skyward with every successful kick

A smaller, quicker, and more ambiguous move than a kneel.

But all obvious signs of their faith and their recognition of God as a source of strength. None are criticized because all are talented players. Tebow could have held communion in the endzone with every touchdown, and if he threw 30 of them a season then nobody would have cared.

But all obvious signs

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

Dawg, you are probably right about Sam’s future in the NFL. But I bet you would agree that ESPN and most all of sport’s social commentators (and let’s face it, almost ALL sports news and reporting has become pc social agitating) will spin/lie/mold the Sam story.

the reason is simple

religious bigotry

anyone that bashes Tebow is guilty of it. it’s also at the core of Palin bashing
