“That was a big cut and paste - and brag. The widow who gave two tiny mites never told a soul and Christ said she had given more than the others. So while everything your post named is good, that isn’t the basis Christ uses to evaluate giving. Others may give substantially less and it will count as more - and there will be no accompanying clanging gong.”

Do you misunderstand everything as thoroughly as you misunderstand the application of the widow’s mite parable and its application to the building of schools and hospitals?

I agree. We were visiting Rome, and there were beggars, whole families of them, with small children, homeless & hungry, all around the vatican. The Vatican is filled with trillions and trillions of dollars of art. They could sell that stuff and get enough money to house and feed all the homeless in Italy. But they just put the money into the buildings. We go to a church that has plain glass windows and folding chairs for seats, and it has the warmth and beauty of a loving caring church.

Jesus showed his disaproval of the riches of the churches, he turned over the money changers tables. He was against the organized big churches of his day. So they conspired to have him killed. The priests had him killed. They knew he wanted them to change their evil ways.

What were "money changers," and why was Jesus angry with them? What do you base your opinion on?

If Jesus was against "big churches," why did He found one? Or do you mean that he opposed large buildings of worship? If so, what is your evidence?

It appears your post is simply an ad hominem attack on me. Perhaps you should reread the parable.

“It appears your post is simply an ad hominem attack on me.”

You can’t conjure up wrongdoing just by throwing the phrase “ad hominem” around as though it meant anything you want it to mean.

“Perhaps you should reread the parable.”

I understand the parable. Unlike you, I can apply it correctly to real-world situations.

Here’s a start for you: the Church is the supernatural Bride of Christ, not an individual person making a donation.

Well, you tried. I give you credit for that.

Yes, I led the horse to water, but I couldn’t make him drink.

“Yes, I led the horse to water, but I couldn’t make him drink.”

The horse of truth doesn’t drink polluted water.

What is this, “Start the Revolution Without Me?”

“I warn you gentlemen, I am not to be trifled with. To pull the tail of a lion is to open the mouth of trouble and reveal the teeth of revenge biting the tongue of deceit.”

Thank you. It has a beautiful acoustic, too.

We have chamber music and choral groups lining up to rent it on weeknights.

Boy Howdy! We are talking about the good news of getting back to more traditional looking churches and here come all the Non-Catholics chirping away. Then they go about saying oh we don't hate you!

I don't feel the love. I am going to look for the most noncontroversial article I can find. I will post it and we will time how long it takes these people to jump in and bash.

Well, I thought all of Buffalo was the snow belt! But now that I think about it I do remember the south is said to get it worse. I actually miss the snow a bit!

Apparently they do not understand that the Parish is our home. We belong to our Parish. We all kick in as we can to fund the Parish. Every Parish I have ever belonged to we had a separate building fund. It's not like everything else gets neglected so we can build a new Church building.

There is always that anonymous donor that puts it over the top. Every time. Time, Talent, OR Treasure.

They are some SORRY sad sacks, aren't they? Sad that they have so LITTLE in their life that they have to bash my religious practice. That's pretty low, innit?

I THANK THE LORD that I don't know them, they aren't my neighbors or bosses and I don't ever have to communicate with them again...ever.

You don't "feel the love" because they CAN'T give you what they don't have in their hearts.
They STALK us Catholics, waiting for the chance to show us their "feelings." They better be careful because now I have to PRAY for them! THAT'LL SHOW'EM!!

Lord, have mercy on all those Catholic haters who ridicule your most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. Please cleanse their hearts of all hatred, let them know your love and patience and bless their loved ones.
And BLESS defconw and his loved ones.
Amen.

Thanks for your support.
