I’m thinking this priest should have spoken to the mother privately.

The older I get, the more I don't care for pants (but I know what you mean).
There's an older oriental lady at daily Mass who wears loose colorful 3/4 length skirts all the time (and gymshoes!), and she's really been an inspiration to me. I actually went out and bought a couple skirts, cheapskate that I am.
Off course, here, but one day when I was standing behind her in the Communion line, I noticed she receives the Eucharist on her [slight] tip-toes. My husband said maybe a particular saint she knows of did the same. Would you know?

There are sports, though, and its almost impossible to wear a dress while swimming laps. :) You could always order appropriately modest swim wear for your girls from this place:
Or if she plays soccer, she could always wear something like this.
No. Wait. Those look too much like leggings. Cant have that.

Funny. Actually, at the pool where my daughter was a guard, the Muslims told her to go home, that they needed a male there to guard their “private party.”

That’s kinda my point.
In High School we had to dress out and wear our Cheerleader uniforms to school every Friday. But no one ever said anything to me about that.
I’ve worn corsets as outer wear several times and the only comment I got was a girl asking me where she could get one like that.
The only time that I had anyone say anything to me was before I went into my corset phase, when I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt all the time and got told I was flaunting myself. How was I supposed to know that Hello Kitty on an oversized t-shirt sends certain men into lust-filled frenzies? I thought it was rather innocent.
How is this different from having women cover up from head to toe just like muslims?

Maybe the person wasn’t talking about dress, but was talking about behavior.

Silly question of me, but thank you for responding. Maybe I should just ask her. :)

My take on this article:
1. The priest should have spoken to the mother privately, not to a 14 year old girl with discussion of sex.
2. Shorts are not appropriate to wear to a religious service.
3. Just because a woman dresses in a sexy manner, is not a justification for men to act on lustful thoughts.
5. To make women dress in a certain manner in order to prevent men from having lustful thoughts is the same reason Muslims force women into burqas.
5. Leggings can be quite cute- especially paired with a tunic top that falls midway on the thigh- paired with boots. Quite stylish, and no different than wearing stockings.

Actually, let me suggest that you take this up with a godly, spiritually mature woman who has been generally discipled in all phases of the life of w girl or woman that Jesus indicates pleases Him. That is the function of older women teachers. See Titus 2:3-5, 1 Peter 3:1-6, and 1 Timothy 2:9-11.
What these Scriptures say, in a non-negotiable way, that those outside The Faith will take it that the immodest person, male or female, will cause the Word of The God to be blasphemed,
< Is that what you want?
In becoming a Christian pleasing to God, in discarding the the world' acculturation and entering the culture where Jesus Christ is Lord, you will be both figuratively and literally be putting off the old worldly person and putting on the customs and appearance of the new, distinctly Christ-centered person.
This process is non-optional. To refuse it brings your own belief structure into question as to whether you are realy saved. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

The purely natural response of a healthy man to a healthy teenaged girl’s displaying her ... um, health ... would be to want to make a baby with her. This is how the human race has survived all this time. I don’t know why Fr. Carota imagines that the hypothetical man would be moved to sodomy at the sight.

No Father Carota is not joking. His church is located across the street from a drug/prostitution house, so he views the dark/sleazy side of the world daily. But how many women receiving abortions (do you think) did NOT entice their sex partner via provocative clothing. And most of these men reacting through lust do not want to take care of any baby.
