“I have known many good Catholics who have a deep love of Jesus Christ. Where you see mere religion I often see a true faith and love of God. Their lack of ability to express themselves in proper theological terms should not be taken for a lack of the love of God that is in their hearts.”

I believe this is true. Salvation does not come from love of God.

“And like you, I could name a number of Evangelicals whose faith and love of God are merely superficial.”

I agree 100%.

“I would suggest that you read some of the lives and writings of the saints to learn how deep the faith of Catholics can be.”

The issue is never about what is felt, though feelings and devotion are good. They never save and this is what Salvation is about. Giving eternal life to those who take the step of saving faith.

“It is a shame that there are some Protestants who, unable to dispute the truth of the Catholic faith, resort to personal attacks and belittling the commitment of their fellow Christians.”

I can only speak for me. I wish salvation for every single Catholic, Orthodox and every other churched person. I wish for none of them to be that close and not take the final step. This is not an attack. It is exactly what we are commanded to do.

Christ didn’t come to start a religion. He came to give eternal life. He came to seek and save sinners. He died for the ungodly. He came to sacrifice Himself because “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

He alone saves. It has nothing to do with which church someone attends. It has everything to do with whether or not they have entrusted themselves to the One who can and does save.

“”Um, is there someone else I can talk to? Maybe a saint, or Jesus’ mom?” “

“I’d like to use my Lifeline, please.”

Scripture is a part of every Mass, let alone doing two or three Bible studies at a time.

Please don’t put all Catholics in one bucket.

“If you are a baptized Catholic, then you will always be a Catholic.”

Well, not according to Scripture.

“Get your questions answered.”

It sounds like he already has the answer to The Most Important Question Ever.

“Praise be to God for His Indescribable gift!”

I don’t respond to Y’all.

Why, because you don't know what it means? Y'all is a contraction of "you all" and is a Southern colloquialism. Some people think they are being attacked personally when the pronoun "you" is used, even when it is meant for a group and they complain to the RM. If you think this is speaking to you, then listen.

Why do you send this message trying to put all Catholics in one bucket?

Were you pinged, Sal? I'd say "y'all" applies to those who do what I said they do. Do you ever do those things?

No name given. Who is this Catholic — still a Catholic, even though not a practicing one?

The name is Mary Allen. It's right there in the OP title. And, NO, she isn't STILL a Roman Catholic. We really DO have a choice in the matter, you know? I had nothing to do with being baptized a Catholic as a baby. But as a grown-up, I can make my own decisions. I am not a Catholic, I am a born again Christian.

LOL! Just whatever you do, don’t say “you”. Some people take it personally.

I was talking about on this site. I do not think I have seem Bible verses used to back up their statements. It is like they do not know the Bible. One thing I learned in my decades of genealogy research was to find evidence to back up my information. That was one of the first things I learned. It is hard to believe any info when the parents were born after the children. I used census data, wills, etc to back up my data. Some Catholics do not think that is important. Just because tradition says something does not make it correct. Men make mistakes but the Word of God is true.

>>My father was a drunk and it’s because he was a Catholic. My brother was a drunk and it’s because he was a Catholic. I was a drunk and it’s because I was Catholic. I knew a priest who was a drunk and a fornicator. Catholics worship Mary. Catholics worship statues of Mary. Catholics follow rules. Catholics don’t know Christ. Blah blah blah. Yada yada yada.<<

Arthur this is a forum not a confessional.

St. Paul teaches us in Philippians 2:12-13, “So then, my beloved, obedient as you have always been, not only when I am present but all the more now when I am absent, work out your salvation with fear and trembling. For God is the one who, for his good purpose, works in you both to desire and to work.”

I use y’all, too, and I am just as American as y’all. Every area of this country uses terms that are unique to that area. Nothing wrong with it.

It’s the testimony of a long time nun. You might be interested in reading it.
