Pope Francis equated Christianity with Islam while leaving Turkey.
We have our share of fundamentalists too.
The pope also said fighting poverty and hunger were key to defeating Islamist killers. Ugh.
The Jerusalem Post reported:
Pope Francis said Sunday that equating Islam with violence was wrong and called on Muslim leaders to issue a global condemnation of terrorism to help dispel the stereotype.
Francis, the leader of 1.2 billion Roman Catholics, told reporters aboard his plane returning from a visit to Turkey that he understood why Muslims were offended by many in the West who automatically equated their religion with terrorism.
Francis predecessor, Benedict XVI, caused storms of protest throughout the Islamic world in 2006, when he made a speech that suggested to many Muslims that he believed Islam espoused violence.
Benedict said he had been misunderstood and apologized. But this year, the image of a violent religion has once more been promoted by Islamic State, who have seized swathes of Syria and Iraq, slaughtering or driving out Shiite Muslims, Christians and others who do not share their radical brand of Sunni Islam.
The Argentine pope, who has been trying to foster cooperation with moderate Islam in order to work for peace and protect Christians in the Middle East, said it was wrong for anyone to react to terrorism by being enraged against Islam.
You just cant say that, just as you cant say that all Christians are fundamentalists. We have our share of them (fundamentalists). All religions have these little groups, he said.
Muslims slaughtered 683 innocents THIS WEEK.
Christian fundamentalists have killed no one.
Someone needs to talk with this pope.
This is clearly a jab at the people who hijacked his council to STOP affirmation of sin. Absolutely disgraceful to compare real Christians with the terror army of ISIS.
Since I believe in Jesus Christ, the Bible, and the words of the Apostles Creed, I suppose that makes me a “Fundamentalist”.
I have never posted anything even mildly negative about this pope(I mind my own business! LOL!), and it makes me sad that he seems to view my Christian Belief with contempt.
“Jimmy Carter, now available in Catholic!”
Actually the Messiah kills all who are against Him upon His return but He and His armies are the only ones able to do so. We cannot see the seal of God on those who go through the tribulation and we are to be servant as Jesus was when He lived here. He is not the servant alone anymore but on the throne as just judge. Until we stand before that throne and get our rank in the holy army, we are civilians.
He’s first a liberal, then a pope. Liberalism has distorted his thinking. This kinda destroys “papal infallibility”, eh?
I had no idea. I just searched for inquisitions and the torture was horrendous. An interesting study would be the righteous retribution brought about by God. Invasion? I’ll have to do it when I have time. Israel was invaded when they were sacrificing children so I can’t see God letting this go unpunished. He has to defend His name when we are defaming it. It would be smart to stop calling America a Christian nation when we murder our unborn.
Not public protests and many protesters are white and from out of town.
There are black individuals speaking out against the protests and bringing up the black on black murders, you just have to search for it because the msm isn’t going to blast it.
I’ve been reading the OT with the end time in view (never actually wrote things down) and I came across this last night and had to laugh because I have been a post-tribulationist since the mid 70’s:
Amos 5
“18 Alas, you who are longing for the day of the Lord,
For what purpose will the day of the Lord be to you?
It will be darkness and not light;
19 As when a man flees from a lion
And a bear meets him,
Or goes home, leans his hand against the wall
And a snake bites him.
20 Will not the day of the Lord be darkness instead of light,
Even gloom with no brightness in it?”
I do know that this may not pertain to those living a righteous and just life, but I did have to laugh at how God always covers all the bases.
Another thing I learned is that at that time is there will be a drought and people will thirst, but not for water, for the word of the LORD.
Is the pope Catholic?
Nope.
“You just cant say that, just as you cant say that all Christians are fundamentalists. We have our share of them (fundamentalists). All religions have these little groups, he said. “
What a deranged kookball this guy is. Catholics need to rent a moving truck and move this guy out and get someone else.
Very interesting the pope prays at a mosque, then denounces fellow Christians as terrorists.
I think Benedict, reading, hearing, knowing what Francis has said and done, could conclude that Francis is not pope. If so, does Benedict then have a duty to say as much publicly? It's a Avignon situation, a Babylonian Captivity kind of thing.
Is there a canon lawyer in the house? Is their latter-day Catherine of Siena in the house (Mater Ecclesiae monastery)?
LOL I doubt he's here. He'd expose himself as a liberal troll quickly the way he talks.
I am not sure what reasonable estimates are.
70 million is ludicrous.
7 million is also probably ludicrous.
Like all liberal propaganda, it doesn’t matter to those propagating it.
And the claims are sufficiently open-ended and vague.
“Estimated by people who are not in denial about their churchs history.”
Interesting. You are claiming Texas Songwriter is Catholic.
And you accept the claim that Popes have ordered deaths of 70 million people for heresy over the last thousand years or so.
When was the last heretic killed on a Pope’s order?
Finally something the current Pope and his FR Catholic critics can agree on!
You went way beyond the scope of this discussion.
Christian fundamentalists have killed no one.
Yeah, but they interpret Genesis 1-11 literally, and that's so much worse! [/sarcasm]
Isn’t “fundamentalist” part of the job description for a pope? He should be the most fundamentalist Christian on earth!
