Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

Did I mistake you for a Calvinist ?

I don't much cafe for the TULIP model. But that isn't the only mistake you've made. It's your handling of the Word of The God that brings you down. Maybe you don't believe in the doctrine Sola Scriptura, but you'd best give it a predominant rule over everything else you want to invest your faith in.

You’re manipulating to deny the word of God.

The word of God clearly holds responsibility for Uriah’s death with David’s action.

It is just a local restaurant which has been around since the 60’s. It is El Palacio. If anyone is ever in this neck of the woods, go there. Others have come and gone but this one is still here. They make the best food.

You can go “safe to infer” all you want. Besides, it doesn’t say it didn’t happen right?

Why can’t they see the truth? It s so easy to understand. The Bible is so much more important than tradition. Men make mistakes but God doesn’t. It is like they have never read the Bible.

God gives us plenty of assurance in Scripture of our permanent standing as a child of His in His family.

Here are a few verses to that effect and I know there are more.

John 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

John 10:25-30 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name bear witness about me, but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.”

1 Corinthians 1:4-8 I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge—even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you—so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

2 Corinthians 5:4-8 For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

Ephesians 1:13-14 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Colossians 1:13-14 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 3:3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

For which the Greek, from the Byzantine, is:

2Corinthians 1:21-22 ο δε βεβαιων ημας συν υμιν εις χριστον και χρισας ημας θεος ο και σφραγισαμενος ημας και δους τον αρραβωνα του πνευματος εν ταις καρδιαις ημων

The first word in bold above is “bebaion,” the idea of confirmation, frequently used in commercial settings to confirm a bargain. Which of course makes sense of the remaining terms used here, which are also elements of a secured contract.

The second word in bold above is “sphragisamenos,” being sealed is to be marked by the signature, signet ring, or other unique proof of identity, that we belong to God, and this sealing is done by God, who is the one taking action in this verse. We do not and cannot seal ourselves. We do not, by our own powers, have access to God’s “signet ring.”

The third bolded word above is “arrabona,” and indicates what we might loosely refer to as earnest money, but in Hebrew culture conveys more the idea of a pledge of covenant, a security given as a guarantee that the deal will go through, though we only receive part payment at the beginning. See ערב for the related Hebrew stem indicating “pledge.”

>>Circumcision is work of Jewish law.<<

What is the "Jewish law" thing? God established commands which are referred to as laws. Circumcision was a command by God.

Your Bible disagrees with mine. Either that or you are again injecting your own opinion into the Bible account. David did not murder another man. That man, Uriah, was a warrior, and he died in battle as an honorable man, serving his king. While David asked Uriah's commander to put him at the forefront of the battle, you do not know that Uriah might have died in any case. For one reason or another, God wanted Uriah dead at that point. Are you saying that God could not have saved Uriah and brought him back to his wife?

2 Samuel in chapter Twelve according to a Catholic and verse nine according to a Catholic turned Protestant, as authorized by King James.

Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.

Who is telling the truth in this matter, you or I? (God will judge.)

God has already judged.

Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.
-- 2 Samuel, Catholic chapter twelve, Protestant verses ten through twelve

Observe how I explain James 2 and the Protestant build up complex logical (or seemingly logical) mental constructions to make it look like the verses such as James 2:24 was not there. They are interpreting, and dishonestly. I merely explain what is written.

Like you merely explain away all the verses given you that clearly state we are NOT saved by our works but by faith in Jesus Christ? So, it's just you simply explaining "not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to His mercy He saved us", doesn't mean what it says. Instead the phrase our "works of righteousness" is speaking of the works of the Law of Moses and how obeying the Law isn't the same thing as performing the good works which MUST be added to our faith so that one day we MIGHT be saved? There is a profound lack of understanding what GRACE is and means in your religion. Grace grants us eternal life which we receive by faith and not according to the works we do. It is why God calls it a GIFT.

Here is another aspect to consider. I agree, it is SIMPLE. Just the fact that there are bunch of spurious, pernicious cult type counterfeit religions out there, should give us this idea. The counterfeit religions, are a poor copy of the real thing (Biblical Christianity) If it was not true, why would Satan be out there creating false religions? Satan tries to imitate the REAL THING with counterfeit religions, giving us further evidence that Biblical Christianity is the truth. Of course, to us saved people, the best evidence we have that Biblical Christianity is true, as opposed to the counterfeit religions, is a changed life. I had no difference in my life when I belonged to a counterfeit religion. When I met the real Jesus, not the Jesus of the cults, my life was transformed. Something that was utterly unknown in the cult I was in before.

You are right. People are fooled all the time. That is how Jim Jones got started. It is easy to follow the wrong crowd if you do not know the Bible. In a way, Manson had the same kind of influence. His followers needed to believe in something and he was there. I have never been that needy, thank God.

Observe how he deftly uses the word “explain” when referring to himself but uses “interpret” when referring to the same thing done by none Catholics. If it weren’t for double speak would Catholics have anything to say?

I was not always an independent thinker, when I was in that previously mentioned counterfeit religion. Later, I started reading the Bible, and saw the simplicity of it all. If people don't see the truth, as simple as it is, it is because they don't want to know the truth. Why would anyone NOT want to know the truth? The mystery of sin, is just that, a mystery.

You are right about Charles Manson. I spoke with Charles Manson on numerous occasions, and he definitely has that cult mind. He is a nut with a capital N. If you think he acts weird on TV, I can assure you, that is NOT an act he is putting on. He really is that way.

>The Lord sent Samuel to anoint David, David responded and was anointed, and the Holy Spirit was upon him thereafter.<

Was the Holy Spirit was upon him even as he murdered another man so he could take the other man's wife in adultery ?

Was the Holy Spirit upon Peter who cut off a soldier's ear?

Was the Holy Spirit upon Paul who was in favor of the stoning of Stephen?

Was David called a man after God's own heart?

A simple yes or no to each question will suffice.
