From the Martyrology today we have: "At Damascus, [in the year 743,] holy Peter Mavimeno. Some Arabs came to see him while he was ill, and to them he said, " Whoever does not embrace the Catholic Christian religion will be damned, as your false prophet Mohammed is," whereupon they killed him."
Concur....doing the research makes you learn for sure!
You know, that's the funny thing - the things I have confessed to the Father are turned around in my life - Somehow, some way, He always puts me in the way of folks that need my testimony. It is THERE that I confess to my brother - where I have already walked the road that he is on - where my confession is a tailor-made answer for him... and in that, when I get that nudge from the Spirit to fess up, I do so almost tearfully... I am always so amazed that YHWH is SO great as to turn my sins into victories. Were it not for my walk down the wrong path, I would not be a useful tool in saving my brother.
And likewise for me - He makes sure I stumble across someone who has already been down the path that I am struggling with. Their confession to me brings clarity, and that usually just in the nick of time. That, I think, is where confession is in it's power. Power far beyond any formal system.
I believe in free speech. But it’s a lousy argument on this site. How quick would a pro-ISIS Muslim poster get the zot for writing favorably about their cause? That’s free speech too.
My point: obviously many people on this site can’t agree about how to love and worship Jesus. Repeating the same arguments on daily threads condemning people to hell, calling each other cultists, etc. in my opinion, makes this site look bad. I’ve been posting here for 14 years and the ugly vitriol seems to get worse each week.
Instead of disagreeing about Jesus, how about we agree about hating Obama and his ilk a little more. I refer you to the very top of the home page:
Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We’re working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!
That’s the mission/purpose right? Just don’t see how the you’re going to hell and I’m not threads help this cause. We could promote the best prolife, progun, pro constitution, anti gay agenda, anti immigrant, pro military candidate in the country...but if he/she were Catholic, or Mormon, or the “wrong” type of Protestant...many people here won’t pull the lever for them. Just seems silly to me.
Flame away.
Didn’t mention Jesus in his last moments there. Not good.
I don’t need to flame you. It’s folks like you who are desperately trying to unite all religions into one so we can “all get along”. And you forgot the number one purpose on the list. God! It’s God, then country. Now you want to eliminate God?

No, how liberal of YOU!
In true Alinsky form, you attack the poster with a personal attack cloaked in the guise of a question....and, of course, in a tried-and-true liberal MO, you didn't forget the name-calling.
You deftly, and in established Alinsky form, totally neglected addressing the issue under debate.
Leni
Roger that. Thanks
FWIW, I agree with strider44 and not with Post 150, (which is Jim's) because I don't see anything positive achieved when Protestants and Catholics are arguing. Quite the opposite, in fact. I try my very best to avoid these threads like the plaque! Unfortubnately, I sometimes see their posting and sometimes see them scroll by in "latest posts," and I have to admit that "some of the posts," have made an a negative impact on me and made me view "a scant few" of the posters in a different light than I previously held them.
The graphic I use, is this one, and I abide by it and urge my fellow RC's to do so, too, whenever an anti-Catholic thread is posted and likewise for an anti-Prostestant.
TRADITIONAL Catholic Church blog, meaning more Catholic than the pope.
The Catholic Church teaches that Protestants, Jews, Hindus, etc. CAN be saved, if they seek Truth and do good to the best of their abilities, and are ignorant of Christ and His Church through no fault of their own.
If saved, they are saved by the grace of Christ’s Atonement.
It’s in the Catechism, which is on-line and searchable.
Unfortunately, this blog post will cause much confusion.
Never said I wanted to eliminate god. Is the Catholic God and the Protestant God the same God? Seems like many people don’t agree. Every day another thread opens the wounds.
Just don’t see how this gets Cruz elected, or Walker, or Palin, etc and not Hillary or Warren or some other asshole determined to destroy our country.
Baptism forgives sins through the power and merits of Jesus Christ won through his Blood at Calvary, so your post doesn't really make sense. Maybe you'd like to be baptized in blood, like the followers of Mithra?

And there are forums for doing just that.
If that's what you want to talk about see the News forum.
