>>We did no real study of God's Word, just an academic smattering about the Bible, but nothing of any depth or consequence.<<
That tells us a lot doesn't it.

It’s tough being a Catholic priest. Obviously he was not called to be a priest. It just took him a while to figure that out. The other part about “being saved” is nonsense. When I read that I knew then he never believed to start with.
Devout Catholics do not abandon Christ in the Eucharist. He was never devout. End of story.

I always get a kick out of the "we never studied the Bible in the seminary" line that is ALWAYS included in one of these stories.

The claim was made, the poster was handled. Do not mention such inflammatory posts on thread.

Then you might want to remove post 29 as well, although the inflammatory post is still active from back in October.

In the final analysis, the Roman Catholic Church teaches a gospel of works (i.e., salvation through man's own efforts to lead a good life and to do penance for sins -- as if Jesus Christ did not pay for it all with His shed blood on Calvary's cross).
He may have run away from his home, but he didn't run away from Rome.
He ran away from his own false caricature of what the Catholic Church teaches. I'm sure he'll feel right at home in his new church.

Are sources that prominently promote falsehoods like the "Jesuit Oath" permitted now?

I know for sure the conversion of former priest Richard Bennett is true. I have never met Richard personally, but I know men who know him. Here is link to Richards website. His life is a wonderful testimony of Gods free and sovereign grace. bereanbeacon.orgThank you so very much for the link to the testimony of Richard Bennett. I have been praying for a clergyman who is struggling with his path, and I believe this detailed testimony, supported by scriptural references, will be a help to him.

If you look online you can see the basic story is true. It is also clear he had the hots for a nun and that that influenced his decision. She also was clearly interested in him. God only knows how inappropriate their relationship was before they left the religious life. I hope they didnt break their vows.Because why? God wouldn't forgive them?

I'm always amazed at the sources that some frequent to advance an agenda. This thread helps me remember why I largely avoid the Religion Forum. Amen to that!

Anecdotal conversion stories prove nothing.

A sad story, isn't it? Sounds like a Luther redux, marrying an ex-nun nun and all. The timeline suggests they were married right after Vatican II. Doesn't surprise me. We should keep him in our prayers.
Everyone that had any problem in the neighborhood had to be prayed for with three Hail Mary's each ...
Three Hail Mary's it is, then ...

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
