And put faith in which Jesus?

Exactly. The Catholic "Jesus" is a perpetual helpless infant eternally in the lap of the overpowering "Mary," who ultimately calls the shots. Honestly, He is ALWAYS depicted this way, or perpetually on the cross.

The Jesus most non-Catholic Christians worship is high and lifted up, seated at the right hand of the Father, NOT by his stern "mother."

You know, it just perpetuates the mistrust and misunderstandings to lie about the Catholic Church. How about you let us explain tenets of the Church and you explain tenets of your faith tradition... I think FR would be much more civil if we did this.

>>So, now that the dodging answer has been addressed, please respond to the fact that Scripture never says that Jesus partook of that which He gave to His disciples.<<

Matthew 26:29 I tell you I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”

Mark 14:25 "Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God."

Stick with something you know.

And as God He would not have sinned against or broken His own command.

You mean like this?

I'd stay on the good side of that "perpetual helpless infant," if I were you.

I know that they were at supper and that Scripture never says that once Jesus broke the bread and blessed the cup that He himself ate or drank.

In fact Luke specifically says that it was after supper that Jesus blessed the cup and told them to drink.

But, one has to remember that Jesus was also the Lamb of God which was the sacrifice of God for the redemption of sinners.

And put faith in which Jesus? The one that ate blood and sinned or the one who didn't? The one who has to listen to Mary or the one who is the "all in all"? The one who listens to dead "saints" or the one who directed us to go directly to the throne of grace?

Thank you Cynical Bear and Bellflower for your comments which corroborate Renee Joy's statements.

I started studying not to become Catholic, but to disprove it, to find that fatal flaw that allowed me to cross them off my list as a viable option. But the more I dug, the more I learned and the more it made sense. I had to learn to separate what I had drilled in my head for years, decades really, by the teachers/preachers in my life, the code phrases that were programmed in -- the "compare everything to Scripture" (but not necessarily Scripture in context, but Scripture as interpreted and presented by the leadership of that denomination, hence the major debate over sprinkling vs dunking, predestination vs foreknowledge, etc). It all really does come down to the apostolic tradition, and the verses in the New Testament that refer to that being relevant. How we interpret anything is dependent on who is doing the interpreting and what criteria they use, what bias they have.

IOW, non-Catholic christians, through personal interpretation of scripture, each act as their own pope. Can there be more than one interpretation of the Bible? No. The word "truth" is used several times in the New Testament. However, the plural version of the word "truth" never appears in Scripture. Therefore, there can only be one Truth.

To have the Bible as the only and sole authority of Christianity is to invite chaos into His Church. There are at least 5 Protestant denominations created every year based on a different interpretation of the Bible. Theoretically, anyone who owns a Bible can create their own denomination based on their own interpretation of Scripture. Taken to its logical conclusion, chaos is what happens when the doctrine of "Sola Scriptura" is applied. And Christ stated "A tree is recognized by its fruit" (Matthew 12:33) and the doctrine of Sola Scriptura produces "bad fruit" (disunity, confusion and separation).

So, are you seriously trying to contend that Jesus isn’t more often than not depicted in this way, as an infant in Mary’s lap or arms?

I’ve checked outside, it’s not raining. So quit p****g on my leg.

What are all of the A,s for any way?

They don't appear in the article. More than likely, it is the result of a font that is not enabled on your computer.

So to rely solely on God's word rather than the traditions and teaching of man is to invite chaos. Got it.

Now being in other Churches will force you to decide before God what you believe based upon your own search, your own study of the Bible, your own reliance upon the Holy Spirit.

Too many seem to decide for themselves what to believe and end up believing that contraception, abortion and sodomy are all okay with Christ: disregarding the ethos that ALL denominations of Christianity believed (until 1930). Sorry but you can't have your sin and your salvation too.

Proved her point again!! Kudos!!

The Bible Itself never states that It is the sole and only authority of Christianity.

Is the Bible the sole "teaching from God?" No. The Bible Itself states that there are "oral" teachings and traditions that are to be carried on to the present-day (2 Thessalonians 2:15; 1 Corinthians 11:2; 2 Timothy 2:2; Romans 10:17; 1 Peter 1:24-25). These teachings are what the Catholic Church considers "Sacred Apostolic Tradition." This type of "Tradition" never changes because it was passed down by the Apostles themselves. It is not the same as the man-made traditions condemned in Scripture. The man-made traditions condemned in Scripture were those of the Jewish Pharisees. In fact, as Christians, we are suppose to disassociate ourselves from persons who do not follow Apostolic Tradition (2 Thessalonians 3:6). If oral tradition is not to be followed, why did St. Paul state Christ said something that is not recorded in the Gospels (Acts 20:35)? St. Paul must have "heard" this saying, not read it from any Gospel or "Scripture," thereby, proving that some things Christ said were not recorded in the Gospels (John 21:25) and were passed on orally among His disciples instead, but were just as valid as anything written since St. Paul himself used one of these oral passages in one of his own epistles.

Revelation 10:9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.

Jeremiah 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

Ezekiel 3:1 And he said to me, "Son of man, eat what is before you, eat this scroll; then go and speak to the people of Israel."

Catholics would have eaten the physical scroll right.
