Nor is it idolatrous, since we are not depending on Mary to save us.

Not so fast.... according to your CCC and thus, your church teaches, Mary is a mediatrix... and the CCC refers to her as a "bringer of salvation":

"969 "This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation. . . . Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix.""

Curious how you square that with:

Christ himself states in John 14:6:

"Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

...and,

in 1 Timothy 2:5:

" 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,"

So... how does this square? Seems to me the CCC is teaching something that goes directly against an essential of the faith: that no one comes to the Father except through Christ... and that there is ONE mediator between God and men... Christ; yet the CCC (and the church) teaches that Mary is a mediatrix... someone working with Christ to bring salvation and intercession.

Sounds heretical to me.

Somebody's got some 'splainin' to do.... Much ado about heresy.

It does seem that if Jesus had any brothers Jesus would not have asked John to take care of his mother.

He would have if they thought He was nuts.. and they were not at the cross

That doesn’t tell me that the Bible is the sole rule of faith.

We are Sola Scriptura..NOT Solo Scriptura ... The bible is our FINAL rule of faith ..what is your final rule? How do you test what you hear for truth ?

Where in the Bible does it say that every Church Teaching must be derived solely from a passage of Scripture?
Where is Sola Scriptura in the Bible?

What do you use to test for truth? What is your measuring rod?

“If he will not listen to the church, treat him as a pagan or tax collector.” —Jesus

This is about church discipline not doctrine..

Rationalize that passage as you see fit, because, let's face it, at bottom, no individual Protestant regards any authority as greater than his personal interpretation of Scripture.

This is rather funny seeing Rome has only produced infallible interpretation for a handful of scriptures.. 99.9%of what Catholics read or teach is nothing more than the personal interpretation of the writer or speaker..

I see no difference, in terms of "one mediator," between asking the "living" for their prayers and asking the "dead" for their prayers

Not quite. Actually you've wandered a little off the path of logic.

Mary is dead; in Heaven no doubt, but NOT omniscient; asking you friend to pray for you is reasonable; that person, properly, would be praying to GOD on your behalf; not to Mary.

See the difference?

>>I’ve seen how nasty your posts are about Jesus and Christianity<<

What Jesus? The faux Jesus of Catholicism? That's not the Jesus of scripture. The Jesus of scripture is not repeatedly offered as a sacrifice. The Jesus of scripture didn't make Mary "queen of heaven". The Jesus of scripture is not subservient to Mary. The Catholic Jesus isn't the Jesus of scripture.

No dear one, I meant why are people questioning the salvation of Catholics. That’s what these threads do.

>>All churches have doctrine that are not Scriptural.<<

That's a pretty broad statement. Can you prove it or is that just feel good hyperbole?

>>You are not a person who can accept anything that goes against what you “believe” to be true.<<

I defend what I believe with scripture. Can you do the same?

>>I only share with people who are open to info.<<

If you're talking about cultic or pagan information expecting me to believe it count me out.

The Deposit of Faith through Sacred Scripture and Apostolic Tradition as interpreted through the Magisterium...and no, the Magisterium is not superior to God.

Luke 23:43

Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Point? This is in response to the parable of Abraham and the rich man?

Concentrate......

Sounds to me like the source of truth is men .... that makes them superior to THE WORD of God

Uh, no. You said:

To which I asked:

So... the Bible is not the issue: you made a claim about his posts, I was just curious if you could back it up or if it was a hollow claim.

So.... post some.
