This is what denial looks like when posted on a forum.
[[We are not looking at a particularly religious problem. We have a problem with the general society]]
Nope- sorry- as i stated before- when an organization weaponizes their religion in order to assault 1000’s upon 1000’s of victims, it is a problem within the religion. The homosexual and hetero child predators/rapists are hiding behind an organization that has protected them for a long time now- The fact is that there was a massive coverup of a very horrible crime by the catholic church- a worldwide coverup-
[[The Catholic Church has a no higher rate of abuse than any other religious organization.]]
That isn’t true- Most other religions do not harbor homosexual and pedophile rapists and protect them- Of course it’s going to be higher in the catholic church- not to mention most of these predators have dozens and dozens of victims each-
If you are going to compare apples to oranges, I’ll ask again- What % of SBC has been accused again?
According to other studies:
In a 1993 survey by the Journal of Pastoral Care, 14 percent of Southern Baptist ministers said they had engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior, and 70 percent said they knew a minister who had had such contact with a parishioner.[xvii] Joe E. Trull is co-author of the 1993 book, Ministerial Ethics, and he found that from 30 to 35 percent of ministers of all denominations admit to having sexual relationshipsfrom inappropriate touching to sexual intercourseoutside of marriage.
According to a 2000 report to the Baptist General Convention in Texas, The incidence of sexual abuse by clergy has reached horrific proportions. It noted that in studies done in the 1980s, 12 percent of ministers had engaged in sexual intercourse with members and nearly 40 percent had acknowledged sexually inappropriate behavior. The report concluded that The disturbing aspect of all research is that the rate of incidence for clergy exceeds the client-professional rate for physicians and psychologists.[xix] Regarding pornography and sexual addiction, a national survey disclosed that about 20 percent of all ministers are involved in the behavior.

This is just Baptists, the largest Protestant denomination in America. About 60 million members. There are around 70 million Catholics.
My, my, how they kick against the pricks.
Here are the only relevant facts. They should not be ignored.
The Roman Catholic institutionalized machinery and leadership that covered it up, transferred the perps to fresh pastures, shielded them from criminal prosecution, refused to remove them from positions within the institution, moved assets to prevent victims from recovering damages, etc.The Roman Catholic systemic abuse of children and its evil coverup are unparalleled in any other centralized institution.
The scope is worldwide and includes not just the abusers, but the leaders and hierarchy that cared more about the reputation of the institution than the children.
That FRomans here attempt to minimize this as isolated or equal to others have their eyes closed - willfully.
The report that happened in PA - in only 6 dioceses, is just one state, with only 1,000 victims willing to come forward and detail the satanic abuse they faced. If you have not read what priests did to children - raping, etc. - you should.
This process will now unfold in additional states.
Australia is now unfolding the abuse.
Many, many, many other countries will as well.
This is a Trillion dollar judgement coming down the pike and well deserved... not because there was abuse, but because they enabled and perpetuated and hid the abuse.
The leadership should face jail time.
I'm sorry, when did you gain the ability to call your opinions "facts" and present them as beyond question, discussion, or argument?
No reason to be sorry.
You have a right to post alternative facts you feel were left out - and discuss, argue or question to your heart's desire.
Not denying it, the Catholic Church needs to clean house bigtime. But also other churches have to come to terms that sex abuse happens also.
bump
Worldwide there are 1.6 billion Catholics.
But also other churches have to come to terms that sex abuse happens also.
I agree wholeheartedly with both statements.
“People who say allowing priests to marry will solve the homosexual pedophile problem. Wrong: just look at the Southern Baptist Convention and the Willow Creek mega church scandals.”
Southern Baptist homosexual pedophile problem?
Not really. Not at all. Has not been in the news.
Sexual misconduct is common in almost all Christian churches, however media coverage is obsessed with focusing on Catholics.
So is FR, lol!
have there been crimes committed....no doubt...
should people go to jail?..no doubt...however its not easy to charge someone, try them, convict them and jail them when they've been dead for a couple of decades...
you say this is a trillion dollar problem?....and there is it....TRILLION DOLLARS....
its all about the $$$$$$$$$$$...and because the Catholic church is large and international it does have a lot of money....
you folks that wish the worse on the Catholic church had better remember one thing...when the Catholic church goes down, the entire Christian community goes down....
the leftist satanists communists have been after Christians for decades and now they just about got this one corralled...
and the rest are next...
Since this abuse happened over decades, all over the country, in many countries, I believe the liability from those who were abused, if they sued, would be well over $1 Trillion. It may be more.
its all about the $$$$$$$$$$$...and because the Catholic church is large and international it does have a lot of money....
I do not think it is all about money.
I think it is about the abuse and coverup over decades, without admitting fault and allowing it to be continued.
I believe it will qualify as a RICO case, if anyone brings it.
you folks that wish the worse on the Catholic church had better remember one thing...when the Catholic church goes down, the entire Christian community goes down...
I am on record over a couple years here on FR, saying that problems in one church of any denomination do not help any other church or denomination. It gives a bad reputation to all. I do not wish worse on the Roman chruch.
That said, they committed a depth of evil that will need to be corrected and I do believe it will cost them serious coin.
“You folks that wish the worse on the Catholic church had better remember one thing...when the Catholic church goes down, the entire Christian community goes down...”
One of the truest, most cogent, and pithiest things to ever have been posted on FR.
uhhh.....no.
Roman Catholicism may go down....but Christianity, as it always has since the 1st century, will continue until God decides it is time.
4%???
Number is way to low.
