hat Jesus said in KJV from John 6:5. Those in brackets are inferences from the text
5. Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
10. Make the men sit down
(11. Thanks to God. Distribute the bread and fishes)
12. Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
20. It is I; be not afraid.
———————————
26. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
29. This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent
32. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
35. I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
43. Murmur not among yourselves.
44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
48 I am that bread of life.
49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
53. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
61. Doth this offend you?
62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
64 But there are some of you that believe not.
65. Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
=====
This is the work of God - that you believe Him who He has sent.
God, My Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is HE which cometh down from heaven and giveth life unto the world.
I am the bread of life
Ye also have seen me and believe not
I cam down from heaven to do the will of Him that sent me.
I am that bread of life.
This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof and not die.
I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever;
and the bread that I will give is my flesh
Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.\
For my flesh is meat indeed
He that eateth my flesh dwelleth in me
he that eateth me, even he shall live by me
“Elsie has probably forgotten more Biblical truth than you are likely to ever comprehend as a cult member of Mormonism.”
Yep, yep. I was waiting to post until I finished reading the entire thread. Thanks for making it so simple, MHG.
As you know, a number of us are ex Catholics. Each catholic, has their own ideas about many things. When I was a catholic, I was embarrassed by that, because of the weird doctrines. The one that embarrassed me the most, was holy water. Pulease. That’s hokey.
Anyway, I was eventually able to gloriously escape the Catholic Church, but I was already in the Air Force, at the time. Since my baptism as an infant, was meaningless, me and two others, were Baptized in the swimming pool at my Air Force Base in Vietnam. Believe it or not, we DID have a swimming pool in a war zone. 😊 We made PACAF news, and my parents (die hard Catholics) saw it in my home town newspaper. 👍
My ministry, is to help Catholics get saved, and have assurance of salvation, and leave the Catholic Church. 😁 It’s a beautiful thing, to see people leave the “one true church,” 👍
“ My ministry, is to help Catholics get saved, and have assurance of salvation, and leave the Catholic Church”
#metoo!
Roman Catholics make wonderful Christians when they respond to the Gospel of Grace and finally know God.
I have known some ex Mormons in my day. I have also known a few ex Muslims. In fact, I think one of the most Godly men I ever met, was an ex Muslim from Iran. I met him in Del Rio by golly Texas. 👍
You are correct sir. You know where I live. I know a bunch of them.
In fact, I was at a Gideon’s meeting a few years ago. There were about 30 people there. I asked one of the guys, how many of them were ex Catholics. He said he thought maybe two thirds of them. Praise the Lord for that. 😁👍
Baptized in Vietnam. Mark, that almost sounds like the name of a song.
(Very interesting story on your baptism. And having a swimming pool in a war zone is great in that while circumstances could not be worse, you all made lemonade with the lemons life handed you. That is great and I’m sure served as a testimony to others. Thank you for you service, Brother.)
I’ll be here all week. Try the veal ...
The concept of so called “sacred tradition” is found nowhere in Scripture.
The only time Jesus addresses tradition is to condemn it.
It’s really too bad that Catholics don’t think the written word of God isn’t enough.
Really. The Bible isn’t long enough for you all that you need to add to it?
And Catholics take “he who endures to the end” completely out of context.
It has nothing to do with a person earning their salvation by persevering in their own strength, lifting themselves up by their bootstraps, until they die.
What a dishonest interpretation of that verse.
If you are not a priest, then you have no basis recognized by the Catholic religion for interpreting Scripture and telling others what it means.
So why are you doing it?
And if you are not a priest, then what are your qualifications for presuming to instruct us in Catholicism and Scripture and under what authority?
BTW, accusing someone of lying is verboten on the RF. Calling them a liar is making it personal. Claiming to know what they know is mindreading.
You hit the trifecta of violating RF guidelines.
In Vietnam, we had 3 Army helipads, entirely within our control zone, causing hate and discontent among the troops. 😁 If I recall, we had the 1st Cav Army post, located just off the approach end of 9R. The Army troops used to come over all the time, to swim in our pool. 😁
Oh? That’s surprising. You speak as if you have experience with the Church.
I agree MM. When I was a catholic, we were told to have a priest interpret scripture for us. Talk about the blind leading the blind. 😁 If the guy doesn’t have a priest to interpret scripture for him, perhaps he doesn’t interpret scripture at all. Maybe he just reads it, and tells us what it says. 😁 Remember that fiasco? 😊🖐 The laughter could be heard 10,000 miles away. 😁
There is no question that you have no idea what the gospel of Jesus Christ is. I've made it clear. Jesus made it clear to Nicodemus, a certified rabbi (teacher) of the Sanhedrin. Nicodemus had come to ask some question, but Jesus discerned what was on his heart, and answered that longing that was the root of Nicodemus' quest:
"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (Jn. 3:3 AV),You are like Nicodemus. He was a teacher of as much ofthe progressively revealed Word of God as was available; to wit, the Tanach. But though, like you, had it in hand, but he did not have it in his heart, and so did not understand the term γεννηθη ανωθεν ("born again" or "born from above"). So Jesus began his lengthy figurative-literal explanation:
"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" (Jn. 3:5 AV).It is quite likely that Nicodemus was aware of John Baptist's rite of water immersion, an outdoors form of mikvah cleansing, as well as the plain-literal washings of Ezekiel 36:25 and Zechariah 13:1, a ritual cleansing in preparation of entering the Presence of God in His Kingdom. So he, like you, probably naturally imagined that the water part of the above verse referred to a baptism like John's as a necessary activity to be saved. But he, like your system, was wrong.
In that verse, both terms, water and spirit, are figurative terms referring to His Word(s) alone, nothing else. And you (who believe/say that one must wait until death to learn whether one is saved or not), cannot have been born again, or your tune would be quite different.
Holy @#%@ I seem to have awakened the dead.
TN seems to harbor a lot of folks with the attitude you seem to have.
I would appreciate knowing the difference between saved and unsaved that is scripturally based.
man is born of ‘water’ when a womans water breaks giving birth....Born of ‘water’.....
I would appreciate knowing the difference between saved and unsaved that is scripturally based.
Mighty judgemental aren’t you.
No one has mentioned Joseph Smith, and other than that you seem woefully short of specifics.
