I guess I'm one of those Zionist religious Christian nutballs that says blow the digusting al-aksa mosque to hell.

Can someone point out to me the Biblical significance (if any) of the red heifer? Is it a Levitical requirement that the heifer be red or is that from "handed down" tradition? I don't remember noting any red heifer mentioned in scripture, but I havn't done a word search yet...

Did a word search... Found the reference in Numbers 19... It's great to have such tools to augment my faulty memory.

More like 100 million. See "The Black Book of Communism" for details.

Yeah, I know.... By most accounts, the number 26 million only accounts for Stalin's murders. One would need to include Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Minh, and perhaps Castro and the South American Marxists in order to get a better number (100 million).

Thank you for correcting my slip, though! I hope that the number doesn't skyrocket this century, but with China looking the way it does, I do think it's possible (ahem, Three Gorges Dam)...

Don't have statistics at the ready, but isn't it common knowledge that throughout the history of mankind more wars have been staged under the auspices of religion than not?

I don't know. I think you may have underestimated the possibilities of the name "Saudi Arabia".

Nobody reads anti-war drivel.

True. That is why "nutballs" who read Anti-War post it here on FreeRepublic.

By the way, count me in as a Christian Nutball who believes in the Messiah, the Anti-Christ, Satan, the Bible, and God.

So there is a percentage of Jews who consider the red heifer a portent of the second coming. That fact alone suggests that some who follow Judaism are indeed nutballs.

If I read this right, this a call from Raimondo to prevent Bible prophecy from being fulfilled. Which is about as silly as calling today for yesterday's newspaper to be rewritten -- yesterday.

Of course considering how vauge and inconsistant the prophecys are whatever happens will be 'fullfilling them'.

Don't have statistics at the ready, but isn't it common knowledge that throughout the history of mankind more wars have been staged under the auspices of religion than not?

That depends on whether or not one CORRECTLY identifies "secular humanism" as a religion (which it CLEARLY is - see below).

Modern Religions:
- Christianity: The problem: Mankind, created perfect, chose to disobey God Almighty, thus falling from perfection and being susceptible to evil nature. The solution: God Almighty sent his Only Begotten Son to earth to pay the price for our redemption.

- Judaism: Essentially the same as the Above, with the exception that adherents of Judaism are still waiting for the Messiah to arrive.

- Islam: The problem: Allah created Man to exist on the earth, but man chose to disobey. The solution: The adherents of Islam (the Believers) are to wage war with the Infidels (techincally, those who are not "Of the Book," defined as Muslims, Christians, and Jews) until the Entire Earth submits to Allah on high.

- Secular Humanism: The problem: Mankind, evolving from the swamps, is inherently perfect, but societies restrain his innate good, preventing him from being his "best". The solution: Government must step in and force Mankind to become good, by coercing people into becoming "equals" with those higher or lower than them.

The only difference between the other three religions above and Secular Humanism is that Secular Humanism essentially places Man in the place of what the other three refer to as "God". Get the drift?

From my studies of history, I can firmly say that ALL of mankind is inherently evil. As a result, mankind wages war amongst himself. This has been _the_ de-facto pattern throughout history, and it will continue into the future indefinitely. War is our natural state, whether it's within ourselves ("I'm at war with myself over whether or not I should go have that extra candy bar."), our family ("My wife wants the remote. I don't want to give it to her."), our community ("Those bastards across the street won't stop their rediculously loud parties." "That dumb old guy across the street just won't bugger off and mind his own bloody business."), our nation ("Those Californians are fruit loops."), or, on a macro-scale, with the rest of the nations in the world.

War in and of itself isn't inherently evil, either. Read up on the "Just War" theory for more details on that than I could possibly provide.

Hope this helps clarify things somewhat.

:) ttt
