The epicenter of the next global supply chain snarl could be in South Korea as a nationwide trucker strike broadens and is hindering domestic economic activity, which may spill over to the rest of the world. Bloomberg reports that the Cargo Truckers Solidarity Union entered its seventh day of strikes on Monday, causing $1.6 billion in disruptions for auto, petrochemical, steel, and other top industries. South Korean steel-making company POSCO, the world’s fourth-largest steelmaker, has already limited production at some factories while the impacts are spreading across the economy. The strike has impacted companies in Seoul the hardest. Shares of...

The miles of trails in Santa Teresa and Calero County Parks are some of the best in the Bay Area with challenging terrain leading to breathtaking views. “This park here, every time I ride it I realize it’s just a jewel,” said cyclist Robert Lombardi. Although both park’s boundaries are close to each other, they’ve always been separated by roads and private property causing users who ride or hike between them to brave McKean Road which has no bike lane and sometimes dangerous drivers. “Sometimes people are passing each other and going much faster than they should,” Lombardi said. But...

The ammunition discharged on Sunday night, making employees believe a shooter was on the property, police in Greenwood, South Carolina said. Greenwood is about 70 miles (113km) northwest of Columbia. A small fire in the resident’s room was extinguished. The resident was found unconscious and taken to the hospital to be treated for apparent smoke inhalation. The creators of the irreverent animated television series “South Park” are buying Casa Bonita, a quirky restaurant in suburban Denver that was featured on the show. Matt Stone and Trey Parker said in an interview with Colorado Gov. Jared Polis on Friday that they had come to an agreement with the current owners of the restaurant, which closed to diners in March 2020 as the pandemic took hold. It declared bankruptcy in the spring. “We’re excited to work with everybody and make it the place we all want to make it,” Parker said. The Lakewood restaurant has been in business...

Chaotic protests have erupted across the country after former president Jacob Zuma was handed a 15-month jail term last week for failing to appear at a corruption inquiry. At least 75 people have died and more than 1,200 arrested as the country's consumer goods body estimated more than 800 shops had been ransacked. Many of the deaths were caused by stampedes as thousands of people raided shops, stealing food, electrical appliances, alcohol and clothes, cops said. Shocking images showed hundreds of people running towards a warehouse on Wednesday and tearing through containers as the violence battered the country for a...

President Biden embarrassed himself at the G-7 summit when he tried to correct British Prime Minister Boris Johnson for not introducing “the president of South Africa” — even though Johnson already did so by name. The blooper — one of several Biden made amid the series of meetings with world leaders — prompted laughter at his expense at the start of a roundtable discussion in Cornwall, England. The awkward incident took place on Saturday, according to Sky News, which posted a video clip and a transcript online. After mentioning how the visiting dignitaries had brought “some pretty spectacular weather with...

Last year South Dakota welcomed President Trump to Mount Rushmore on the 4th of July. The President shared a historic speech and then fireworks ended the day. This year the Democrats want none of it. Joe Biden is unable to make the trip and deliver a speech in his mental and physical state. Because of this, they will punish South Dakota for their patriotic display last year. The Washington Examiner reported yesterday: The National Park Service denied a request from South Dakota to host another July Fourth fireworks display at Mount Rushmore following a controversial Independence Day in 2020 attended...

Nine people have died after getting flu shots in South Korea in the past week, raising concerns over the vaccine’s safety just as the seasonal inoculation programme is expanded to head off potential COVID-19 complications. Five new deaths were reported on Wednesday (Oct 21) alone, but authorities had no plans to suspend the vaccination programme, unless investigations, including post mortems, revealed a link, which preliminary findings had not. “We have reviewed whether it is appropriate to continue the vaccination or better to suspend and wait for the results,” health official Kim Joong-gon told a briefing. “We came to the conclusion...
