Something to cleanse the palate while we wait for Paul Ryan to attack the Death Star in Kentucky. All of you already knew that Hamill is a liberal, yes? (So much so that the story of the haircut that Romney forced on a classmate in high school appears to weigh heavily in his electoral calculations.) If not, here’s a rule of thumb that will serve you well: Virtually everyone associated with “Star Wars” is an out-and-proud leftist. There may be a Jawa somewhere in the cast who votes libertarian, but opinion among the major players appears to be as varied...

Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter said Thursday that the “entire reason” the terrorist attack at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi that killed four Americans has “become the political topic it is” is because Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan talk about the attack. To a certain extent, Cutter is correct. The MSM would have buried the Benghazi story along with Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans. They are reporting this story through gritted teeth and are spinning the abject failure of the Obama administration as a "bump in the road." They are even repeating the Obama lie that it was...

From a CNN transcript: (snip)COOPER: Who told you that they would give you information? SMITH: You'll love this. Obama told me. Hillary promised me. Joe Biden -- Joe Biden is a pressure. He was a real sweetheart. But he also told -- they all told me that -- they promised me. And I told them please, tell me what happened. Just tell me what happened. COOPER: So you're still waiting to hear from somebody about what happened to your son? About what they know? Or even what they don't know. SMITH: Right. Right. Officially yes. I told them, please don't...

Hillary Clinton’s State Department stonewalls a victim’s mother, while tossing the White House under the bus. But is the press giving Libya big enough play? The jaw-dropping testimony at the House Oversight Committee Wednesday completely shredded the Obama Administration’s original story about what happened in Benghazi, while offering damning evidence that the State Department ignored multiple, urgent requests for better security at the American outpost in eastern Libya. “It was abundantly clear we were not going to get resources until the aftermath of an incident,” said Eric Nordstrom, a former Regional Security Office at the U.S. Embassasy in Libya,. “How...

Steven Hayes, the notorious killer who sits on death row for the 2007 slayings of a Cheshire woman and her two daughters, wants to waive his appeals and proceed to his execution, a path that serial killer Michael Ross took before being put to death in 2005. In a letter to the Courant, Hayes, 49, said he is the subject of "cruel and unusual punishment" by prison staff at Northern Correctional Institution in Somers, treatment he claims has "been escalating" since March 2012. "I was willing to live with the intense grief from my past actions, and I still am...

Dan from Squirrel Hill's Blog TV theme songs – part 1 of 4 TV theme songs – part 1 of 4TV theme songs – part 2 of 4TV theme songs – part 3 of 4TV theme songs – part 4 of 4I was born in 1971. I tell you this because it should help to tell you something about the point of view from which I have watched TV shows. As a child, I watched reruns of sitcoms and cartoons from the 60s, as well as new programming on PBS, and Saturday morning children’s programming. During the late 70s, I also...

A spat has broken out between developing countries and the US over Washington’s refusal to sign off a deal struck two years ago that would give the smaller nations greater influence at the International Monetary Fund. The Obama administration is believed to be dragging its feet because the agreement would formally release roughly $55bn to the IMF that its political opponents could paint as bail-out funds for the eurozone. With just a month to go before the presidential elections, the sign-off comes at a sensitive time. A deal to double the IMF’s resources between its 188 members was first struck...

What is the best way to answer pollsters? I'm in a swing state and receive plenty of calls. Is it better to be a Dem who is disappointed in Obama and planning to vote for Romney? Or vice versa? Or to just be honest? Fun to play "operation chaos" but what would be the better strategy?

President Obama inherited a mess of an economy and has really turned it around. People seem to have trouble understanding this, though, so I thought I’d answer some common questions about the economy to explain what a great job he’s been doing and why he deserves reelection. REELECT OBAMA FAQ: THE ECONOMY Q. Obama was elected in large part because of the problems in the economy, but four years later the economy is in even worse shape. Why, then, should we reelect him? A. Because Obama has lots of plans to get the economy going and create jobs. Romney doesn’t...

Communist China’s Lenovo Group has ousted Hewlett-Packard as the world’s largest PC maker, underlining the growing muscle of Asian technology companies. Lenovo accounted for 15.7pc of PC shipments in the third quarter, according to research firm Gartner, compared with 15.5pc for HP. The Californian company has led the rankings for the last six years. The ascent of Lenovo, which bought IBM’s PC business a decade ago, shows little sign of slowing. The company is benefitting from strong demand in its domestic market allied to an aggressive pricing strategy. Like its American rival Dell, HP is suffering in its home market...

Jay Cost thinks so, and it appears that Gallup may have at least tacitly admitted it. The Left has critiqued Gallup’s samples, accusing it of continually oversampling white voters and creating an artificial handicap for Barack Obama’s approval and support numbers. David Axelrod made the loudest noise, but Jay cites a column from Mark Blumenthal at HuffPo as more influential, and it was HuffPo that first noticed the change as well: Over the summer Mark Blumenthal of Huffington Post wrote a critique of Gallup’s daily presidential job approval poll. The point of which was that Gallup was over-sampling whites and...

Prayers requested, please. My young second cousin and three other men are missing since Tuesday. They were flying from Marshall, Texas, to Casper, Wyoming, in a small Piper aircraft. No word from them. Search crews are out, as is his parents (dad is a pilot). No emergency beacon activated. They think they had a ping from a cell phone but found nothing in that area. Crews are searching. News story at the link. My cousin in on the left.

RUSH: Folks, this is very hard to listen to. It's tear-jerking. It's also gonna make you mad. It's going to infuriate you. This is last night on Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN. He interviewed Pat Smith, the mother of Sean Smith, computer specialist killed at the US consulate in Benghazi. Anderson Cooper said, "Who told you that they would give you information about Sean's death?"

Oh, honestly. Obama’s people are certainly putting out that message that Vice President Biden is “fired up and ready to go†for tonight’s debate, but clearly they felt the need to get in a few little preemptive jabs at his challenger Paul Ryan — could it be that they don’t have enough confidence in Biden’s abilities alone to get the job done? I found this video in my inbox in an e-mail from Stephanie Cutter and the Truth Team, imploring me to “share it with others†before tonight’s debate: aul Ryan and His Many Methods of MisrepresentationPuh-lease. Let’s not pretend...

First real earthquake poll that I can recall at the state level, not unlike how Monday’s Pew national poll felt. I’m tempted to break out the mushroom cloud thumbnail, but … no, not yet. Let’s save that for the last two weeks. Second look at that Suffolk pollster’s decision to stop polling Florida? The survey conducted this week found 51 percent of likely Florida voters supporting Romney, 44 percent backing Obama and 4 percent undecided. That’s a major shift from a month ago when the same poll showed Obama leading 48 percent to 47 percent — and a direct result...

It was obvious to me, and to all ConservativeKind, that Romney was an East Coast RINO, the sort of politician who we detest almost more than an "honest" liberal Democrat. We were off-put by his Massachussettes record, we were enraged at his selection, and we vowed to fight him right up to the very second he was named the Republican candidate. Yet, a few things happened recently that call into question our assumption: The Debate. Sure Romney shined. Yes, Obama sulked. The contrast in performance was wonderful to behold. But this is not enough for conservatives: A skilled RINO is...
