Questions regarding possible campaign finance violations continue to plague Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz as her Federal Elections Commission (FEC) reports are coming under increased scrutiny... ...her campaign appears to have committed another possible FEC violation with regards to her campaign’s travel expenses and a leased private jet from a charter airplane company, New Flight Charters, which is based out of Jackson, Wyoming. First off, why would any Member of Congress or candidate have to use a private charter company for purposes of campaigning with a congressional district given how small most districts are in terms of square miles? ...The argument...

SANFORD – George Zimmerman's murder trial in the death of Trayvon Martin was set for June 10 during a hearing in court this morning. Zimmerman, 29, is charged with second-degree murder for shooting Trayvon, an unarmed 17-year-old, in Sanford Feb. 26, a homicide that set off civil-rights rallies across the country. This morning, Circuit Judge Debra Nelson set Zimmerman’s trial for June 10. Attorneys in the case said they estimate the trial will last three weeks. Prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda said he expected jury selection would take longer than the trial itself. The hearing, known as a docket sounding,...

Kerry Ladka stood before President Obama at last night’s town hall-style debate and asked the question that would touch off an onstage verbal brawl and, later, an intense national discussion. Here’s how it went: Q: It’s Kerry, Kerry Ladka. PRESIDENT OBAMA: Great to see you here. Q: This question actually comes from a brain trust of my friends at Global Telecom Supply in Mineola yesterday. We were sitting around talking about Libya, and we were reading and became aware of reports that the State Department refused extra security for our embassy in Benghazi, Libya, prior to the attacks that killed...

Kerry Ladka stood before President Obama at last night’s town hall-style debate and asked the question that would touch off an onstage verbal brawl and, later, an intense national discussion. (snip) President Obama, though, wasn’t done with Kerry Ladka. “After the debate, the president came over to me and spent about two minutes with me privately,” says the 61-year-old Ladka, who works at Global Telecom Supply in Mineola, N.Y. According to Ladka, Obama gave him ”more information about why he delayed calling the attack a terorist attack.” For background, Obama did apparently lump Benghazi into a reference to “acts of...

The one that that stood out for me was the fact that even in the RNC primary we had at least 1 or 2 Libertarian questions a debate from the "peanut gallery". We never even got ONE question like: "What do you think the role of the Federal Government should be?" "What percentage of taxes on ANYONE is too much?" "If the question in tax policy is fairness, and the same percentage of a tax being mathmatically fair, why isn't a FLAT TAX an option in your opinion?" "We talk about the war on terror, what about the war on...

Even the debate moderator who claimed otherwise has since changed her tune, which leaves a pretty big opening for Republicans to address on Barack Obama's response to the Benghazi attack --- both in real terms and in the debate last night. After Candy Crowley cut off Mitt Romney by erroneously claiming that Obama had declared the act terrorism --- which she recanted after the debate --- most other fact checkers reached the opposite conclusion. Here' Glenn Kessler of the Washington Post, for instance: What did Obama say in the Rose Garden a day after the attack in Libya? ”No acts...

Burma has signed a deal with a British aviation enthusiast to allow the excavation of a World War II treasure: dozens of Spitfire fighter planes buried by the British almost 70 years ago. Aviation enthusiast David J. Cundall discovered the locations of the aircraft after years of searching. The planes are believed to be in good condition, since they were reportedly packed in crates and hidden by British forces to keep them out of the hands of invading Japanese. The British Embassy said Wednesday that the agreement was reached after discussions between President Thein Sein and British Prime Minister David...

The Obama Administration has leaked their economic plan for the next four years should they win re-election. This plan was approved by top economists at Harvard University and other top economic thinktanks on the Left. While not complete, the plan draws a stark contrast with the plans of Mitt Romney to refocus the economy on tax cuts, spending cuts and investment in jobs. This is what has been learned about the outline of Obama's Economic Plan for his second term as leaked to us: 1. Raise taxes on the 53% under the guise of "taxing the rich". 2. Punish the...

Do you remember the debates over the Affordable Care Act, aka ObamaCare? Now that repeal of the law has become a major campaign issue, it may be helpful to remember why Congress passed it in the first place.

Early in 2010, as the climactic votes neared, a parade of the legislation's defenders—from the House, Senate and Obama administration—appeared across the media. All had the same message: pre-existing conditions. They named the names of families "victimized" by companies that had refused to sell them insurance, had canceled their coverage or had refused to pay their medical bills.

We had our debate last night, and as was expected, Crowley made her partisan views and bias a significant factor in the debate: if you deny this obvious fact, you suffer from willful ignorance or you are so lost in your bias your sanity might be in question. Crowley let it be known, before the debate, she planned to inject her influence into the debate; after all, she has a superior intellect and is a member of the elite cadre of media engaged in the reelection of Obama. How could anyone expect or ask that she be a neutral moderator,...

Romney loves to say that lowering taxes on companies will create jobs. This is spoken like some gospel truth. I actually stopped to think this through tonight and came to a much different conclusion. I believe that higher taxes actually encourages increased hiring and investment. Why? Because, as a small biz employer (structured as an S Corp) all company profit flows through to my (and Joe Downey's) personal taxes. As both candidates regularly note, 90%+ of all businesses are structured this way. So if you reduce my tax rate then I'm more likely to take money out of the company...

Like I said last night, the commercials will come out after the debate, and you will see even more Romney ads on the airwaves since we have less than 3 weeks to go. The first two came out right after the debate, the third one was just released in the past hour. My favorite is the second ad. Which commercial do you like the best? Until last week, I'd never heard of Candy Crowley. At first, I thought she was Monica Crowley's sister. Then I found out Monica's sister's name is Jocelyn. Then I started wondering if she was related in any way to Alistair - you know, the muse of Led Zeppelin back in the 70s....

If you want more time to get your message out in debates, it’s good to be a Democrat. According to the CNN debate clock, President Obama spoke at greater length than Mitt Romney during both debates, as did Vice President Biden during his debate with Paul Ryan...

Did we go in expecting a Fair fight?? This is like going to a street three card monte game and being shocked you lose your money. The debate was a set up from the get go.....We got suckered..OK. Now how do we deal with it? First we need to stop being suckered into the Myth of "Debate Rules". Republicans are the only ones who follow the rules the DEMS will NOT! Secondly show some backbone and stop allowing these uber liberal Moderators to pretend like they will be unbiased when doing their job.

He’s back. Last night our president was articulate and forceful — in sharp contrast to his performance in the first presidential debate. He stated his beliefs. He defended his record. He told America where he wanted to take the nation in his second term. And he explained where Romney wanted to take us. For example: “Romney says he’s got a five-point plan. Governor Romney doesn’t have a five-point plan; he has a one-point plan. And that plan is to make sure that folks at the top play by a different set of rules. That’s been his philosophy in the private...
