It dawns on me that once again, the elected resident of 1600 PA Ave. is off to the podia, leaving behind the budget, the debt, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, not for the golf course but to campaign. This time, though, it isn't so much for himself, as for the abrogation of a fundamental Civil Right enjoyed by millions of Americans, in a direct attack on them for the actions of a few (relatively speaking) madmen and criminals. However, I also recall dire warnings of false flag operations, and recalling the Reichstag Fire, and the waning emotional diatribes over children murdered...

It’s hard to find much inflation in the US economy right now. As measured by the Labor Department’s consumer price index, prices increased by just 1.7% in 2012. The core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, rose by 1.9%.Nor can much inflation be found in an alternate measure, the Commerce Department’s personal consumption expenditures prices index. It rose 1.45% for the twelve months ending last September. Excluding food and energy, it rose 1.58%. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke prefers the PCE price index because he believes it better reflects changes in consumer purchasing habits. But some skeptics say those...

When reporting about guns, I'm often asked whether I've fired one myself. "Just once," I'd reply, not elaborating to say I found my trip to a Virginia shooting range terrifying. So when I was sent to see how gun shops and shooting ranges around Philadelphia were faring amid the debate over firearms, I was prepared for the same question. But I wondered: Would shooting again change my ambivalence about guns? A Gallup poll found 47 percent of U.S. adults say they have a gun in their home or property.

It's been a rough morning for many parents and their children in New York City, where about 8,000 school bus drivers and monitors have gone on strike —meaning about 152,000 students had to get to school some other way... It's going to be chaotic," New York City school's Chancellor Dennis Walcott tells NY1 as his system and the city head into Day 1 of a strike by school bus drivers. About 152,000 students, one third of them with special needs, rely on the yellow buses to get back and forth to school each day. According to our colleagues at WNYC,the...

OK, raise your hands — how many of you are surprised by this? Governor Rick Perry gave Barack Obama a Texas-sized pushback on the new gun-control agenda at the White House: “The Vice President’s committee was appointed in response to the tragedy at Newtown, but very few of his recommendations have anything to do with what happened there.“Guns require a finger to pull the trigger. The sad young man who did that in Newtown was clearly haunted by demons and no gun law could have saved the children in Sandy Hook Elementary from his terror.“There is evil prowling in the...

Announcing anti-gun measures in front of a theatrical backdrop of children, itself a tactic associated with troubling historical precedents, President Barack Obama yesterday proposed specific legislative efforts related to guns for Congress to pass, and also outlined 23 measures he says can be implemented under executive authority. To set the stage for using children, the White House, along with a complicit anti-gun media, made a point of sharing letters from children, particularly those that resonate with the childish emotions of those who don’t know enough about guns to know they’re being manipulated. Case in point is the message from an...

When the president surrounds himself with children while giving his announcement that reasonable gun control measures are necessary, bear in mind that those ‘assault rifles‘ the government is sure to be going after were not even used in the Newton, Connecticut elementary shooting. As NBC admits in the video above, four handguns were used to carry out that despicable atrocity. This directly contradicts other reports.

Thanks! -------- Hi, Did you hear about President Obama's plan for gun safety, released today? It's a really great plan, the boldest any politician has been on this issue in a long time. JERUSALEM (AP) – Israel's prime minister on Wednesday dismissed President Barack Obama's reported displeasure with his hardline policies toward the Palestinians, a sign that the two could be headed for a showdown. Polls suggest Benjamin Netanyahu is poised to win Israel's elections next week and continue in office. This week an American columnist with close ties to the White House described Obama's disdain for Netanyahu, warning that Israel's all-important relationship with the U.S. could suffer in unprecedented ways if the Israeli government doesn't change its policies. Such a clash would come at a tense time when regional developments appear to...

RICHMOND — A man who strangled his prison cellmate and made good on a vow to continue killing if he wasn’t executed was put to death Wednesday in Virginia’s electric chair. Robert Gleason Jr., 42, was pronounced dead by authorities at 9:08 p.m. at Greensville Correctional Center. He became the first inmate executed in the U.S. this year and the first to choose death by electrocution since 2010. In Virginia and nine other states, death row inmates are allowed to choose between electrocution and lethal injection. Gleason was serving life in prison for the 2007 fatal shooting of a man...

Gun control is back. President Obama on Wednesday unveiled a series of feel-good measures designed to play on the emotions of Americans saddened by the horrific shooting of 20 students at Sandy Hook Elementary School last month. Almost nothing he proposes to do would make anyone safer. Surrounding himself with children, Mr. Obama said, “This will be difficult. There will be pundits and politicians and special-interest lobbyists publicly warning of a tyrannical, all-out assault on liberty — not because that’s true, but because they want to gin up fear or higher ratings or revenue for themselves.” The president said that...

See your ad here The nugget, weighing slightly more than five kilograms (177 ounces), was discovered by a local prospector on Wednesday morning, who rushed it to the Ballarat Mining Exchange Gold Shop. The exact location and the identity of the lucky prospector remain secret, but gold shop owner Cordell Kent said the nugget was found within 30 kilometres of the Ballarat CBD. Disgusting. First Lance, now Manti Te’o.(snip)Manti hoaxed us about his dead girlfriend. Apparently she never actually existed; she was a composite. Seriously, who would do that? I predict a future in politics for that boy…Manti, I mean. (is that racist?). Butt enough of that, we have bigger catfish to fry. Did you watch BO’s lecture on guns yesterday? I know you’re going to get all over me about this - butt isn’t that little pawn girl on the left dressed rather inappropriately? I mean, really; a sleeveless dress? In January? To meet with the President? Who does...

Hello Freepers, I am seeking some insight from any electricians out there before I proceed. I have a house at the beach in Long Island, NY which was hit with 5 feet of water under the house. The electrical panel was under water, but is fairly new (maybe 6 years.) The question I have is, does the entire panel box have to be replaced, or would it just be the individual breakers? LI Power will require signoff from a licensed electrician before they restore power. Also, if you could provide some rough estimates of what it should cost out there...
