  • Police departments admit losing military weapons

The Pentagon has banned 145 law enforcement agencies from receiving surplus military weapons and supplies, part of a program under scrutiny after police in combat gear responded to protests in Ferguson, MO. In each case examined by the Cox Washington bureau, the departments were suspended after losing high-powered weapons. The Daytona Beach Police Department was blacklisted after reporting a lost Colt M16 rifle in January. "We still have not been able to find it," Daytona Beach Police spokesman Jimmie Flynt said.

There has been a lot of interest in the current “Crimes Against Humanity” lawsuit against me by Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG) and the so-called Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), but this is not the first time the LGBT movement has tried to silence me by use of the courts. In fact, the SMUG lawsuit is the 5th such attack I have suffered in my career. Following is an excerpt from my privately published book of testimonial stories about the Miracles that God has done in my life, titled My Life in His Hands. This excerpt is from Chapter 8, “The...

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Malaysia Airlines will cut 6,000 workers as part of a $1.9 billion overhaul announced Friday to revive its damaged brand after being hit by double passenger jet disasters. The staff reduction represents about 30 percent of its current workforce of 20,000. A search for a new CEO is underway, but there is no move to change the airline's name, which some branding experts had said was necessary for a successful makeover....

The U.N. racism watchdog urged the United States on Friday to halt the excessive use of force by police after the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager by a white policeman touched off riots in Ferguson, Missouri. Minorities, particularly African Americans, are victims of disparities, the U.N. Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) said after examining the U.S. record. "Racial and ethnic discrimination remains a serious and persistent problem in all areas of life from de facto school segregation, access to health care and housing," Noureddine Amir, CERD committee vice chairman, told a news briefing. Teenager Michael...

The case of Mehdi Nemmouche haunts U.S. intelligence officials. Nemmouche is a Frenchman who authorities say spent 11 months fighting with the Islamic State group in Syria before returning to Europe to act out his rage. On May 24, prosecutors say, he methodically shot four people at the Jewish Museum in central Brussels. Three died instantly, one afterward. Nemmouche was arrested.

The Middle East conflict is framed as one of the most complex problems in the world. But, in reality, it's very simple. Israelis want to live in peace and are willing to accept a neighboring Palestinian state. And most Palestinians do not want Israel to exist. As Dennis Prager explains, this is really all you need to know. In 5 minutes, understand how Israel was founded, and how, since that auspicious day in 1948, its neighbors have tried to destroy it, again and again.

Southern Utah University has decided to do away with its Harry Reid Outdoor Engagement Center. Not the building itself, but the current Senate majority leader’s name on the building due to his unpopularity as well as unfulfilled promises in donations. The St. George Spectrum reports that university president Scott Wyatt and local officials began receiving calls for Reid, a one-time SUU Thunderbird, to no longer have his name on the building. “We had people step up and pledge money towards removing his name. In five days I received pledges totaling $40,000 — in just five days,” said a city councilman in...

Muslim relatives of a woman conspired to kill her by placing gasoline in one of her kitchen bottles, causing her to catch fire while cooking and burn to death. The reason? Earlier she had converted to Christianity and refused to return to Islam. Now her husband (also an apostate to Christianity) and children are homeless and on the run; nor will police and other family members help them. The full story follows: Nazeera receiving hospital treatment after fire attack. (Morning Star News via Saeed) On the morning of June 9 in southern Yemen, Saeed woke to the sound of screaming....

Eat the Good of the Land Today's Scripture “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land.” (Isaiah 1:19, NIV) Today's Word from Joel and Victoria God wants you to have the best in life. He wants to give you the good of the land. God tells us in His Word how to take hold of His promises in our lives. Notice this verse doesn’t say that just obedience will cause you to eat the good of the land; it says we have to be willing and obedient. In other words, God isn’t...

The Unsurpassed Intimacy of Tested Faith " Jesus said to her, ’Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?’ —John 11:40 " Every time you venture out in your life of faith, you will find something in your circumstances that, from a commonsense standpoint, will flatly contradict your faith. But common sense is not faith, and faith is not common sense. In fact, they are as different as the natural life and the spiritual. Can you trust Jesus Christ where your common sense cannot trust Him? Can you venture...

Perry Rips Obama for 'Dithering' on ISIS Decision Aug 29, 2014 By JOHN PARKINSON and ARLETTE SAENZ A pair of possible 2016 Republican presidential candidates attacked President Obama’s blunt admission that he does not yet have a strategy to counter ISIS militants in Syria, just as the White House tried to clarify the president’s intention. At a conservative gathering in Dallas, Texas Gov. Rick Perry slammed the president for “dithering” on a decision of whether to launch airstrikes against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, accusing the president of “always playing catch-up” on the world stage. President Obama Says...

Jesse Benton, the campaign manager for U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, will resign his post as a bribery scandal from the 2012 presidential campaign threatens to envelop Benton and become a major distraction for McConnell's campaign. Benton told the Herald-Leader that he met with McConnell Friday afternoon and offered his resignation, which McConnell "reluctantly accepted." Benton said he offered his resignation, effective Saturday, with a "heavy heart." He maintained his innocence, faulting "inaccurate press accounts and unsubstantiated media rumors." "This decision breaks my heart, but I know it is the right thing for Mitch, for Kentucky and for the...

Three months later, Foley had been kidnapped. Two years later, on another August, a former branch of Al Qaeda chopped off his head. A Beheading Ends All Illusions...

GATINEAU — A former physical education teacher from Quebec has been sentenced to 20 months in jail for carrying on a two-year sexual relationship with a high school student. Despite her pleas in Gatineau court Friday to serve her sentence in the community, Tania Pontbriand received an 18-month sentence for two counts of sexual exploitation and a 20-month sentence for one count of sexual assault. She will serve the sentences concurrently. She was also sentenced to two years’ probation following her jail term. Pontbriand was convicted of the three offences in January for having a sexual relationship with her student...

California Democratic State Senator Ricardo Lara of Long Beach, CA hailed the passage of SB-1159, lifting citizenship requirements to the state's Business and Professions code. The bill first proposed by the California Democrat in February of this year, will allow illegal aliens to obtain all professional licenses, including the practice of medicine. Senator Lara, long tied to Latino activist groups long-cited for racist attitudes and rhetoric against white, black and Asian Americans, celebrated the passage with an announcement on Twitter. The bill is largely a "red pen" measure in which Lara and his allies in Sacramento simply amending current California...

Don’t bet that the American gun rally is over just yet. This week gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson sharply lowered the sales outlook that it laid out just two months ago. Smith & Wesson and its listed peer Sturm, Ruger are down 15 and 30 per cent respectively since January. The simplistic explanation is that purchases of guns after the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre have abated as it became clear that tightened gun control would not be forthcoming. But that is only part of the reason for the pullback in the share prices. The rest can be explained by...
