Kenneth Starr said Thursday that Attorney General Jeff Sessions was within his right to refuse to answer questions over possible claims of executive privilege. “The attorney general was exactly right. He was protecting executive privilege, he wasn’t asserting it,” Mr. Starr said on CNN. Mr. Starr acted as an independent counsel during the investigation into former President Bill Clinton for charges of perjury and obstruction of justice. He said the repeated question of Mr. Sessions in open session was designed to “embarrass” the attorney general rather than get answers. “He was asked continuously, repetitively, what conversations did you have with...

Not shockingly, the MSM and DC elites have come to the conclusion that the masses are too ignorant to realize what is afoot. Either that, or they have simply stopped caring what the masses think, at least they masses that disagree with the DC elites. What is going on here needs to be summarized from soup to nuts. I have seen bits and pieces of this tossed around here and there, but never an overall view of the coup that is playing out before our eyes. Some talking heads call it an "attempt to de-legitiimize the President" or some such...

RUSH: I read my little tech blogs, and those guys, these young Millennials, the New York Times may as well be the Holy Bible. I can’t tell you how frustrating it is, the things that they believe, particularly about Trump, but also climate change. I had a story — let me see if I can find it here. I didn’t get to it because it really had nothing to do with anything. It was about how another trip to the Arctic to discover global warming had to be postponed because of too much ice. I’ll dig it out here. When...

  • Wyden Asks Spy Chief to Give Third Answer to Question About Domestic Surveillance

    06/15/2017 3:32:44 PM PDT · by deplorableindc · 9 replies
Is Sen. Ron Wyden trying to warn the public about an unknown government surveillance effort that affects domestic communications? The Oregon Democrat isn’t saying, leaving experts guessing as he presses a cryptic inquiry. On Thursday the privacy advocate's office circulated to reporters a letter Wyden sent to Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, demanding that Coats offer a third answer to a question about government surveillance. The question, first asked by Wyden at a June 7 hearing and restated Thursday, seems straightforward: “Can the government use FISA Act Section 702 to collect communications it knows are entirely domestic?” At the...

"This is pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father, to visit orphans and widows in their distress" (James 1:27). Sacrificial love is the hallmark of true Christianity. Recently a local newspaper reported the story of a young woman who had been brutally beaten, sexually assaulted, repeatedly stabbed, then dumped down a hillside and left for dead. Miraculously she survived the attack and crawled up the hill to a spot along the road where several people were parked enjoying the panoramic view of the city. Covered with blood from head to foot, she went from car...

“Then Nebuchadnezzar in rage and anger gave orders to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego; then these men were brought before the king. Nebuchadnezzar responded and said to them, ‘Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden image that I have set up? Now if you are ready, at the moment you hear the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery, and bagpipe, and all kinds of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, very well. But if you will not worship, you will immediately...

22 Foxconn, a Taiwanese corporation that assembles iPhones in East Asia, is considering building a plant in Wisconsin as part of a $7 billion investment that will create up to 50,000 jobs, according to the Associated Press. The investment would be a huge boost to Governor Scott Walker as he prepares to run for re-election in November next year. During a visit to Milwaukee on Tuesday, President Trump hinted at the negotiations, by saying that Walker might “get a very happy surprise soon.” Foxconn’s main production lines are in China, where it employs around 1 million people assembling smartphones for...

Innovation and forward-thinking may be Hawaii's two biggest exports in 2017. Earlier this month, the state earned the distinction of being the first in the U.S. to formally accept the provisions of the Paris Climate Agreement after President Donald Trump decided to withdraw the nation from it, and now, Hawaii is taking the lead in embracing yet another innovative idea: universal basic income (UBI). On June 15, Hawaii state representative Chris Lee wrote a Reddit post about House Concurrent Resolution 89, a bill he says he introduced in order to "start a conversation about our future." According to Lee, "After...

Tim Graham, executive editor of NewsBusters, spoke with Breitbart News Daily SiriusXM host Raheem Kassam on Thursday regarding the media’s reaction to the shooting at a Republican baseball practice that critically injured Rep. Steve Scalise. He also talked about the backlash of Megyn Kelly’s interview with Alex Jones. Graham commented on MSNBC anchor Andrea Mitchell’s reporting on the shooting by saying, “In 2011, when Congresswoman Gabriel Giffords was shot, they jumped on the idea that this was the Tea Party. In Denver, they jumped on the notion that the shooter was the Tea Party. In both cases, they didn’t have...

The New York Works initiative aims to create a total of 100,000 new jobs, in areas ranging from tech to creative and cultural sectors. New York artists seeking studios, nonprofits facing rising rents, and musicians seeking rehearsal spaces may have some reasons to be hopeful about the future. In a new initiative called New York Works, the city government aims to cultivate creative sector jobs and to provide artists with workspaces. On Thursday, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the New York Works initiative, which aims to create 100,000 well-paying jobs (think $50,000 a year or a realistic starting point to...

Eric Schmidt, billionaire chair of Alphabet, Inc. the parent company of Google, led a massive fundraising drive in December for leftist analytics firm Civis Analytics, represented by a law firm that partnered with Justice Department special prosecutor Robert Mueller—raising questions about Mueller’s impartiality in his so-called “Russia probe” into President Donald J. Trump’s campaign. In March 2014, WilmerHale announced Mueller would join its firm as a partner. Mueller left his position in May after the DOJ appointed him as a special prosecutor to look into alleged “ties” between President Trump’s campaign and Russia. WilmerHale represented Civis Analytics during a $22...
  • NYT issues correction to editorial linking Giffords shooting to Palin

The New York Times has published an editor’s note correcting an editorial that linked the 2011 shooting of Rep. Gabby Giffords in Tucson, Ariz., to a fund-raising email by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. The editorial drew complaints from many conservatives and from Palin herself, who hinted she might explore legal action against the newspaper. “An earlier version of this editorial incorrectly stated that a link existed between political incitement and the 2011 shooting of Representative Gabby Giffords,” the note reads in its entirety. “In fact, no such link was established.” The Times did not offer an apology.

James T. Hodgkinson, a 66-year-old man from Illinois, walked onto a baseball diamond Wednesday in Northern Virginia and shot House Majority Whip Steve Scalise. Four others, including a congressional staffer, a lobbyist, and two members of the Capitol Police, were also wounded in the attack. Six years ago, Jared Lee Loughner, a 22-year-old man from Arizona, opened fire outside a grocery store, seriously injuring Democratic Congress member Gabrielle Giffords and killing six others. Full title - Just One Day Before GOP Congressman Attacked, 'The Wire' Creator David Simon Called For Violence: 'Pick Up A Goddam Brick' "That's all that's left to you." A crazed lefty of the Bernie-variety opened fire on several GOP congressman in Virginia who had been practicing for an upcoming charity baseball game against Democrats on Wednesday morning, wounding House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), an aide, and several police officers. Did the shooting occur in a vacuum or did the openly violent rhetoric of prominent leftists inspire his malevolent behavior? Just six months have passed since President Trump's ascendancy...

The two men are deeply alike, sharing a background and core principles. Both educated at Virginia universities with a strong public service tradition (Mueller at the University of Virginia; Comey at William & Mary). They both achieved early success in the Justice Department and found subsequent life at private law firms lucrative but unfulfilling. Just years apart in the 1990s, they both gave up their top-tier private law firm jobs to return to the trenches of prosecuting criminals—Mueller as a junior prosecutor in Washington, DC, and Comey in Richmond, Virginia. Both men were rising stars mentored and guided by Eric...
