After the shooting in Parkland, Florida, when it became clear that the Broward County deputy working at the school that day (and other deputies who arrived soon after the shooting began) did not go into the building to engage Nikolas Cruz during his rampage, some on the pro-gun control side tried to use that as proof that “good guy with a gun†is a ridiculous argument. This week, Congress appropriated $1.3 trillion in spending to fund the federal government for the next six months. Despite threatening to veto the measure, President Trump signed it "for national security reasons." Minority Leaders Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) and Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) claimed victory. "We got more out of this bill than we did when we had the majority and Obama was president," Pelosi boasted. "The GOP's inability to unite on a program they could all support meant that Republican leaders had to buy Democrats to get enough votes to pass the thing. And those votes didn't come cheap....

Today, students from around the country will converge on Washington D.C. and other locations for the “March for Our Lives” rallies. The organizers are survivors of the horrific February 14th shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida that resulted in the deaths of 17 people, both students and faculty members. These rallies will receive massive media attention, which is in stark contrast to the press blackout that is given to the tens of thousands of students who visit our Nation’s Capital every year for the “March for Life” rally. The reason for this double standard is obvious....

... Whether you’re an experienced activist or a first-time marcher, this checklist will help you prepare. ... Fully charge your phone before the march, but in case it dies, write emergency contact numbers on an index card or even your arm. Wear comfortable shoes and enough layers for the temperature. Many activists also recommend bringing a scarf or clean bandana. Not only will it keep you warm, but in the unlikely event tear gas is used, holding a damp scarf to your nose can help you breathe. Bring only the essentials: your ID, cash, a bank card, your phone and...

Every few months, Republicans behave stupidly, causing their voters to again ask themselves, "Why vote Republican?" Supporting congressional Republicans seems an exercise in futility – Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown, ready to kick a conservative field goal, only to have Lucy pull the football away at the last second. I have asked this question several times on these pages. We all know the words to the Republican song we have heard every two years for the past decade. The first verse was written in 2010, when Republicans claimed they needed to win the House so they could repeal...

THE PRESIDENT’S national security adviser is meant to coordinate policy formation inside the administration, manage disagreements among agencies and tee up important decisions, while separately advising the president of his or her own views. John Bolton, whom President Trump has said will take over the position next month, is unsuited for that role. His record is that of a rigid, bombastic ideologue with a history of bullying colleagues and twisting intelligence. His advocacy of extreme policies, including preventive war against North Korea and Iran, could lead Mr. Trump and the country to catastrophe.

"Give us this day our daily bread" (Matt. 6:11). God is glorified when He meets your needs. In America, praying for our daily bread hardly seems necessary. Most people need to pray for self-control to avoid overeating! But Matthew 6:11 isn't talking about food only. It is a statement of dependency on God and an acknowledgment that He alone provides all of life's basic necessities. Sad to say, however, many people today have reduced prayer to a means of self-fulfillment. Recently a woman sent me a booklet and wrote, "I don't think you understand the true resource we have in...

“He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross” (Philippians 2:8). In His suffering and death, Jesus is our supreme example of humility. We naturally react to injustice with deep hurt and an assertion of our rights. But Jesus’ response to His accusers did not include one word of angry defensiveness. Matthew 27:12-14 tells us: “And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He made no answer. Then Pilate said to Him, ‘Do You not hear how many things they testify against You?’ And He did not answer him...

ARMAGH, Northern Ireland, March 23, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – A teenage boy at St. Patrick’s Grammar School in Northern Ireland refused a teacher’s request that he hang up a poster promoting an “LGBTQ+ youth forum.” The boy and his parents are complaining that such a poster doesn’t belong in a Catholic school. “We are sending our children to get a Catholic education in a renowned Catholic school,” the boy’s father told the Irish Times, speaking anonymously. The poster his son was asked to hang was “promoting a lifestyle that we vehemently disagree with.” The student’s parents have retained a lawyer (solicitor),...

“Given Pompeo’s credentials, the New York Times assured us this Tuesday that this Trump appointment could actually manage to get the world to miss Rex Tillerson.” (Cuba’s Communist-party paper Granma, March 13.)No surprise here. In fact, historically it’s very commonplace. To wit: when the propaganda ministry of the mass-murdering, terror-sponsoring totalitarian regime whose lifelong craving was to nuke the U.S. seeks to vilify the U.S.—instead of tasking their KGB-trained apparatchiks with cranking out a vicious, lie-filled anti-U.S. diatribe, they simply quote the editorial board of The New York Times. But perhaps the term “historically-commonplace” strikes some of my amigos as unnecessarily...

Declassified documents revealed the 38 towns and cities which UK officials believed would be the prime targets for Russia. And this was alongside another 70 targets of military bases, communication centres, airfields and other pieces of key infrastructure believed to be at risk during the Cold War. Death tolls predictions reveal the attack like this today would kill instantly killed 7.7 million Brits in the towns and cities alone, based on the size of nuclear weapons in Vladimir Putin’s arsenal.

History is now who stood for Liberty, Freedom, and Justice, and who did their best to rob it from the people they swore an oath to protect. Why do Americans pay to protect millionaire past presidents for life? The past can be a scary thing to think about when it was spent only thinking of oneself, with other peoples money. Who would rob the poor for self gain? The same one that would do whatever it takes to keep it all going? Nearly all of the highest-profile domestic terrorism plots in the United States since 9/11 featured the “direct involvement”...

Why would the Catholic Church accept a deal in which the Communist Party nominated Catholic bishops? Of all the disturbing and even silly things that have been said in defense of the deal between the Vatican and China reportedly being negotiated, the most offensive is that critics of this proposed arrangement to regularize Catholic life in the PRC don’t understand that the Cold War is over and the world is in a new situation. This is preposterous. Of course we critics know the Cold War of 1945–1991 is over — and we remember that those alleging we don’t know that weren’t...

Author of “The Coming Collapse of China”, Gordon Chang, discusses the effect of President Trump’s tariffs on China and the epic battle ahead. Last night China announced their feeble retaliatory actions – SEE HERE. A professionally nervous Maria Bartiromo, frames a series of questions from the perspective of Wall Street. Fortunately Gordon Chang understands the Red Dragon, and more importantly understands Chinese Chairman Xi Jinping’s geopolitical goals through economic conquest. Mr. Chang is one of the few people who appear regularly in media and know the truth behind the Panda Mask. People often talk about the ‘strength’ of China’s economic...

Could there be anything less American than driverless cars? I suppose sexbots might quality but certainly driverless cars are right up there. Why would you NOT want to drive this?Seriously, driverless cars have no place in the land that practically invented the open road, hit-the-road-Jack-never-come-back motif. And Michael Walsh agrees: …these vehicles are emasculating, imprisoning, anti-American, and inhuman. And now, in the wake of the first fatal accident involving an “autonomous vehicle,” they’re deadly as well. Whence comes this rush to robot cars? Did the public demand it? Or have our betters in the tech industry and in the bowels of...

John Bolton is expected to "launch a massive shake-up" when he takes over next month at the National Security Council to clear out leaks, Foreign Policy magazine reported Friday. "Bolton can and will clean house," one former White House official told the magazine. A second former White House official was more blunt: "Everyone who was there during Obama years should start packing their s**t." And another source said that Bolton "is going to remove almost all the political [appointees] McMaster brought in." President Donald Trump tweeted Thursday that Bolton, 69, the former United Nations ambassador, would succeed National Security Adviser...

While we are all, at face value, so disappointed with Trumps' signature on this bill, perhaps there is a silver lining that has not yet surfaced....My question is, as Obama did, can Trump slow-walk, re-direct or even withhold funding for any aspect of this Omnibus Bill? This bill is not protected by the Constitution, as is a 'Budget'......Does anyone have any productive input on this subject?
