The warplanes, a mix of at least 14 MiG-29 fighters and Su-24 fighter-bombers, appear to have taken off from a base in Russia sometime in the middle of May and flown to Hmeimeem, Russia’s airbase on Syria’s Mediterranean coast. There they were repainted, their Russian Federation Air Force markings obscured, before flying more than 1,200 miles and landing in eastern Libya, in territories controlled by Russia’s ally, strongman-in-waiting Khalifa Haftar. The deployment, which the Pentagon revealed last week and Moscow denied, is the latest in a series of escalations that have seen all types of weapons — Turkish and Emirati...

The mayor of Atlanta, one of dozens of U.S. cities hit by massive protests, has a message for demonstrators: “If you were out protesting last night, you probably need to go get a COVID test this week.” As more beaches, churches, mosques, schools and businesses reopened worldwide, civil unrest in the United States over repeated racial injustice is raising fears of new coronavirus outbreaks in a country that has more infections and deaths than anywhere else in the world. We’re supposed to believe it’s white supremacists causing all the disruption. Media members, content to blame nationwide rioting and looting on President Donald Trump, forwarded a false story this morning that white nationalists are being fingered as the culprits behind the majority of the crimes we saw in Minneapolis. There’s a number of protesters who think the violence is justified, so they won’t condemn it. They’ll either give silent approval or flat out make excuses. And they bring shame to their message — one that George Floyd’s family said he wouldn’t support. But they won’t listen to that. What started...

Her Twitter feed is of course loaded with anti-Trump hysteria, and she sees white supremacists under every rock and in every closet. There you go. An enabler...

For most of Donald Trump’s brief political career, chaos has been his friend. He draws energy from an endless storm of difficulties and controversies that would send most presidents into the fetal position. Critics and supporters alike compare his presidency to a reality television show, one that always ends with the leading man getting the last word. From Russia, Russia, Russia to Ukraine and impeachment, Trump’s time in the White House has been a continuing roller-coaster ride between danger on one side and disaster on the other. A political Houdini, he has always escaped and emerged stronger in victory, but...

So right now, United States is a representative democracy. People elect their congress to make, alter, abolish, or to do anything related to the bill. The problem for me is that, congress can make false promises, get pressured by small minority of people, simply vote for the wrong person, and so on. I propose that U.S. should have a semi-direct democracy system similar to Switzerland except the votes will be based on cities where ever the mayors have jurisdiction. If majority of people in that city votes for a law, then it would count as one vote for that city...
