The network has handed out early series orders to two of its most high-profile pilots this season, both hailing from its sibling studio 20th Century Fox TV: 24: Legacy and Lee Daniels' Star. Corey Hawkins will star in the pilot for “24: Legacy” — the “24” revival series in the works at Fox — Variety has learned. The “Straight Outta Compton” alum has nabbed the leading role of Eric Carter in the pilot. As previously reported, the new “24” will not bring back Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer, so while Hawkins’ character is not a direct replacement, he will topline the potential series. Freddie Prinze Jr. had such an awful experience acting opposite Kiefer Sutherland in 24 that he "wanted to quit the business," he said. The actor explained to ABC News that working with Sutherland was "terrible." "I did 24, and it was terrible. I hated every moment of it," Prinze said. I have to say, I did not see this one coming at all. It's one thing to revive a series that's been dormant for many years, like TNT has done successfully with Dallas, but has there ever been a case of a show coming back only four years after it ended? Fox is looking to restart the clock on 24. The network is looking to bring back the Emmy-winning real-time thriller as a limited series event, Deadline reports. No deals are in place in front of or behind the screen, but Kiefer Sutherland is said to be in early talks to reprise his role as Jack Bauer.
