This story by Bernard Goldberg certainly takes me back to the early days of my blogging career. Shortly after the 2004 Republican convention, Mary Mapes produced a segment for 60 Minutes II that alleged that George W. Bush had manipulated his enlistment in the Texas Air National Guard to avoid serving in combat in Vietnam. The documents used by CBS, Mapes, and Dan Rather turned out to be clumsy hoaxes, which the blogosphere exposed through careful review of their substance and their form (the latter of which I played a small part in refuting, with my expertise in printing and...

On the eve of the first Democratic presidential debate, President Obama is downplaying Hillary Rodham Clinton’s use of a private email server to conduct government business, saying she made a “mistake” but didn’t endanger national security. “I think she’d be the first to acknowledge that maybe she could have handled the original decision better and the disclosures more quickly,” Mr. Obama said in an interview on CBS’ “60 Minutes” broadcast Sunday night. “I don’t think it posed a national security problem. It was a mistake that she has acknowledged.” When interviewer Steve Kroft pointed out that the administration has prosecuted...

Trump says people will turn off tomorrow's Democratic primary debate – because he's not in it! 'I think people are going to turn it on for a couple of minutes and then fall asleep,' Trump told a Fox News audience Claimed 'a person at CNN' said that 'we have to put Donald Trump in this debate. We're going to die with it' First two GOP debates drew 24 million and 23 million viewers, largely on the strength of Trump's participation Hammered Obama for '60 Minutes' appearance: 'I watched his performance last night and I thought it was terrible' Tuesday's first...

Veteran newsman Dan Rather says Donald Trump could be headed to the White House. "I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility he gets elected," Rather, former "60 Minutes" correspondent and "CBS Evening News" anchor, told The Hollywood Reporter. "I said in the beginning he's not going to go away quickly. He isn't going to be the shooting star that goes away. "Because whatever else you think of Donald Trump, he is smart, he's very television smart. Donald Trump certainly has a good shot at the nomination. But Rather believes Trump must provide many more details on his ambitious...

President Obama now says he never believed in the $500-million program to train and equip the moderate Syrian opposition. The administration last week halted the failed program, which ended up “training” fewer than 100 Syrians, all but four or five of whom deserted or died after the Americans tried to turn them into anti-ISIS fighters. “Steve, this is why I’ve been skeptical from the get-go about the notion that we were going to effectively create this proxy army inside Syria,” Obama told CBS’ Steve Kroft during an interview for “60 Minutes.” …

Do we dare watch '60 Minutes', or are we being suckered into watching it. I cannot believe that they would be anything other than obsequious.

President Barack Obama got “feisty” during an interview about Russian President Vladimir Putin, as one CBS News anchor put it. In the interview, set to air Sunday on “60 Minutes,” Obama immediately pushed back from reporter Steve Kroft’s line of questioning about America’s leadership around the world, particularly in the Middle East. “A year ago, when we did this interview, there was some saber-rattling between the United States and Russia on the Ukrainian border,” Kroft said. “Now it’s also going on in Syria. You said a year ago that the United States, America leads, that we are the indispensable nation....

Donald Trump does not trust Russian President Vladimir Putin, but he is supportive of one thing Putin is doing on the world stage. During an interview with "Meet The Press" Sunday, Trump told moderator Chuck Todd that he supports Putin going out and "bombing the hell" out of the Islamic State in Syria, despite that they are doing so to support Syrian President Bashir al-Assad. "I like that Putin is bombing the hell out of ISIS, and it's going to be ISIS. I'll tell you why — Putin has to get rid of ISIS because Putin doesn't want ISIS coming...

Kennedy, in a book scheduled to be released Monday, provides an intimate picture of a dysfunctional family and some of its well-publicized struggles with alcoholism and mental health issues — and what he describes as a blanket of secrecy that papered over their problems...The book, which Kennedy will discuss on CBS’s “60 Minutes” Sunday night, is bound to rile other members of the famous family. “I know how some of them are going to react,” Kennedy says in a brief excerpt from the show released by CBS. “They’re angry.” He describes a drunken sailing trip in 2000 that turned out...

Sunday night’s ratings are in, and while football is still king, GOP frontrunner Donald Trump helped CBS to take second place. Trump’s Sunday evening interview with 60 Minutes, in which Russian President Vladimir Putin was also interviewed by Charlie Rose, brought in big ratings for CBS, which finished only behind NBC’s Sunday Night Football. ... Scott Pelley’s sit-down with GOP frontrunner Donald Trump brought in 15 million viewers, for second place with a 2.9/9 rating among the key demo. Trump candidly criticized the media, teased his tax plan and advocated for the middle class during the interview. ... Fox came...

During his “60 Minutes” interview Sunday, Republican presidential front-runner appeared to come out in favor of a form of single payer health insurance for the uninsured ... and openly called for raising taxes on the wealthy.

YoutTube Video: Donald Trump Endorses Universal Health Care - "The Government's Gonna Pay For It." On Sunday’s episode of 60 Minutes on CBS, Donald Trump said that “Obamacare is a disaster†and that he plans to repeal it and replace it with a government-funded universal healthcare plan.During the lengthy interview, CBS correspondent Scott Pelley asked billionaire real estate mogul and 2016 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump his position on healthcare reform. “Obamacare’s going to be repealed and replaced. Obamacare is a disaster if you look at what’s going on with premiums where they’re up 40, 50, 55 percent,†replied Trump.Pelley...

BATON ROUGE – On 60 Minutes Sunday, Donald Trump made one thing perfectly clear – he supports a new federal entitlement program to give free government funded health care to every American. This is how the Donald described ‘Trumpcare’ on 60 Minutes:Scott Pelley: Universal health care.Donald Trump: I am going to take care of everybody. I don’t care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now.Scott Pelley: The uninsured person is going to be taken care of. How? How?Donald Trump: They’re going to be taken care...

Last night, Donald Trump sat down with Scott Pelley on ’60 Minutes’ and made a gloriously confused barrage of promises and wishcasting about taxes, Social Security, ISIL, trade, and immigration. There’s a lot in there, but for my money his most laughable comments were about repealing Obamacare. Here’s the key section: Scott Pelley: What’s your plan for Obamacare?Donald Trump: Obamacare’s going to be repealed and replaced. Obamacare is a disaster if you look at what’s going on with premiums where they’re up 40, 50, 55 percent.Scott Pelley: How do you fix it?Donald Trump: There’s many different ways, by the...

Anyone watch Charlie Rose didn't get in Vlad's face about homosexuality in tonight's interview. For YEARS now, the American media has screamed bloody murder about Russia not celebrating homosexuality. Laws to protect children were passed....but the media called it oppression. Charlie Rose must not have thought such questions worthy of asking Vlad during their televised interview.

Donald Trump is firing salvo after salvo tonight on 60 Minutes. He's winning the arguments in a hostile, communist environment. The unhinged far-left interviewer, Scott Pelley, may have been born in Texas but he's not a true Texan because he rejected the Conservative Christian (and Jewish) values of the Lone Star state. Since Pelley (like Dan Rather, Walter KKKronkite and Egbert R. Murrow) is a limp-wristed metrosexual who hates America, it's great to see him getting TRUMPED! Go Trump go! Attack! Attack! Attack!

It’s remarkable watching Donald Trump eviscerate the mainstream media. If this was “The Matrix” he’s Neo. If this was “Star Trek,” I’d be like Spock studying a new intelligent life in the universe that feeds off its own popularity: the more energy put into killing it, the stronger it gets. Trump is the hate eater; he digests abhorrence and excretes devotion. “Fascinating,” the Spock in me says, watching Trump effortlessly turn “60 Minutes” host Scott Pelley into Jell-O, then deliver his own sound bite right on cue. It wasn’t even challenging for the master of manipulation, like Bruce Lee playing...

60 Minutes traveled to Tehran for an interview with Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani last week (whole thing and a little more here). Steve Kroft conducted the interview. Among other things, Kroft joined President Obama in defaming the American opponents of the deal with Iran. This is part and parcel of the operation of CBS News as an arm of the Democratic Party (see, e.g., Sharyl Attkisson’s invaluable memoir Stonewalled). David Rhodes is the president of CBS News and the brother of Obama national security adviser Ben Rhodes. But it is worse than that. There is a long and dishonorable tradition...

STEVE KROFT: I'm sure you realized the difficulty for many Americans to get past the fact that President Obama has signed an agreement with a country that says: "Death to America, death to Israel." What are they to make of it? Is this for internal Iranian political consumption? What are Americans to make of the language? PRESIDENT ROUHANI: The Iranian people are not looking for war with any country. "There has been much ferocious, negative comments about the deal in Iran as there have been in the United States," Kroft told "CBS This Morning" Friday about the long-awaited nuclear agreement....
