KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - Opposition leader and former defense chief Ahmed Shah Massood was injured and his close aide was killed Sunday in an explosion in northern Afghanistan, said Hajji Kahar, an opposition spokesman. Two men from Algeria posing as journalists apparently hid the explosive device in their camera, Kahar told The Associated Press in a satellite telephone interview from Khodja Bahauddin in northern Takhar province, where the explosion occurred. An al-Qaida-linked extremist group warned Pope Benedict XVI on Monday that he and the West were "doomed," as protesters raged across the Muslim world to demand more of an apology from the pontiff for his remarks about Islam and violence. The Mujahedeen Shura Council, an umbrella organization of Sunni Arab extremist groups that includes al-Qaida in Iraq, issued a statement on a Web forum vowing to continue its holy war against the West. The authenticity of the statement could not be independently verified. The group said Muslims would be victorious and addressed the pope as "the worshipper of the cross"...

Can anyone tell me where the archive posts that were done on 9/11/01 are located?

Like most, I sat stunned watching the screen on Tuesday 11th, as the terrible events unfolded in front of us. It took some time to appreciate the full horror. Two things that brought it home to me most strongly were the interviews with the survivors and the still photographs that began to come out. Seeing the videos and TV footage was highly dramatic but somehow unreal. The first news of the attack came from a colleague, a New Yorker who was visibly shaken, although she had fortunately been able to make immediate contact with her family who were safe. ...

Channel 4 in Pittsburgh reporting that 747 has crashed in Sommerset County, southeast of Pittsburgh. Different reports say plane may have been from New York or Cleveland bound for Chicago Also heard on KDKA radio that a plane was hijacked from Allegheny County airport. Do not know if reports are related.

FOX is reporting that another aircraft is en route. ALso a lane just hit the Pentagon!

We just saw a SECOND plane crash into the OTHER tower on Fox NEWS!

The LibertyNews mirror of Eric Krout's 9/11 Attack image archive is up and running again. This is an archive of images collected in the days just after the attacks, and has not been updated except for the addition of a few audio files. It provides a good snapshot of what we were seeing and hearing in the chaotic days following the terrorist attacks on New York and the Pentagon.
