The day dawns bright and clear as the first rays of an Atlantic Ocean sunrise glint off incoming jets at Boston's Logan International Airport.Across the Charles River, in the city, traffic builds, then crawls. NEW YORK (AP) -- Port Authority officials say the world's largest American flag will hang from the George Washington Bridge starting tomorrow as a tribute to the victims of September 11th. The 450-pound banner is 90 feet tall and 60 feet wide, and will remain until dusk on Monday.

Rescue 1, which was the first rescue company established in the entire United States, fights fires underground, pries people from high-rise elevators and pulls them from burning buildings. Their response area extends more than 100 Manhattan blocks. The men of FDNY’s elite Rescue 1 unit are specialists, called in to fight the unusual fires, free trapped firefighters, and save lives. One minute, they’re inside a high-rent high rise that’s spewing scalding steam onto Wall Street. The next, they’re racing uptown to a help a homeless man living under a bridge who has been hit by a train. They were heroes...

As the fifth anniversary of 9-11 approaches there will be a large variety of memorial services, Freedom walks and remembrance ceremonies throughout the nation as we once again come to grips with the loss of so many of our citizens in such a dramatic way. This year the blogosphere community has united to express its sorrow and participate in the nation’s mourning as only the blogosphere can. Over three thousand bloggers have now joined the online project 2996: A Tribute to the Victims of 9-11 to give each victim of that day an individual tribute in their honor. Starting as...

A few months ago, I signed up at www.dcroe.com to pay tribute to one of the innocent people killed 9/11. The goal was to bring together 2,996 bloggers, assign them an individual killed on that fateful day, and then write a tribute to their lives. The name I was given was Ted Hennessy. "We will honor them by remembering their lives, and not by remembering their murderers. I hope I do him justice. Image from September11victims.com

Tonight on ABC's "Primetime," Diane Sawyer reunites a group of children born to women widowed on Sept. 11. It's the first time the entire group (children and moms), has been together since Sawyer first featured them in June 2002 - and it's easy to see how the kids, who were all born after Sept. 11, have grown since then. In tonight's special, Sawyer chats with the Sept. 11 widows, and their kids, about how their lives have changed in the intervening five years. She also asks the moms how they've explained Sept. 11 to their children, who are now old...

Yesterday I was listening to Limbaugh's radio show and he mentioned that illegal aliens were killed in the 9/11 World Trade Center towers. He said that their families were compensated $3-5 million. That's $3-5 million per family. He also said that they could not qualify for leagal status but were compensated anyway. Can anyone confirm this ? Are there articles written to confirm this?

The Blood of 9/11 Demands It by Mychal Massie In the not so distant past, Americans were as committed to their security as they were a work ethic. Today there exists an element in America that is committed to abortion, homosexuality, removing God from the public square and the deprivation of what it takes to secure the aforementioned. Just five years removed from the worst act of barbarism perpetrated upon Americans in our history, we have 535 elected so-called representatives that are committed to preserving their seats in Congress and their pensions. In days past we had leaders like George...

New DNA technology is reportedly to be used in a bid to identify remains of New York's September 11 victims which are still unclaimed, giving hope to more than 1,000 families who never had any part of their loved ones' bodies to bury. The city's Medical Examiner's Office is set to pay $1.5m (€900,000) to a firm that will use a powerful, computer-based system to match damaged or partial DNA samples with those provided by relatives, according to the New York Post. Identifiable remains of some 42% of those killed when the World Trade Centre was attacked - 1,151 out...

Yesterday, the New York Daily News wrote: The hucksters who two years ago tried to peddle the fraudulent Freedom Tower Silver Dollar are back with an even more offensive scheme for trading on the memory of 9/11 for money. They go by the name of the National Collector's Mint of Port Chester, N.Y., and they're marketing a monstrosity called the 2001-2006 World Trade Center Commemorative over the Web and on late-night cable TV. You've got to see it to believe it. SEE IT AND READ THE REST

A nun who spent six months blessing human remains in the rubble at Ground Zero says she is dying of lung disease and wants her body autopsied to prove that she and her fellow 9/11 workers were sickened by the poisonous air at the site. Sister Cindy Mahoney, 54, summoned David Worby, the lawyer representing thousands of sick Ground Zero workers, to her Aiken, S.C., hospice last week and requested that he act as her guardian and fulfill her dying wish by overseeing her autopsy after she's gone. "I can still do God's work," Mahoney said Thursday in Aiken, her...

Attorney, Columnist & New York Times Bestselling Author Ann Coulter has come under a lot of fire lately for comments made about four 9/11 widows in her new book Godless: The Church of Liberalism. The Hildebeast, Hillary Rotten Clinton issued a statement denouncing Coulter's comments about the widows, known as "The Jersey Girls." Two Democrat lawmakers from New Jersey love free speech so much that they want her book banned in the state. Finally, Advertising Age outdid them all and asked Coulter to "kill herself." Did Coulter have a valid point how the Left exploits these families losses? Yes she...

A deputy mayor in the Giuliani administration who directed officials to test the air after the 9/11 attacks has filed a medical claim for respiratory illnesses suspected to have been caused by the pollution at Ground Zero, The Post has learned. Rudy Washington, who was caught in the plume of dust and debris after the first of the Twin Towers fell and who worked tirelessly downtown for weeks, is the highest-ranking official known to have fallen ill from a suspected WTC-related ailment. Washington's claim for his rising medical expenses, filed about a year ago, was approved recently after a state...

As they push their investigation into the health risks to workers in the recovery and cleanup operations at ground zero, medical detectives are focusing on a group of lung diseases that can lead to long-term disabilities and, in some cases, death. After nearly five years, it is still too early for these doctors, scientists and forensic pathologists to say with certainty whether any long-term cancer threat came with exposure to the toxic cloud unleashed by the trade center collapse. But there are already clear signs that the dust, smoke and ash that responders breathed in have led to an increase...

The death of a 34-year-old police detective who developed respiratory disease after working at ground zero is ``directly related'' to Sept. 11, 2001, a New Jersey coroner said in the first known ruling positively linking a death to cleanup work at the World Trade Center site. James Zadroga's family and union released his autopsy results Tuesday, saying they were proof of the first death of a city police officer related to recovery work after the terrorist attacks. "It is felt with a reasonable degree of medical certainty that the cause of death in this case was directly related to...

For the first time, the government played 911 audiotapes of two people trapped inside the World Trade Center, each screaming into the phone while trying desperately to summon emergency crews to burning offices high above Manhattan. "I'm going to die, aren't I?" cried Melissa Doi, 32, who said she was lying on the floor, trying to find fresh air in a south tower engulfed in smoke and fire. Sixteen stories above her, on the 99th floor, Kevin Cosgrove, 46, cried, "I'm not ready to die!" Both died that day. So did Peter Hanson, his wife, Sue Kim, and their 2-year-old...

Rick Rescorla helped save thousands before losing his life at World Trade Center In Susan Rescorla's eyes, the very traits that made her late husband a hero on 9/11 were forged on the battlefields of Vietnam almost 40 years ago. "He was a soldier... and a warrior," she whispered, shortly after an Al Reid portrait of Rick Rescorla, an Officer Candidate School Hall of Famer who led more than 2,700 Morgan Stanley employees to safety after terrorists crashed a plane into the World Trade Center, was unveiled Thursday at the National Infantry Museum. "He made one last sweep, as he'd...
