In January 2009, when the president took office, there were only 21,928,000 foreign-born workers employed. The BLS does not distinguish between legal immigrants who are permitted to work here and illegal aliens in this data set. While the number of employed foreign-born workers is increasing, the number of native-born workers has declined. For the...

Congress allowed a fee intended to discourage outsourcing by companies that rely on H-1B visas to replace U.S. workers to expire Wednesday night. “Congress watched employers discriminate against Americans in hiring and firing, and then ship American jobs overseas. Congress promised to do something about these pernicious practices -- and it did. It made them cheaper,” IEEE-USA President Jim Jefferies said. The $2,000 outsourcing fee (along with a $2,150 fee on L-1 visas) applies only to firms with more than 50 percent of their workforce on H-1B or L-1 visas, a small percentage of tech employers, including the top outsourcing...

Rep Luis V. Gutiérrez, one of Congress’ most outspoken advocates for immigrants, on Wednesday called for expanding the Affordable Care Act to cover all of the estimated 11 million undocumented migrants in the United States.“The goal is to make integration and inclusion real for millions of families that are locked out under current law,” the Illinois Democrat said in a floor speech introducing his proposed legislation.“As it stands right now, undocumented immigrants are not subject to the individual mandate and cannot buy into health insurance exchanges even if they use their own money. My legislation will change that. It says...

The United States is being deluged with illegal immigrants, spurred on by the hope of amnesty. In response, conservative lawmakers have introduced a wide array of legislative proposals to clamp down on illegal immigration. Breitbart News can now exclusively report that, despite Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)80% ’s campaign rhetoric, the presidential hopeful hasn’t cosponsored a single one of these immigration enforcement proposals, nor introduced any of his own in the two years since he was the very public face of the Gang of Eight in the Senate.

He's not expecting a vote, though. Many undocumented immigrants who pay taxes would be able to access Obamacare under a long-shot bill introduced Wednesday by Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-Ill.). The Affordable Care Act currently limits access to its exchanges and subsidies to those "lawfully present." That means the approximately 11.3 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. are not eligible for Obamacare, nor can they shop on the exchanges if their employer does not provide them with coverage. Gutiérrez's bill would open the exchanges and extend the subsidies to undocumented immigrants who provide proof of state residency and tax filings. It...

by Peter Kirsanow October 1, 2015 9:55 AM Last week I mentioned the U.S.Comission on Civil Rights’ flawed report to the president and Congress on detention facilities for illegal aliens. Among other things, the report claims that Americans who are concerned about illegal aliens’ involvement in crime are, well, confused. If you read my dissent to the report (I’m a member of the commission), however, you’ll quickly discover that it’s the report that’s confused – dramatically so. Unfortunately, my dissent was omitted when the report was issued two weeks ago ( I know of no other instance in which this...

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907. 'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else...

This German town renowned for its rococo palace threw open its doors to arriving waves of refugees. Donations from clothing drives filled four garages. The volunteer fire department pitched in to build a tent city at the local airport that now teems with 1,400 migrants. But like other Germans in a country that has rolled out the welcome mat for Europe’s largest wave of asylum-seekers since World War II, residents here are now having second thoughts.

Christian migrants in German asylum centres are living under threat, fearing for their lives as the hardline Sunni majority within migrant population enforce Sharia law. The situation is so bad Christians claim they live like “prisoners” in Germany, and some have even returned to Middle East. [excerpt] “In Iran, the Revolutionary Guards have arrested my brother in a house church. I fled the Iranian intelligence, because I thought in Germany I can finally live freely,” says Said, a Christian who fled persecution. “But I can not openly admit that I am a Christian. I will be threatened. “We must rid ourselves...

The world famous physicist has admitted that if aliens came to visit Earth, the outcome might not be a positive oneStephen Hawking has tackled the mysteries of the universe his entire life. Now the world-renowned scientist has some new things to say about a potential alien invasion . "If aliens visit us, the outcome could be much like when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans," Professor Hawking told El País . "Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they can reach," he said.

Donald Trump does not want the United States to host Syrian refugees because he said there's a possibility they might be a massive terrorist army in disguise. "They could be ISIS -- I don't know," Trump told a crowd of more than 3,500 at a high school here Wednesday night. Syria has been embroiled in a violent, bloody war for several years that has forced millions of people to flee and seek safety in surrounding countries and in Europe. The United States has recently come under fire for not accepting as many refugees as several other major nations. But Trump...

Bedford, New Hampshire (CNN)Jeb Bush and Donald Trump clashed over how to handle the Syrian refugee crisis -- and just about everything else, including whether Bush is really friends with Marco Rubio -- during dueling Wednesday night town hall events in New Hampshire. By the end of the night, Bush had even told Trump to put on his "big boy pants." In their most substantive policy dispute, the two disagreed sharply over whether refugees who fled the Middle East amid ISIS' rise should be allowed in the United States. "I think we're duty-bound to provide support," Bush said in Bedford.

A friend of mine - via Facebook - is arguing that Trump's wall is a pipedream that won't work because of myriad underground tunnels that are dug so deep they are undetectable by GPR . I Googled but couldn't find any current info to use to refute his claim . Anybody here hip to how Trump's wall COULD work ?

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam. After Muslim terrorist attacks, we’re told that the killers just “misunderstood” their religion. They misunderstood the peaceful nature of Koranic verses such as "Kill them wherever you find them", "They should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides" and "Strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them". But the misunderstandings of Islam are just getting started. Not only are Americans and Europeans being murdered by Muslim terrorists due...

ISIS Terrorist The Obama administration allowed 1,519 terror-stained foreign refugees into the U.S. last year because their crimes were allegedly committed “while under duress.” The administration last year eased federal restrictions against terrorist activity for refugees and asylum seekers. Under the old rules, these 1,519 foreign nationals would have been banned from entering the country because they supported terrorist causes. But under the new rules for vetting refugees, the secretary of Homeland Security has “discretionary authority” to waive certain cases of inadmissibility relating to terrorist activity. A person could have provided shelter or sold a weapon to a terrorist,...

By 2065, Asians will surpass Hispanics as the largest group of new immigrants entering the US. Asians will increase from 26 percent of the immigrant population to 38 percent, and Hispanics will decrease from 47 to 31 percent, according Pew Research Center released a report released Monday. Asians currently account for 6 percent of the total US population, but this will increase to 14 percent by 2065, experts say. Pew study suggests that in the past 50 years since the Immigration and Nationality Act was passed, almost 59 million immigrants have moved to the US, pushing the total foreign-born population...

As if the President Obama’s sweeping amnesty measures haven’t compromised national security enough, the administration let 1,519 “inadmissible” foreigners embroiled in terrorism into the U.S. last year because the crimes were committed “while under duress.” Before the Obama administration tweaked a federal law last year, these foreign nationals would have been banned from the country for supporting terrorist causes. But under the changes the Secretary of Homeland Security has “discretionary authority” to waive certain grounds of inadmissibility relating to terrorism. We’ve seen this discretionary authority abused in the last few years and in fact, the administration has eliminated a zero...

Every American has the right to make his or her voice heard. Sadly, 50 years after the passage of the nation’s most important voting law, the 1965 Voting Rights Act, millions of Americans continue to be silenced at the voting booth because of a deadly one-two punch to our democracy – attacks on voting rights and an explosion of unlimited political spending in our elections.

Kerry’s second wife’s first husband’s trust fund owns mansions in Nantucket, Beacon Hill, Georgetown, Fox Chapel PA and Ketchum (not Ketchup) ID. Together, they are assessed for at least $35 million, and are empty most of the year – perfect locations in which to settle the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, to quote the inscription on the Statue of Liberty. Yet Secretary Kerry refuses to roll out the welcome mat. In fact, Kerry has never been particularly charitable even to his fellow citizens, even before his second marriage, when he was sometimes reduced to sleeping on his ex-brother-in-law’s couch....

Pope Francis says bridges are better than walls when it comes to dealing with conflicts between nations, especially regarding Europe’s migrant crisis. The Pope spent 45 minutes speaking with the international media aboard the American Airlines flight that carried him back to Rome after his historic visit to Cuba and the United States, and answered a series of questions on everything from women’s ordination to religious freedom.
