During the past three seasons, while the National Football League has been changing rules and levying fines in an effort to improve player safety, members of the New Orleans Saints’ defense maintained a lucrative bounty system that paid players for injuring opponents, according to an extensive investigation by the N.F.L. The Vikings' Brett Favre is said to have been a target of player bounties. The bounty system was financed mostly by players — as many as 27 of them — and was administered by the former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who also contributed money to the pool. The N.F.L. said...

Ugh. Let me repeat that. Ugh. Howard Eskin of WIP radio in Philly reports that the Eagles could sign quarterback Brett Favre as a backup to Mike Vick, after Kevin Kolb is shipped out of town. Sources told Eskin, who serves as a sideline reporter for the team’s radio broadcasts, that it’s “possible” the Eagles will sign Favre. The move would reunite Favre with Andy Reid, who was an assistant with the Packers before becoming a head coach in 1999.

Quarterback Brett Favre may return to the NFL for the 2011 season, according to Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, but not with the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings seem intent on choosing a quarterback in this year’s draft and possibly adding a veteran like the Washington Redskins Donovan McNabb as a bridge until he’s ready. If it happens, it wouldn’t come as a surprise. We’ve all seen this movie before. There are, however, a couple interesting angles here. Favre was quick to file his retirement papers with the league after the 2010 season, something he didn’t do the...

On the same day legendary NFL quarterback Brett Favre announced his retirement, two former Jets masseuses sued him for sexual harassment. According to the suit, masseuse Christina Scavo was introduced to the Jets by colleague Shannon O’Toole. Organizer Lisa Ripi oversaw the therapists, who were all young and attractive.

Today's Vikings vs. Packers game will probably not be the last NFL game Brett Favre(notes) plays. It should be, though, because at this point, Favre can't do anything for the Vikings franchise other than continue to pilot their dizzying plunge into a foul pit of football sewage. The Vikings played their fiercest rival today in a game they had to win to keep alive their dim playoff hopes. Not only did they lose; they were destroyed. Embarrassed. Torn apart. The contrast between the beaten-down, ineffective Favre and the energetic, playmaking Aaron Rodgers(notes) could not have been more stark. The legend...

It is big news everywhere. Did Brett Favre really hit on the hot news woman? Did he send things he should not have sent? Will the NFL investigation result in suspension? Here is a tasteful YouTube song about the event. BRETT FAVRE THROWS UNWANTED PASS

There is much smack talk on the internet today, primarily by what appear to be pimple-faced Cheeto-munching-types who most likely never held a football let alone dared to imagine what it might be like to breath the same rarified air that fills the lungs of an NFL Quarterback the likes of Brett Farve. If the internet has done one thing it is to have spawned an endless army of wannabe athlete arm-chair quarterbacks and no-nothing experts on every sport imaginable or athlete imaginable. Their current targer: Brett Farve.

I'm about to tuck into a large slice of humble pie. Back in September, I had genuine concerns about Brett Favre's second comeback in as many seasons and wrote about them here. I did not believe Favre would be the final piece in the Minnesota Vikings' jigsaw. I had no doubt the future Hall of Famer could still throw a pretty pass and lead a team with some devastating strikes downfield. I just could not see a 40-year-old quarterback - who had admitted he got tired throwing to college kids over the summer - being in peak physical condition at...

But Manning doesn't do more with less. I am so incredibly exasperated with this fallacy. He's on the same team he's been on for the last decade, and while Dungy left, Manning still has complete control of his offense and gets to pass it as much as he likes, while Favre has to battle a control freak coach who doesn't like the QB recognizing coverage patterns and calling audibles. The most important stat with quarterbacks is actually pass protection. How potent the running game is is meaningless; pass protection is what's important. Favre has three times as many sacks yet...

Those who adore Brett Favre(notes) with every fiber of their being (i.e., every football broadcaster who has ever lived) and those who like him to go the heck back to Mississippi and leave us alone after this season (i.e., everyone who would like to see NFL Network talk about anything else for once) would agree on one thing: Be it age or any other factor, there were concerns about Favre dropping off at the end of the season as he did with the Jets last year. Starting in Week 13 of 2008 season, Favre didn't have a single-game quarterback rating...

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Brett Favre and Brad Childress enjoyed quite the honeymoon in their first three months together in Minnesota. The coach coaxed the quarterback out of retirement to play for the Vikings, picking up the 40-year-old from the airport and personally chauffeuring him to team headquarters to sign a contract in August.

Cleveland—Despite Adrian Peterson’s 285 yards rushing in the Minnesota Viking’s win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, September 13, 2009, many complaints have now surfaced from Cleveland defenders that were tripping over Brett Favre’s walker. Even Adrian Peterson had some issues after tripping over it himself several times in the first half of Sunday’s game. “I know Favre’s an ageless quarterback,” claimed Peterson, “but the walker has got to go. It’s holding me back. Every time he drops back to hand the ball off, I trip over the damn thing.” Currently, the Browns are petitioning the league to have the...

Football season is right around the corner, and two big stories have dominated the run-up to it: The return of Brett Favre and Michael Vick.

Vick, of course, is returning to football after serving a prison sentence for a dog-fighting conviction. Favre is an aging legend destined for the Hall of Fame, so his coming out of retirement (again) would be notable under any circumstances. But his return this year is especially noteworthy because of the team he has chosen to play for. The Minnesota Vikings, of course, are the dreaded and hated arch-enemies of his old team, the Green Bay Packers.

Here is video of a David Letterman "Top Ten Reasons Why Brett Favre Came Out of Retirement." This, of course, has to do with the decision of Brett Favre to sign with the Minnesota Vikings, after retiring from football - how many times? Favre's continuing saga has become something of a soap opera, and makes you long for the days when a Quarterback wanted to go out at the top of his game, like Roger Staubach did in 1979, and would have never considered playing for the archrival of the team he spent almost his entire career with - just...

Championships. Money. Fame. Competition. Those are the things that drive most quarterbacks. Not Brett Favre though; he's more interested in revenge. According to a New York Daily News column by Gary Myers, a(nother) Favre return to the NFL would be motivated by his desire to get revenge on the Packers, the team that kicked him to the curb last spring in favor of Aaron Rodgers.

This week Jets quarterback Brett Favre caused a significant stir in The Big D when he curiously pushed Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo into playing this week, or at least giving it a shot with a broken pinkie. Favre reportedly talked Romo into sucking it up to play, and rather than missing Sunday's game, he was listed as the No. 2 behind Brad Johnson. It turns out the Cowboys aren't the only team this year the New York Jets signal caller has spent time talking to. Several sources have told FOX Sports that Favre earlier this year phoned the Detroit Lions...

The Brett Favre era in Green Bay is now officially over. But his legendary career is not. The month-long saga has finally come to an end, with the Packers agreeing to trade their future Hall-of-Fame quarterback to the New York Jets, FOXSports.com first reported Wednesday night. "We're going to take this one year at a time," Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum said on a conference call early Thursday morning. "We're excited to have Brett on the team this year."
