Leigh Brown is a Charlotte, N.C., area RE/MAX franchisee who calls herself the “no BS realtor,” and she more than lives up to that tagline on Twitter. This week, Brown was targeted by the Stop Rush bully brigade after her business was entered into their database of Rush Limbaugh sponsors. Behold the Twitter thuggery:

It Makes Sense Blog October 7, 2012. Vicksburg. The federal government calls them FEMA Corps. But they conjure up memories of the Hitler Youth of 1930’s Germany. Regardless of their name, the Dept of Homeland Security has just graduated its first class of 231 Homeland Youth. Kids, aged 18-24 and recruited from the President’s AmeriCorp volunteers, they represent the first wave of DHS’s youth corps, designed specifically to create a full time, paid, standing army of FEMA Youth across the country. On September 13, 2012, the Department of Homeland Security graduated its first class of FEMA Corps first-responders. While the...

The Golden State has reached a poverty rate that is now twice as bad as West Virginia’s and substantially worse than the rates of poverty in Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and Texas, according to a new measure of poverty developed by the federal Census Bureau. Democrat-run California earned its last-place rank under the federal government’s new measure of poverty, which incorporates more detailed analyses of welfare payments and the local costs of food, gasoline and housing California snatched the last-place prize from Mississippi, which had the highest poverty rate under the older and simpler measure, which gauged people’s ability to buy...

I am not writing this letter to accuse but rather to advance understanding. And even though I am white, I am not writing as an outsider but as a fellow evangelical, part of the same spiritual family. May I pose some candid questions? Are you guilty, on any level, of blind allegiance to the Democratic party? And, on Election Day, did any of you compromise your convictions out of racial solidarity? I have been very open in my criticism of white evangelicals, pointing out how we often put our trust in the Republican party and how we look to the...

Calif. Gov. Brown: DOJ, Obama should 'respect' state marijuana lawsBy Zack Colman - 11/11/12 10:12 AM ET California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) said the federal government should let recently passed marijuana legalization laws stand in Colorado and Washington. “It’s time for the Justice Department to recognize the sovereignty of the states,” Brown said Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union. “I believe the president and the Department of Justice ought to respect the will of these states.” Colorado and Washington legalized marijuana for recreational use through ballot measures last week. But marijuana is still outlawed at the federal level, which...
  • UMass Lowell/Herald poll: Senate race deadlocked (Brown leads this poll 49-48% among LV)

The bruising Massachusetts Senate battle between Republican Scott Brown and Democrat Elizabeth Warren is deadlocked just hours before Election Day, with both the candidates and the voters suffering from a barrage of attack ads, a new UMass Lowell/Boston Herald poll reveals. The poll shows Brown holding a 49-48 percent advantage over Warren among likely voters, dispelling earlier polls and Democratic claims of a small Warren lead. The one-point lead is well within the poll’s 4.1 percent margin of error.

Now, let’s look at the facts here. Five former and one current Mayor assembled for a rally for Elizabeth Warren in Worcester, Massachusetts. Since no one else showed up to attend the rally, there were more Mayors there than regular people. Almost everyone in attendance was a Mayor. When I used to do event planning for a living I used to have nightmares about things like this: planning an event for months, working hard to bring everything under budget, inviting scores of people…and no one would show up. That never happened to me, THANK GOODNESS…but I would seriously wake up...

I’m now beginning to think that the Boston Globe poll released on Monday was probably an outlier: A new poll released today shows Elizabeth Warren leading Senator Scott Brown by 7 percentage points, one of the Democratic challenger’s largest leads in any poll taken in recent months. The poll, by Suffolk University/News 7, was released a day after a Boston Globe poll showed a much tighter race, with Brown leading by 2 percentage points. The Globe poll showed an exact tie when including responses from voters who did not express an initial preference but said they were leaning in one...

Republican incumbent Scott Brown and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren both postponed campaigning Monday. Brown and Warren then announced they are pulling out of Tuesday's final debate. A Brown spokesman said the Republican incumbent decided against the debate "out of concern for the hardship faced by people in the path of Hurricane Sandy." Just last week, Brown pledged to attend the debate and even offered Warren a ride to the venue in his truck.

  • Sen. Scott Brown: It doesn’t matter if Republicans win back the Senate

"For me it doesn't really matter who's in charge," says the junior senator, who adds the real problem is the dwindling number of moderate Democrats and Republicans in the Senate. "You still need to get to 60 votes," says Brown. "I'm tired of the gridlock. It makes me just so disgusted to walk in there and see, you know, the usual spotting on votes on both sides." Brown says if Republicans gain control of the Senate, Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the current minority leader, will still have to "earn my vote."

Seen here first, this ad, produced by the advocacy group Checks and Balances for Economic Growth, was funded with what a spokesperson called “a significant statewide buy in Ohio.” The ad calls out incumbent Ohio Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown for his claim that there was no “War on Coal.” Brown made this statement during an Oct. 15 debate with his GOP challenger Ohio State Treasurer Josh Mandel.

When you’re America’s most liberal senator locked in a tight race with a conservative challenger, it’s always a good thing when a damning YouTube that shows you praising organized crime disappears. Hard-left Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) appears in a 2008 video praising the gangster group known by the acronym ACORN. In the video dated May 12, 2008, called “ACORN Grassroots Democracy Campaign,” Brown praises the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now to the heavens: I’ve met with ACORN lots of times in Ohio. They’re a terrific grassroots organization that is working to connect politics with working families and low-income...

An Elizabeth Warren supporter is living out a Democratic nightmare right now as an unwitting prop for Republican Sen. Scott Brown’s campaign. Carol Gorman of Foxboro, a loyal Democrat, turned on her TV this week and was stunned to see herself shaking Brown’s hand and smiling in an ad where the GOP incumbent defends his record on women’s issues. Oh, the horror.
  • Elizabeth Warren raises $4.6 million more than Scott Brown in latest fundraising quarter

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren raised over $4 million more than Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown in the fundraising quarter that ended Sept. 30, according to numbers announced Monday by both campaigns. Warren’s campaign said the Harvard Law School professor raised $12.1 million between July and September. Brown’s campaign said the sitting senator raised $7.45 million. Throughout the campaign, Warren has consistently raised more money each quarter than Brown, in a race that is the most expensive Senate election in Massachusetts history and is on track to be the most expensive Senate race in the country this year. Counting...

The new documentary Hellbound? has reignited discussion about the perennial topic of hell as well as revealed some very bizarre perspectives. Kevin Miller, the film’s director, who identifies as a Christian, stated in an interview that, regarding the traditional view of hell as a place of fiery torment, “I don’t see anything in the Bible that would lead me to believe that such a place exists.” Instead, according to Miller, when Jesus talked about hell, he was talking about the here and now. Really? Jesus didn’t warn about a place of judgment to come? And Director Miller gets his denial...
