I just read (another) article about a dead child, killed while playing in front of their home in Chicago. It got me to thinking ... What if we (I can't because I'm in Switzerland) were to show up at the various "protests" with our own "Black Lives Matter" signs - each of which were to contain a picture of one of these innocent children and the caption about their death. Something like Black Lives Matter [picture] Natalia, age 7, shot in the head by .... We could also encourage athletes to "take a knee" while holding such photos. Maybe extend...

President Trump's Executive Order is illegal, embarrassing, and won't keep us safe. It's pure politics. My staff & I are closely monitoring the situation at LAX, and I urge the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection to follow injunction to stop unconstitutional travel ban.

My fellow Americans;Four years ago, on this day in 2008, Bear Stearns stood on the edge of collapse. We did not know this, of course, as other than their two hedge funds' failure their internal condition was hidden -- by the company and by the regulators who were charged with keeping our financial system safe.Over the next six months we came close to losing America.Today, we're not in much better shape. We have failed to address the first, and only, reason we find ourselves mired in an economic situation where we cannot grow and we cannot prosper. Where The Senate has...

Several years ago, in what seems to be a previous life, I worked for a subsidiary of TWA at Frankfurt Internation Airport in Germany. This was during the Balkan War timeframe and just a few short years after the Lockerbie Attack. This subsidiary provided Security Screening services to TWA as well as to United Airlines. Some of you may recall a time when, in front of every checkin counter, some person was stationed and asked a bunch of "dumb" questions (i.e. Did you pack these bags yourself?) - that was my a part of my job. The OTHER part of...

In recent days, David Letterman has repeatedly made comments about a juvenile private citizen (Willow Palin) on his nationally broadcast television show. These comments were made with the full knowledge that Miss Palin herself, as well as her freinds and schoolmates, would hear them and were calculated to cause the utmost in emotional distress on the part of Miss Palin. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS ?? Nancy Pelosi is now a Saint.... On a Saturday afternoon, in Washi ngton, D. C., an aide to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited the Cardinal of the Catholic cathedral. He told the Cardinal that Nancy Pelosi would be attending the next day’s sermon, and he asked if the Cardinal would kindly point out Pelosi to the congregation and say a few words that would include calling Pelosi a saint. The Cardinal replied, “No. I don’t really like the woman, and there are issues of conflict with the Catholic Church over certain of Pelosi’s views.” Pelosi’s...

Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, the top Republican on the budget committee, said Thursday he would have voted against the 90 percent tax increase if he had known that legal scholars would deem it unconstitutional. "Now, that I know — which I didn't at the time — that this is unconstitutional, I wouldn't have voted the same way," Ryan said during a taping of C-SPAN's "Newsmakers" on Thursday — the show is set to air on Sunday. POLITICO was one of the participants in the Ryan interview.

*snip* OUR PROPOSAL:curbs spending • Limits the Federal Budget from Growing Faster than Family Budgets Instead of spending money on wasteful programs under the guise of “stimulus” and “investments,” Republicans seek to ensure that the federal budget cannot grow faster than families’ ability to pay the bill. • Provides Universal Access to Health Care and Secures Entitlements Instead of accelerating the demise of our nation’s large entitlement programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid, and creating new unsustainable entitlements, Republicans seek to provide universal access to affordable health care and to address our entitlements’ trillion dollar unfunded liabilities with common-sense reforms...

The fine print in the stimulus bill authorizing the AIG bonuses, which was rushed through the U.S. Congress at lightning speed, has led to a renewed call for politicians to read legislation before they vote on it.

Dear President Obama, Thank you for helping my neighbors with their mortgage payments. You know the ones down the street who in the good times purchased their house for no money down, refinanced it several times, then bought SUV's, ATV's, RV’s, a pool, a big screen plasma TV, two Wave Runners, a boat, and a Harley. I was wondering, since I am paying my mortgage and theirs, could you arrange for me to borrow the Harley now and then? Signed: "Concerned in USA " P. S. They also need help with their credit cards, when do you want me to...

In 1934, the Swiss Federal Parliament explicitly introduced the notion of bank secrecy for the first time in a section of the law and created criminal sanctions. Why was this law created? The first and most common explanation is the one taken up by the Swiss Bankers Association, which considers the event to be a political act by the Federal Parliament to demonstrate its independence and its neutrality in the face of the threatening power of Nazi Germany. In the wake of the 1931 financial crisis, the Weimar Republic introduced strict foreign exchange controls. Many cases of economic espionage led...
