  • Gore at climate talks: Polar ice may go in 5 years

I live north of Edmonton Alberta Canada...as I sit here the outside temp is -42C bare skin will freeze in 4 mins...there are no living animals moving around they are all hunkered down somewhere. There is ice on the lakes 4ft thick...the air is so cold it is turning into ice fog.

I want Gore to come here and explain to us Albertans where the global warming is...who stole it? For our part we would love to have a spell of global warming that would raise our temps anyplace over the freezing mark.

I want global warning...I would be delighted to see palm trees growing in Alberta!!

That is a staggering figure mate...I live in Edmonton Alberta and there is a big worry about the fact that we have had 32 homicides this year. The police chief is saying we don’t have enough police foot patrols.

My guess is that by coming to her book signing the military men will show how they feel and who they respect without a word or a photo being done.

Other than throwing Palin off the base entirely there is no way the high muckymucks can stop what will happen...the military men and women will speak with their feet!

Glad that you found that book Stoat.. there is some very interesting information in it... if you are a history buff like me. For instance most people think that wartime rationing ended as soon as the war ended in 1945...fact is that we still had rationing of clothes and some foodstuffs right up until 1952.

I distinctly remember when I joined the RAF in 1948 I was issued with a clothing book of coupons which allowed me to buy a small amount of clothing.

Of course this was only the essentials that were affected...housing was another thing entirely...basically there wasn’t a house to be bought even if you could afford it...guys returning from the war found out that they and their families were having to live in Quonset huts ..the kind they had just left in the forces.

Some thinking persons decided to build prefabs out of concrete with the utilities pre placed into them...these were only meant as a stopgap bt there are a lot of them still in use to this day. The book also talks about how the Labour factions and the do gooders managed to destroy the British way of life and lead us to the mess we are in today.

It is quite sad reading really.

I used to have a very interesting book that I brought to Canada with me from the UK. It is called “Now the war is Over.” In the various house moves we have made over the last 33yrs it has got lost. But it talked about how the UK fared from 1945 until about 1956 and in it you could see the way the country was going.

Almost all of the damage that has been done to the UK has been done by Labour and Socialist parties ...Nationalisation, the shutting down of National Service...the opening of the gates to the entry of anyone who could breath irrispective of what they could offer the country...all done to the greater glory of Political correctness..with no thought of the terrible effect that it would have on the country.

I remember walking down a street in Birmingham and on the other side of the road about 20 immigrants were sprawled across the sidewalk...forcing white folks to get into the road to get around them. I thought at the time that this was the way things were going in my country...and I didn’t want to have any part in it.

Maybe I should have stayed in the UK and tried to fight all this but the odds were heavily against any white Brit winning that one. So I came to Canada and never regretted it!!

I remember reading in the local paper how a ceiling had collapsed in one of the big houses that used to be owned by wealthy people who had left the area...the house was bought by Cypriots who then rented it out to other immigrants for as much as they could wring out of them.

The ceiling came down because 10 people were living in the attic...they had bedclothes up there and men would go to work in the morning and nightshift workers would come back and sleep in the same beds during the day.

They then would turn around and buy the houses next to them finally taking over the entire district because no white person would live next to them and suffer the insults and threats that came their way all too often.

I used to love my old country...it was a green and pleasant land...now it is an ugly gaping wound on the face of the earth. Sure tour operators will take visitors around the famous historical places...but they never take you to see Bradford which is the capital of Pakistan...they never take you to see the council slums that house multitudes of mostly the layabouts of the earth...they never explain how these people are living on the backs of the workers who give them welfare money every month so that they can be spit upon as they pass by...you will never see this because it is not politically correct.

Pardon me...I am getting mad just thinking about it! Well I hope that Brown and his forbears are happy now...they took something beautiful and turned it into a running sore!

Maybe I will Tex...here is a story that has a conundrum with it...for 18 months I flew in Shackletons over the Eastern Med...our job was to find the rusty old hulks the Jews were trying to get to Palestine on and call up a Royal Navy frigate to turn them back to the internment camps in Cyprus.

One day we found one about 60 miles out from land...as we flew over it at about 500ft we saw that it was crammed to the gunwales with men women and children. As we came around for the second pass the people got out a white sheet with one word painted on it...”PLEASE”...we stood off a ways and our skipper asked us what we should do! He usually never asked a question like this.

We all said lets go back to our base because none of the crew had seen a thing. If we had been caught doing this we would all have been court martialed...but I really didn’t care...I sat on my Nav seat and the tears streamed down my face all the way back to the base in Malta.

Some things seem worth any risk...I couldn’t have lived with myself if I had been a part of destroying the hopes and dreams of those people...I was 19yrs old at the time...what would you have done????

You are very welcome...however if I told you everything there would be no room left for others. I remember once volunteering to talk to a grade 12 class about WW2 but the teacher said she didn’t think the students would be very interested...I guess she was right...old men should keep their thoughts and memories to themselves.

I would just like to put in a good word for the millions of civilians who suffered their way through WW2. I was just turned 10 when the bombing raids started over my city...my dad was an old WW1 vet who was wounded at Hill 60...he knew what to do right away and he and I started digging an air raid shelter in our back garden...at this time the war had not yet been declared but on Sept 2nd 1939 we had nearly completed our bomb shelter as we listened on the radio to the news that war had been declared against Germany.

Later on we got an Anderson shelter that was stronger than our home made one...every night for 18 months we took our bedclothes down the garden and four of us tried to sleep in that 6ft by 8ft space. We had struck a spring when we dug the hole and the shelter was never really dry after that. In the morning we would trudge back to the house soaking wet and try to dry out before we went to school.

As I walked to school with mates we would pass houses that were still burning from the previous nights raids...at school there was many empty desks. When the Germans started bombing in daylight...we often had to leave the classrooms and go into the brick shelters. These things used to scare me to death because they had brick walls and a 12” thick solid concrete roof...in a lot of places the walls would collapse and drop this concrete slab onto the heads of the people below crushing them all.

All of the older men including my dad joined the ARP mostly working to put out the incendiary bombs that were dropped in the thousands. It was possible to scoop them into a bucket and then pour sand over them and this worked for a while...but then the Germans started to put delayed explosives in them and the result was many an ARP man including my dad were killed in the blasts.

One thing that lives for ever in my memory is the sight of a whole row of tenement houses lying flat the way they fell when an aerial torpedo landed at one end and dropped all 30 houses to the ground like dominos. When this happened most of the women were at home preparing dinner for their families...nearly all of them died standing at the stove.

WW2 made me hardened to death and disaster however I have never got over my fear of confined spaces and I still go cold with fear when a siren sounds. But one thing that I learned is that the human spirit struggles on through all kinds of adversity...and our spirit is no different whatever happens in the future we humans will survive because that is the way we are built.

I know the direction we Canadians are going...ALL of our troops will be out of there in 2011... leaving a few government people with the impossible job of helping to train the Afghans to look after their own bloody country.

After 8 years and over a hundred of our lads killed to say nothing of the many who are maimed for life..we are going to give the Afghans a “do it yourself kit.”

I spent 8 years in Germany during the Cold War...I met a lot of ex Wehrmacht men..they are excellent soldiers but they lost the war if I remember rightly!

True...they had to fight rearguard actions from Stalingrad to Berlin and Normandy to the Elbe..but I doubt any other army would have fought so desperately without cracking up much earlier.

I would also like to mention that the Americans were not fighting alone...there were two or three other allied soldiers involved...I especially remember one of them.. my best friend Barry Seale.. who was killed crossing the Rhine.

When it comes to the Afghans...whatever moonbat thought that Americans or any other nation could casually drop in there and settle things.. with or without armies.. deserve to have several large history books inserted into their tenderest body parts.

The Afghans have been fighting somebody or each other for hundreds of years..it is a required family sport in most parts of the country...much as Americans play football. They won’t quit to stop and listen to Mr Wonderful Obama blathering away!

The funniest thing that I heard today was your Vice Presi’s brilliantly conceived plan to stop fighting the Taliban and move forces to the Pakistani border to only fight el Qaida.
What is his name..Biden? Jesus H some mothers do have em!!!

That should put a stop to attacks on the Allied forces by the Taliban...all our guys have to do now is hand out visiting cards to any force that attacks them enquiring if they are Taliban or terrorists.

Monty Python himself could not have written that script!!

If you can get to see a picture of the English Parliament..you will notice that the aisle between the opposition parties is set to a definite size.

It is actually slightly over two sword lengths apart.. obviously this was to prevent members skewering each other during heated debates.

If I remember rightly the guy shouting LIAR was well over a swords length away from the Leader..so really shouldn’t need to be apologising!

I should maybe just mention that the reporter is a Brit working for the Times and the reason they went in to save his miserable skin.. was because the Brits have sworn to act against any kidnappings of their own people.

I don’t know this idiot but he should be down on his knees thanking the brave men who risked their lives that he might live. Like the recent border crossings into N Korea by those two stupid women..my thinking is to leave them there to stew in their own juices.

As regards to the war going on in that god forsaken country...they have been fighting there since time began..one of my distant relatives won a VC for rescuing the Officers baggage train in a British retreat from the Pathans around the Khyber Pass area. This was way back before Pontius was a pilot.

There is no way to win this stupid war or to unite the country..they don’t want to be united..fighting is a way of life for them. Trying to give them democracy or freedom as we know it.. is a total waste of time and human lives. As soon as we leave the place the war lords will commence fighting again and the situation will be back to square one.

About 130 Canadian young men have been sacrificed out there so far and I know that the Brits/Americans have lost a lot more..for what? We are no closer now than when the Russians tried to take over the country.

It is amazing to me that senile politicians who have trouble putting their underpants on.. cannot see that a determined small ragtag force will always beat a large army when conditions are right.

    1) A rugged terrain. 2) A plentiful supply of ammunition. 3) A fanatical following. 4) A group of opposition leaders who have no idea what they are getting into (and don’t really care as long as it looks good to the rest of the world.)

Get out of there NOW..the people will sort their own problems out in the end..just as all countries have to.

I was living in the Midlands of Britain the whole time of WWII...just a young kid who knew little of what was going on. I am not proud of having had to go down the shelters every night for two years..nor of having almost nothing to eat for weeks on end..nor of watching my mom crying her eyes out when my dad was killed fighting the incendiary fires.

War is not something to be proud of..it is dirty, disgusting, heart wrenching and foul. I am happy for all the Americans who have never seen it face to face..and I hope you never have to cringe and die inside every time you hear the sirens going.

Even now after all these decades I still miss a heart beat when I hear that siren noise..when I tried to watch the movie about British kids during the war..I couldn’t do it I just sat there with tears rolling down my face watching the kids boarding the trains taking them away from the bombs.

Be happy you have not seen the face of war..you missed nothing!

I have long held the view that we are looking in the wrong direction to jail creeps like these.

Way up north in the High Arctic we have ready made jails that would not need any armed guards to hold the vermin inside. Hundreds of miles of frozen wasteland is there for the taking...no barbed wire or electrified fences needed. Open a prison colony up there and nobody is going to get loose unless... they have a death wish.

They would be cheap to operate only requiring food drops every month or so..along with fuel oil for heating...(although this could be rationed.)

The only downside is the fact that there are innocent wild creatures living up there which would be at risk from the stinking animals we sent to serve their jail time in the permafrost.

The upside is that instead of paying $100,000 per year to keep the mentals in the luxury they require.. we could spend a few dollars on canned beans and stew dropped for them to fight over.

I suggested this to my Fed Rep a couple of years ago but never heard back...I guess he wrote me off as “just kidding”..but I wasn’t!!

I am 80 years old and have no aspirations to become a politician...yet it always strikes me as very weird how many grey haired old drooling fools are still hanging onto any power they may still have.

An age limit for any politician should be 50 years old..after that they get sent out to pasture. Anyone showing any grey hair that has not been touched up should be fired immediately.

People who change parties to chase the electorate (like Spector) should be barred from any sort of future public office..except Winston Churchill of course.

Politicians who vote against the wishes of their constituents should forfeit all votes they got in the last election and fired. Any vote against the Constitution should be treated as treason.

Very major bills such as the current HCB should be taken to a countrywide vote. Any party convicted of voter fraud should be prevented from every running again...in any capacity.

What exactly do you want from the 34 million mostly respectful and law abiding citizens on your northen borders?

We stand by your armed forces as much as we can..we watch your dire and dopey Hollywood garbage to keep your mentally deficient actors in employment. We come down there and spend our holiday money on your often feeble offerings! We don’t try and take over your country by working there without your permission. You should be going down on your boney knees every night to thank God we are not Shiites or radical moslems.
