There have been a lot of factual errors in the chaotic rush to get details about today’s shooting in Connecticut. But one fact that seemed established across the board was that victim Nancy Lanza, the mother of alleged shooter Adam Lanza, was a teacher at the Sandy Hook Elementary School — specifically that it was her class that Adam Lanza massacred. Nancy Lanza legally bought and owned the guns used in the Connecticut school shooting on Friday afternoon, according to NBC News. --- This finding makes sense considering Adam Lanza was not old enough to legally own a gun in his home state. NBC News reports that Connecticut residents must be 21 or older to purchase or carry a handgun. Adam Lanza, meanwhile, was just 20 years old.  However, rifle owners in the state are not required to register their weapons.

The father of David Petraeus' mistress Paula Broadwell has defended his daughter today as an 'exceptional person', saying he supports her 100 per cent after details of her sordid affair with the decorated general were made public. This is the woman who complained to the FBI about harassing emails from the mistress of Gen David Petraeus. Jill Kelley, 37, of Tampa, Florida, is a State Department military liaison officer who appears to have a longstanding friendship with Petraeus, who quit as CIA director in disgrace last week. The recipient of those emails, fearing for her safety, contacted the FBI - which found that Broadwell had sent them.
