I don’t think there is a legal issue here.

“...the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals rejected the notion that there is anything like a cause of action under the Lanham Act, the statue governing trademark law in the United States, for so-called ‘trademark disparagement.”

I have absolutely no problem with Google rejecting the ad as they legally can. The problem is that they don’t have a pair big enough to say why. To hide behind a fictitious legal claim is weak. I believe they are afraid to tell the world what they really believe.

  • A check on new bishops [Is Current Selection Method Flawed?]

I am by no means a scholar but this is what I see when I look at the big picture as I know it.

"Bishops" in the early Church were selected by a local "college of bishops" or a group of local Church leaders. They didn't have any authority or disciplinary power; they were only the local person responsible for administration and aid in Divine worship. The Church responded to changing times and threats such as the growth of Gnosticism, by taking a larger control over who the local leaders would be. The Church took further control of local leadership in an attempt to reduce the corruption associated with the governments of Europe selecting the local Bishops. The Church has responded to these challenges by lessoning local control. The article's author acknowledges that Rome will select one of three names generated by the local Church, so complete control has not been removed. The author clearly thinks the Church has gone too far in removing local control of who its leaders will be. The Church is decidedly slow to change even when a fast change is required, however it is one of the only institutions that has lasted for multiple centuries. In my opinion these changes have been a natural progression in the development of a worldwide organization that has spread mainly by word of mouth.

Wilson just made an announcement declaring victory. She said the votes in Bernalillo County have all been counted and she is ahead over 1600 votes. The 1600+ margin could not be overcome. The provisional ballots have not been counted but all of those may not be allowed. Currently 4300 provisional ballots are left to be counted. That means Madrid would need 64%+ to overcome the difference.

I don't think he would disagree with me.

And I am fully aware that my three teenage kids may die fighting the war that is coming.

Like I said I do not think America has the stomach to fight the coming war

What will be the reaction of the West if the assassins from the Middle East assassinate the Pope?

The media would feign shock and outrage for a day then move on to how it is Bush's fault or how horrible the economy is...you know standard Democrat talking points.

A part of me wants the jihadist to attempt it or maybe succeed (don't read anything in that). It is just that maybe it will be a wake up call to Europe and the silent majority in America. I do not think America and the West have the stomach to fight a threat as large as the islamofacists and it may cost me my teenage kids lives but I believe it is a fight that is coming, whether we address it now or later. I am encouraged by the comment of the Lutheran lady being outraged. Maybe we would wake up to what a real threat these folks are. I wish Benedict would have explained his speech and left it at that without multiple apologies. I think he is succeeding in exposing the hypocrisy of the "Religion of Peace". If it takes his dying to open eyes and return millions of people to a life with Christ then so be it.

yeah it counts against the batter. The scorekeeper can't assume a sacrifice (sac). What if the batter hits what could be an RBI fly ball and the runner at 3rd doesn't go, or trips and falls and doesn't score or leaves early and gets out on appeal...then no sacrifice and its just an out (or error if it was dropped). The RBI fly ball doesn't count agaianst the batter as it is viewed that the batter sacrificed his at bat to score a run. The RBI fly ball is a sac fly only if the runner scores. An RBI fly ball is only a sac if the fielder catches it. If the center fielder misreads the ball and runs away from catching the easy fly ball then it is a hit. They have tried to take away judgment calls and make scoring quick to note without having to go back and make changes based on what happens after the play. It isn't always fair but it is a team game. These kinds of situations make hit streaks and on base streaks that mmuch more special.

The dropped ball in center is an error and counts against the hitter in the batting average category, however it increases his On Base Percentage (OBP)...tough luck, however now he has a chance to score or steal bases which help his stats. Second question. This is a fielders choice and is scored against the batter regardless of what the scorekeeper thinks. Really the only thing left up to the scorekeepers discretion is the difference between hit and an error.

I am a Catholic although not a good Catholic. I have never heard of Opus Dei before. I am torn between seeing the movie and not seeing it. I am interested to see what Mr. Brown has to say. I do not want to support his work, but I probably will as he has made me think and may make me focus on my faith and bring me closer to God. It has succeeded in making me think so maybe its worth the $7.00

The video is somewhat funny in a comedy sense. Taking someone serious and make it look like they are saying ridiculous things. Standard comedy. I think they should keep it up so there is no doubt in anyone's mind what the Anti-American crowd thinks America stands for. Let them hang themselves..the more absurd they are the better. I don't think they are going to convince anybody to convert to their side by putting this out there...They will succeed in giving everyone clues to how wacko they really are. We all know they HATE Bush but let them keep showing everyone that they also hate America.

Some Tom Cruise movie on in NM...I called the station to ask why. The man in the news room said the the FCC told them it was against the law for the station to air the movie. I asked for a copy of that letter. He recanted saying that the FCC had guidelines against airing the show. I responded that it was the local stations lack of a spine that caused them to interpret the FCC guidelines as prohibitive. I then told him how outrageous it was for them to try to make a political statement on Veterans Day. He responded that it wasn't a political statement. I told him that the only way I can show my disapproval was with my remote.. I guess at least they know someone disagrees with them...not much else we can do.

-- Despite the recommendations of a Blue Ribbon panel, the Department of Education refused to soften the rigid Title IX quotas that the Clinton Administration had used to shut down hundreds of male collegiate sports teams.

-- At the Department of State, feminists succeeded in imposing a 20% quota for women in the newly-established legislatures of both Afghanistan and Iraq.

-- The Department of Health and Human Services named Christina Beato to the powerful Assistant Secretary of Health position. An avowed advocate for women’s issues, she blocked the creation of an Office of Men’s Health.

I think your premise is correct. Bush targeted white males and married females...Kerry didn't. The question is would these items have made a difference in the way Bush was perceived. How many of the people that voted for Bush knew about these items mentioned in your post....possibly more than I know, because I am a white male NASCAR fan and my wife and I are soccer parents maybe I am out of that loop. I don't think males in general believe that they have to have something just because women have it. The quotas for women in gov't in Iraq and Afghanistan is a non issue (I think). Title IX hasn't been discussed (in large circles) in 4 years so I don't think that got people revved up.

Speaking as a divorced father with primary custody I know that granting custody to the mother because she is female really gets my blood moving...but thats not why I voted for Bush.

I think Republicans stand for working FAMILIES that are tired of paying for people permanently on the welfare roles. Republicans stand for real people and their values not the Hollywood phony baloney, millionaires that work 20 weeks a year and try to tell you how to live your life. I don't care what gay people do...(but let us let the MSM think we do so they won't figure it out and key in the Dumocrats). I voted for Bush because he said the things I believe in...Winning the War, letting me keep more of the money I earned, reforming Social Security so it is there when I retire, tort reform so my neighbors don't look to get rich because they are too stupid to know that coffee is hot.

Sorry for the ranting tangent...I agree with your point, but I am unsure of the importance of what we gave up to get there.

13 of 33 counties still have absentee ballots to be counted. Of those 9 are Republican and 4 are Dumocrat. 2 of the (R) counties are big Republican strong holds. The only (D) county of any size not reporting is Dona Ana (Las Cruces) and it is currently Bush by less than 1%

The Navajo people have begun to open their eyes. Many that I have spoken to say that the core Navajo beliefs are very conservative. Change is slow, however it is beginning to happen. Socially they see the Dum's not representing their moral values.

How about moving to NW New Mexico, it is a very conservative area in a swing state...you could help shift the balance...beautiful weather and a ton of outdoor activities for all seasons.
