Charlie Crist has taking to calling himself a McCain-Republican in his Florida race against Marco Rubio of late. Apparently, he sees a similarity between himself and Scott Brown. I'll have to admit, calling ones self a McCain-Republican sounds better than simply calling yourself a RINO.

This is a singular question that could be asked of any politician. It really makes no political sense for a popular politician who has ambitions for higher public office to endorse anyone during a primary. The reason being, no matter who you endorse, you are going to lose support from the opposing side.

I now believe Sarah Palin's Facebook announcement that she would stump for McCain in the Arizona primary was an attempt to scare off JD Hayworth from entering the race against McCain.
-
"Palin told Facebook followers that she’s going to 'ride the tide with commonsense candidates' and help 'heroes and statesmen' like McCain." The message McCain is now bringing forth to his cohorts in the Republican Party leadership with the Brown victory in Massachusetts is, "See, I told you so. Moderate Republicanism can win. All we need do to totally usurp those conservative wackos in the Tea Party movement is tell them our candidate is a "conservative" and they will do the rest -- oh, and make sure other grassroot conservatives who get in our way in the primaries are out spent...

"The Tea Party Nation believes that a federal government must be limited in its powers to only those enumerated by the Constitution of the United States of America."

The message that, apparently, did me in was my response to a poster who had asked me if my real motive in posting at TPN was to fragment the cause. My response is reprinted below:

I have re-posted Don Mashak's Eight-Point Political Platform, while adding two more, 9 & 10. I will be adding an eleventh point soon, which will take away the power of the executive branch of government, or the legislature branch, to print money without the consent of the electorate. There will be an exemption in cases of an emergency, perhaps a two/thirds vote of Congress.

On January 1, 2010, I received an email message from Janet & Norman, members of the American Re-Tea Party, group: "The RIGHT Movement". In short, they want to send a powerful message to the political establishment by sending all 435 incumbent House members -- the good, the bad, and the ugly -- packing in the 2010 elections, as well as all 33 incumbent Senators.

WASHINGTON – The Senate rejected a plan Tuesday to allow Americans to import low-cost prescriptions from abroad, handing drug makers a victory that may help secure passage of President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.
-
At Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Oct. 29th press conference, a CNS News reporter asked, “Madam Speaker, where specifically does the Constitution grant Congress the authority to enact an individual health insurance mandate?”
-
Does the Constitution allow Congress to force you to buy health insurance? Several Congressional leaders have been asked, by CNSNews.com in particular. Their responses ranged from ignorant, to arrogant, to contemptuous.

The chairman of the Senate Banking Committee on Tuesday unveiled a sweeping regulatory reform bill that would strip the Federal Reserve of nearly all of its power to oversee banks, setting up a possible clash with the Obama administration, which has argued for the central bank to play a pivotal role in addressing financial threats.

"The local Republican leadership tapped state Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava to run in the special election. She seemed to them a good fit for the moderate district but was out of step with national Republicans, supporting both abortion rights and same-sex marriage. Nonetheless, she enjoyed the backing of the national party and, among others, former House speaker Newt Gingrich. "

Tea partiers, town-hall protesters, Texas secessionists--for the past few months, grassroots organizing has seemed to be mostly the domain of the right. And for a period this summer, they (okay, not the Texas secessionists, but the others) appeared to be successfully tugging the national debate in their direction. As conservative activists, organized by groups such as FreedomWorks and encouraged by the likes of Glenn Beck, poured into the streets, moderate senators began to waver on health care, President Obama's approval ratings dipped, and momentum for reform seemed to stall.

...And Goodwill to Facebook Friends Mark Zuckerberg has said that if Facebook were its own country, it would be the eighth largest in the world. Facebooklandia, it seems, is destined to be a peaceful one. Peace.Facebook.com has just been launched. The site is for now a placeholder for bigger things to come. But what it does have already is a rather fascinating pedigree. First, the basics, from CNET's Caroline McCarthy: "Facebook is proud to play a part in promoting peace by building technology that helps people better understand each other," the site explains. "By enabling people from diverse backgrounds to...

As Pakistan forces begin to squeeze Taliban forces up against the Afghan border, the Pakistani press wonders where U.S. and U.N. Afghan forces are to block the Afghan border crossings. Now I am not a military expert but it seems to me the attack in Afghanistan a few weeks ago that killed eight Americans, and from which, I beleieve, they abandoned that post afterwards, just might be related.

Poltico's Jonathan Martin reports: "The surging campaign of third-party candidate Chris Daggett has turned the New Jersey governor's race into a dead-heat and left Republicans divided over the seriousness of the threat he poses to GOP nominee Chris Christie." The Hill's Reid Wilson reports: The House GOP conference is bitterly divided over a centrist New York Republican’s run for the House seat vacated by Army Secretary John McHugh. "Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava, who backs abortion rights and has voiced support for gay rights, has drawn a challenger from the right who is running on the Conservative Party line. And though House...

Washington - The American dream means different things to different people. For some, it looks like a house on a leafy cul-de-sac with weekends spent mowing the lawn and planting shrubs. For others it's a rented apartment in the big city with a building engineer to handle such tasks.

I had been discussing the meaning of the phrase "natural-born" U.S. citizen in Al, Sll, C5 of the U.S. Constitution with my learned friend, Loren Collins, when it suddenly occurred to me...
