On the GOTV efforts, they say that they have spent more money on turnout in the past two months than any other election. The RNC’s ability to raise money has given the GOP parity on GOTV and in advertising. Their turnout efforts grow week-on-week, and may be the most underreported aspect of the campaign. The microtargeting, VOIP efforts, and analytical models continues to improve the GOTV efforts. They’ve made 5.3 million targeted calls and doorknocks in the past week, and 1.3 million yesterday, to persuadable voters, and 24 million to date. That’s a major improvement over 2004 and 2006, and...

Bookmaestro and I have managed to recruit few a dozen friends to make hundreds of calls for the McCain campaign. It is actually quite easy to do from your own home and does not require travel to a 'call bank' by going to: www.johnmccain.com/dashboard You can make a hugh =) difference. A short script provided by the campaign (which you can improve on over time) makes this easy. The McCain site provides the numbers to call and you provide the time. At the end of the call you can quickly note how the call went, which will no doubt help...

The positive impact of the GOP convention on polling indicators of Republican strength is further seen in the operation of Gallup's "likely voter" model in this survey. Republicans, who are now much more enthused about the 2008 election than they were prior to the convention, show heightened interest in voting, and thus outscore Democrats in apparent likelihood to vote in November. As a result, Republican candidates now lead Democratic candidates among likely voters by 5 percentage points, 50% to 45%.

This is a vanity for freepers to vote in NYC. Please vote against question one, which would let the dem legislature tax and spend even more. Also Patrick Murphy is in a CLOSE RACE for councilman and I have voted for the Conservative candidate Ognibene, since Bloomie has this in a walk. We need to start somewhere for conservatives to heard.

A NEW book linking autism and infant vaccines could cost the pharmaceutical industry billions of dollars. In Evidence of Harm, US author David Kirby tells the story of parents who claim mercury in vaccines contributed to an "autism epidemic" in America. Already, analysts are predicting the book could trigger a number of lawsuits against the pharmaceutical companies that made the vaccines. As many as 1.5 million Americans have been diagnosed with some form of autism and a conservative estimate puts the cost of lifetime treatment, education and care at $2 million per person. In the UK, campaigners blamed the vaccine...

A Florence man was arrested Wednesday amid allegations he used people’s names and personal information, including that of the mayor of Florence, on more than 1,000 voter registration forms and turned them in to the Florence County Voter Registration Office. Terence Hines, 44, of 603 National Cemetery Road was taken into custody about 5 p.m. on charges of forgery and multiple counts of fraudulent registration or voting, 12th Circuit Solicitor Ed Clements III said. Hines’ arrest was the culmination of a State Law Enforcement Division investigation that began soon after Hines turned in two large boxes containing more than 1,500...

A confidential report from the post-Saddam Hussein Iraqi government alleges that an inspector contracted by the United Nations through a Dutch company was bribed $104,000 to falsify documents in an oil-smuggling scheme that netted the former Iraqi regime $9 million. The alleged bribing of an employee of Saybolt International BV, based in Vlaardingen, is described in a February report by Iraq's State Oil Marketing Organization, or SOMO, which details corruption in the U.N.'s controversial oil-for-food program. Under the program, which operated from 1996 until last year, Iraq was permitted to sell oil under U.N. auspices and use most of the...

There are approximately 30 copies of Unfit For Command at the 86th St Barnes and Noble in Manhattan. Someone had reported on the Midtown store, so I thought I would let you know about this Barnes and Noble. Note that they charged me full price, since it must not be on an official best seller list yet.
