So, tomorrow at 9:00am EDT, the Blue Origin New Sheppard is planned to launch into the West Texas skies, carrying its first human passengers to the edge of space. The question is: will the world's richest man, Jeff Besos, pull off this stunt as fellow billionaire Sir Richard Branson did a few days ago? He's supposed to go higher than Branson did, not to mention that he'll be accompanied by both the world's oldest (82) and youngest (18) people to go into space.

Toothpicks. Tables. Crates. Spoons. Satellites? An ambitious project will send a tiny wooden satellite into orbit later this year to see if it can stand up to the brutal conditions of space. The WISA Woodsat is a 4-inch (10-centimeter) square satellite that's scheduled for a fall launch on a Rocket Lab Electron rocket in New Zealand. Getting to orbit is only part of the adventure. Once there, the team will monitor the little cube to see how its plywood build stands up to cold, heat, radiation and the vacuum of space. Woodsat is the brainchild of Jari Makinen, co-founder of...

COLUMBIA, S.C. —When former vice president Mike Pence reemerged for his first post-White House appearance at a convention center chicken dinner here Thursday night, he did not mention how then-President Donald Trump's supporters marauded through the Capitol on Jan. 6, threatening to hang him. Or that the president attacked him on Twitter for lacking "courage" as the Secret Service rushed him to safety that day. Or the criticism Trump has leveled toward his former No. 2 in recent weeks. In fact, as Pence met privately with about 400 pastors in the cavernous First Baptist Church downtown and traveled across South...

It looks like the Falcon 9 booster on its 6th launch failed to come down on the drone ship "Of Course I Still Love You'. According to the video just seen, the booster performed its re-entry burn successfully. But, after the shutdown, when there should have been no flame visible, there was still flame coming from the booster. The video cut off, as did the telemetry from the booster. The video switched to the video from the drone ship. There was a slight orange glow from off screen, but then nothing.

Is this for real? Some guy calling himself 'ColonelTPerez' on Parler is calling for millions of Patriots to show up in DC on Jan. 19th...armed..."in support of our nation's resolve". Basically, he says we can show up "in numbers that no standing army or police force can match". He then called on Capitol Police who would not or could not stand with them to "take a vacation day".

A friend of mine got this via email yesterday. It reads as follows: "(Friend's Name) we are in possession of all your information (email, address, phone...everything). You are currently registered as a Democrat and we know this because we have gained access to the entire voting infrastructure. You will vote for Trump on Election day or we will come after you. Change your party affiliation Republican so we know you received our message and will comply. We know which candidate you voted for. I would take this seriously if I were you." Okay, a couple things...One, my friend who got...

The XFL is making an unexpected comeback thanks to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The football league attempted a re-launch this year, and it didn't go all that well. The wrestler-turned-actor, who also happens to be a former football player, stepped in to help purchase the league alongside his business partner Dany Garcia and Red Bird Capital. Now, Johnson has revealed that the XFL will return in 2022. The XFL is making an unexpected comeback thanks to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Psalm 64:1–10 (NLT) 1 O God, listen to my complaint. Protect my life from my enemies’ threats. 2 Hide me from the plots of this evil mob, from this gang of wrongdoers. 3 They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their bitter words like arrows. 4 They shoot from ambush at the innocent, attacking suddenly and fearlessly. 5 They encourage each other to do evil and plan how to set their traps in secret. “Who will ever notice?” they ask. 6 As they plot their crimes, they say, “We have devised the perfect plan!” Yes, the human heart and mind are cunning. 7 But God himself...

The XFL will live on, thanks to another WWE legendary figure taking the majority stake in the football league -- but this time it's not Vince McMahon. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, RedBird Capital and Dany Garcia teamed up to purchase the XFL for approximately $15 million just hours before the once-bankrupt league was set for auction. RedBird Capital is an investment firm that focuses on providing flexible and long-term capital to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses, and the XFL will be its latest challenge. Garcia, Johnson's business partner and ex-wife, will also be a stakeholder in the league. The transaction...

SEATTLE — Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan on Tuesday called on City Council President Lorena González to take action against Councilmember Kshama Sawant for a series of recent events that the mayor suggested broke the law and threatened the safety of others. In a scathing two-page letter, Durkan said Sawant was essentially playing political games in order to boost the council member's standing. "Disagreements on policy contribute to a robust public debate," Durkan said. "However, policy disagreements do not justify a Councilmember who potentially uses their position in violation of law or who recklessly undermines the safety of others, all for...

SEATTLE - Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said the public owes a “tremendous amount” to Colin Kaepernick for raising awareness about police brutality and racial oppression by taking a knee during the playing of the national anthem before NFL games a few years ago. “I think there was a moment in time that the young man captured, and (Kaepernick) took a stand on something,” Carroll said on the Flying Coach podcast, a show he hosts with Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. “He figuratively took a knee, but he stood up for something he believed in. What an extraordinary moment...

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The governor of North Carolina said Tuesday that NASCAR can go forward with the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway without fans in attendance at the end of May unless health conditions deteriorate in the state. Gov. Roy Cooper said he and state public health officials have had discussions with NASCAR and the speedway regarding safety protocols for staging the race. Cooper said the state offered input on NASCAR's plan, but he believes the race can go forward on Memorial Day weekend for the 60th consecutive year. “We believe that unless health conditions go down, we...
