In a huge win for gun-rights groups, a federal appeals court in Chicago on Tuesday tossed the state’s ban on carrying concealed weapons and gave Illinois’ Legislature 180 days to craft a law legalizing concealed carry. “The debate is over. Earlier this month, the city of Chicago wrote a check for $399,950 to the Second Amendment Foundation, a gun rights group located in Bellevue, Wash. The check was a reimbursement for legal fees the foundation incurred in the McDonald v. Chicago case, which resulted in the United States Supreme Court overturning the city’s ban on handguns. “The city lost that action,” said Julianne Versnel, the foundation’s director of operations. “

A delegation of gay residents of Tel Aviv has been banned from joining a gay pride march in Madrid because authorities in the Israeli city have not condemned the recent attack on the Gaza flotilla. "After what has happened, and as human rights campaigners, it seemed barbaric to us to have them taking part," explained Antonio Poveda, of Spain's Federation of Lesbians, Gays, Transexuals and Bisexuals. "We don't just defend out own little patch."

Kirk blamed several of the inaccuracies on his attempts to translate "Pentagonese" for voters or on inattention by his campaign

The ISRA is well aware that Chicago Mayor Richard Daley is under a lot of stress these days. Soaring crime, the sinking economy, and thinly-veiled suggestions from Rahm Emanuel that it's time to step aside certainly create a recipe for high anxiety. The toll being taken on the Daley's sensibilities evidenced itself earlier this week when the mayor recommended that the World Court take up his petition to shut down law-abiding U.S. firearm retailers.

PLEASANT GROVE — Scott and Lori Connors' family room looks like it was bombed. There are random holes in the walls, gashes in the fabric of the couch and chair. There's broken glass everywhere and a sheet of plywood where the window used to be. Outside, a shed is in tatters, and there's a boulder-size crater in the lawn. Upstairs, there are pieces of shrapnel imbedded in the bathroom wall. A large mirror has what looks like bullet holes in the glass. It looks like it was bombed — because it was.

On Saturday Oct 2nd Rush Limbaugh made a rare public appearance in Chicago to help celebrate WLS-AM's 80th Anniversary. Rush was the "opening act" and did a 30 minute live talk/speech pretty much summing up that the old media is dead and that we political activists on the conservative side are the new leaders of the media with our ability to communicate instantaneously over the Internet. Rush received a standing ovation and looked and sounded great. The friends that accompanied me were impressed with his ability to make his 30 minute speech with only one break to take a sip...

Meyer died Saturday at his home in the Hollywood Hills, according to his company, RM Films International Inc. Spokeswoman Janice Cowart said Meyer had suffered from dementia and died of complications of pneumonia. Meyer's films were considered pornographic in their time but are less shocking by today's standards, with their focus on violence and large-busted women but little graphic sex.
