I'm seriously considering joining a Christian health care ministry in order to not be backstabbed by Obama's health care TAX next year. The three that I'm aware of are... Samaritan Ministries http://samaritanministries.org Christian Care Ministry’s Medi-Share http://mychristiancare.org/medi-share Christian Healthcare Ministries http://www.chministries.org/ Can any FReepers who have experience with these organizations please share their experience?
  • The Won March (Lyric contest)

The Won March Most of us have heard the tune "Colonel Bogey March," though we are probably most familiar with it as the tune whistled by the POW's in the movie "The Bridge on the River Kwai," and called "The River Kwai March." A variant of the song was famously used mockingly towards Adolph Hitler, titled "Hitler Has Only Got One Ball." I think the Barry-Cades marchers should start mocking "The Won" using this tune. It'll stick in his evil gizzard like a hot nail. I propose a lyrics contest for the tune "The Won March." Here are my two...

FReepers, please indulge me. I just hung up the phone after speaking to my sister who is hospitalized with failing lungs for the second time in a month. She's on the other side of the country from me and I'm unable to comfort her as I wish I could. I asked her if I could pray with her and she cried and said "yes, please!" I pulled out our Dad's WWII Daily Missal and read to her for a while. I'm a firm believer in the power of prayer. Could some of you dear FReepers please say a prayer for...

Please forgive the self-serving vanity post. I'm hoping that there's a FReeper out there who has gone through this before who can give me some tax advice. Yesterday I mailed in my federal and California tax returns. And suddenly this morning at 5am I woke up and realized to my horror that I forgot to sign the federal return. Arg! I signed the state return and forgot to sign the federal. If it's any bearing on things, I had to include a check for about a grand for the feds. (That I signed) :) I've been searching at irs.gov and...
  • Escape from California, FReeper advice sought on Wyoming

I think I've had enough. I live in the most conservative stronghold of California, near FreeRepublic itself, but I've had it. I have long considered where I should take my skills, and Wyoming comes to mind. A very large state with the lowest population in the union. I see that Wyoming (69%R, 28%D) came in 2nd only to Utah (73%R, 25%D). Are there any Wyoming FReepers who can give me the lowdown on the state? All I require to make a living is a decent internet connection. If I were to plan a driving vacation to Wyoming to get a...

Today, July 23rd 2010 is TWO THOUSAND DAYS since "Hanoi" John Kerry promised on national TV to sign Standard Form 180. On Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, during an appearance on the NBC News show “Meet the Press,” moderator Tim Russert asked Sen. Kerry (three times) if he would sign an SF 180 and release all of his military records. On the third attempt Sen. Kerry answered Mr. Russert plainly: MR. RUSSERT: Would you sign Form 180? SEN. KERRY: Yes, I will. Still waiting JohnBoy!

Well, my kid is narrowing down her college choices, and here's the short list. We've still got a year to decide. I'd be very appreciative of any FReepers with personal experience with these schools, if you'd share some of your thoughts. Azusa Pacific University Biola University California State University, Northridge Claremont McKenna College Pepperdine University University of California, Santa Cruz University of Redlands Obviously I've got some opinions formed about these schools already, but I'm not nearly as informed as I'd like to be. I would like to make sure to use as much due diligence as possible in helping...

I've got a family member who's retiring from the USGC after 40 years. Yes, that's a four and a zero. :) Most of it in the reserves. The family is putting together a slideshow for the occasion which will have a musical soundtrack. Since I'm the computer geek.... well, I'm proud to do it. So the thing is, all of the Armed Forces Medleys out there seem to either not contain Semper Paratus, or it's stuck in the middle somewhere. I'm looking for an upbeat Armed Forces Medley that FINISHES with Semper Paratus. I have a huge music collection, with...

The Right/Left Hoax Words are tools of thought. That's why, in George Orwell's "1984", the political goal of IngSoc was to reduce the number of words available, through a process of continuous redefinition and elimination. By reducing the number of words, and eliminating "undesirable" ones, the Party intended to utterly control the thoughts, and therefore the minds, of all its subjects. In a prophetic way, we see this Orwellian "newspeak" going on today. And just one example is the way that political debate is constrained by the use of loaded terms. For example: Are you right wing or left wing?...

RENO, Nev. – A woman has filed a lawsuit accusing Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of raping her last summer in his penthouse hotel room at a casino in Lake Tahoe during a celebrity golf tournament. Roethlisberger's lawyer adamantly denied the allegations Tuesday, and was quick to point out that the woman never went to the authorities. "Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone. The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct," David Cornwell said in a statement. "If an investigation...

CYBERsitter Stolen by Chinese The Peoples Republic of China's mandated Green Dam Internet filtering software contains significant portions of CYBERsitter! About three weeks ago we discovered that a Chinese software program called Green Dam - Youth Escort contains pirated code and data from CYBERsitter. Green Dam is a software product supposedly designed to protect kids in China from objectionable and potentially harmful content on the Internet, much like CYBERsitter does. There are a couple of significant differences however. The first is that is also blocks politically and socially sensitive information like Tibet, Democracy, Taiwan independence, and religious material. The...

I need to help a friend who believes he was taken advantage of in a stock manipulation deal. I'm trying to help him, and I'm looking for data for 5/13/2009 for AMR (AMR Corporation). When I look at the stock tickers that I'm aware of, for that date, the information available is just opening, closing, high and low values. I need higher granularity, the way it gives for the last week, with minute by minute graphs. Does anyone know of a source, preferably free, for that information?

A prayer request for my Mom My wonderful Mother has arrived at the end of her journey. Her physicians have said that she'll be leaving us in 12-48 hours. A result of cancer and old age. (She's turned 29 more than 50 times already) My simple request is that some FReepers would say a prayer for Pat, that her journey to be with God, her parents, siblings and other dearly departed is swift and direct. And that my wonderful sister, who has taken care of our Mom through all of this, is given special comfort from God in this time...

I have a family member in Virginia who has had their life threatened by an honest to God kook. The cops put the kook in the psycho ward and now he's out. I'm interested in information I can send to this family member regarding personal protection in Virginia. CCW laws, body guards, etc. Forgive the vanity please. I just need good links to pass on.

Can anyone confirm the origin of this sword?  It belonged to my father who had it as long as any of us can remember, but alas he is no longer with us and nobody thought to ask him when he was alive.  He served in the USMC in WWII, Korea and Vietnam, and I believe that this sword's official designation is a U.S. Marine Corps NCO Saber.  Presumably from sometime between 1942 (join) and 1969 (retire).  If there's any grunts out there who can help me determine if this was an official USMC NCO Saber I'd really appreciate it. FYI,...

BEIJING, China -- Already guaranteed a medal, but showing no signs of slowing down, the United States softball team cruised to a 9-0 rout of China on Monday. [...]The three U.S. pitchers -- Osterman, Finch and Monica Abbott -- have a 0.00 combined ERA in 39 innings pitched. The U.S. has outscored its opponents 53-1 in its seven games, with the only run allowed being an unearned tally by Canada last week.
