  • Vanity - A World Gone Mad

Happy New Year. We live in a world gone mad. The largest companies are now pretty much run by leftists. I’ve been a technologist for several decades, and I work as a consultant to one of the largest companies in the USA. My dog and I wanted a sandwich for lunch today, New Year’s Day. We ordered it on Uber Eats from a deli across town. Uber took my order and my money. When I got there the deli was closed. Uber eventually refunded my money, but their app should have never taken the order in the first place. Uber...

I am dying here laughing at some of the reactions to the Rittenhouse verdict, filled with hyperbole, outright lies, and delicious tears. I’d like to document the best ones. Keeping in mind that Mr. Rittenhouse shot three white guys in self defense, I’ll start with the Rev. Al Sharpton, who seems to be living in an alternate universe: "These continue to be dark days for black people killed at the hands of people that believe our lives do not matter. This verdict was not only outrageous and dangerous, it was also an obvious signal that encourages and notifies 'vigilantes' that...

Hello FRiends, So…many of you know I’m in CT. I’ve been homeless with my Jack Russell since January. I spent some time in Florida but now I’m back. I had some medical setbacks so I’m pretty much starting again. I can’t find a place to live, and we’re going to be out on the street for the winter, which isn’t going to be good. Can anyone steer me toward a rental, pretty much anywhere in the country? I’m hoping for CT or FL, but I’m pretty desperate. Feel free to FReepmail me as well. Thanks everyone.

    Straight Line Logic ^ | 6/20/2020 | Robert Gore
During the coronavirus hoax and the George Floyd riots, most people kept their comments and criticisms to private conversations and internet postings. They didn’t respond to forced lockdowns or violence in the streets with violence of their own, although many of them have the ability and capacity to do so. Their restraint has been the primary force keeping whatever remains of the peace in this country. The restraint stems from respect for that peace, their stake in maintaining it, and a fading hope that things will eventually get back to normal. People who run businesses, have jobs, own property, and...

Background: My family has an email list where we share articles and opinions. Someone recently circulated this opinion piece from the New York Times, and I am offering my response hoping for comments from my FRiends. Who Killed the Knapp Family? YAMHILL, Ore. — Chaos reigned daily on the No. 6 school bus, with working-class boys and girls flirting and gossiping and dreaming, brimming with mischief, bravado and optimism. Nick rode it every day in the 1970s with neighbors here in rural Oregon, neighbors like Farlan, Zealan, Rogena, Nathan and Keylan Knapp. They were bright, rambunctious, upwardly mobile youngsters whose...

The video of Hong Kong students singing the Star Spangled Banner was quite moving (click the photo above to see it). What a contrast to the self-centered, spoiled little snowflakes who are having a years-long temper tantrum because they want to be more like China, while the youth in Hong Kong is willing to die to be more like them. at least as far as liberty and freedom go. I am happy that I will be dead by the time this rotten tree bears fruit, and I only hope that the generation after the millennials can clean up what's...
  • The evil of Sandy Hook (Jeremy Richman suicide) VANITY

Evil never stops destroying. Jeremy Richman was a good guy. We chatted once a week at one of my local hangouts where he would appear with his beautiful daughter usually dressed as a princess and his eighteen month old son. We talked about the usual stuff people casually acquainted speak of — the weather, town politics and kids. He was a warm and friendly person. We spoke several times before someone told me he had lost a daughter in the shooting. Jeremy and his family started a foundation named after their daughter Arielle, and the foundation offices were in the...

Another morning I almost spit out my coffee from laughing. Let me see if I have this straight. The three moron, liberal, tax and spend and kick the can down the road Governors of Connecticut, New York and New Jersey are filing suit against the federal government because they say limiting their taxpayers' ability to deduct the outrageously high income taxes in their states is unfair, which has to be unconstitutional. First off, when one of these idiots screams that something is "unfair," put your hand on your wallet. Of course, the unfairness isn't in the fact that they are...
  • [CT Gov] Malloy: Christie a bully for closing the beaches

A political line has been drawn in the sand this summer, with the governors of Connecticut and New Jersey taking opposite sides on whether to keep state beaches open during a budget impasse — and throwing shade at each other. Connecticut still has no budget agreement, but Democrat Dannel P. Malloy signed an executive order last week to avert a government shutdown and keep state beaches and parks open for now. Contrast that with Republican Chris Christie, who basked in the sunshine with his family at a New Jersey state beach over the weekend that was closed to the public...
  • Worries Grow About Trump's Travel Ban [Media Bias]

The Trump administration’s implementation of the so-called travel ban could prevent scores of refugees from coming to Connecticut as planned, although they have been fully vetted and await only a date to resettle in the country, advocates said late last week. Local Muslims, meanwhile, worried that last week’s Supreme Court decision partly approving the 90-day travel ban for visitors from six mostly Muslim countries, and Trump’s restrictive refugee policies, will increase anti-Muslim sentiment in the country. Zarina Mohamed, a Bethel resident born in Yemen, one of the six designated countries, never thought the ban would be reinstated after two federal...

As many of you know I have lived in Sandy Hook, CT for about 20 years. Newtown (the Connecticut town that Sandy Hook is part of) has its institutions, including Fairfield Hills, the former mental institution and $30 million albatross, our giant American flag in the center of Main St., and the rooster weathervane atop the Congregational church that Revolutionary War soldiers used for target practice. It later became the town symbol according to legend. We also have the deli and coffee shop owned for decades by my friend of 20 years Agnes (not her real name). Agnes is known...

After a few days of trying to ignore the question, Michelle Nunn, the Democratic candidate for the United States Senate in Georgia, acknowledged on Friday that she had voted for Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012. By this year’s standards, that’s pretty forthright, especially compared with Alison Lundergan Grimes, the Democrat running for the Senate in Kentucky, who refuses to discuss her presidential vote. Only one Democratic Senate candidate this cycle has been willing to appear with the president on the stump: Gary Peters in Michigan. The others have spent months keeping their distance from Mr. Obama and some of...

The governor of Connecticut is a tool. He ran one of our biggest cities (Stamford) into the ground, and now has managed to run this liberal paradise of a state into the ground as well. Aside from the personal attacks on the GOP candidate that is running against him that come from the so-called media here in Connecticut, all we keep hearing about this election season is "common sense solutions to gun violence." I live in Sandy Hook. On December 14, 2013 a young man who was pretty much insane murdered 26 people in an elementary school a few miles...

Despite the president's low approval ratings, and the continuing cacophony of hate directed toward him by Republicans and racists, any reasonable assessment of Barack Obama's accomplishments to date would conclude that his presidency could well go down as a time of historic achievement. The Affordable Care Act, the Lilly Ledbetter Act, the Dodd-Frank Financial Regulation Bill -- the largest since the New Deal -- and his economic policies bolstered by yeoman's work of the Federal Reserve, place Obama solidly in the company of presidents like FDR and LBJ. Despite widespread Republican disinformation about and unrelenting opposition to the Affordable Care...

BRIDGEPORT -- Tom Foley, the Greenwich millionaire who is reprising his 2010 bid for governor, thinks the state spends too much on mass transit. He's critical of the 2013 firearms reforms following the Newtown school massacre. Red tape and regulations, he says, are stifling the business community; and Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's "corporate welfare" is rewarding successful companies that don't need the help. But the Republican frontrunner, who faces a primary Tuesday against state Senate Minority Leader John McKinney for the gubernatorial nomination, offered few details in a meeting Wednesday with the editorial boards of Hearst Connecticut Media, including the...

A citizen’s phone call to Connecticut state police about a letter ordering gun owners to dispose of their unregistered so-called “assault” weapons and standard-capacity magazines is sending shockwaves through the national gun-rights community after being recorded and posted online. The heated phone conversation over the document took place amid rapidly escalating tensions between gun owners and state authorities determined to impose more gun control on Connecticut residents. In the recording, state police spokesman Lt. Paul Vance – who did not know he was being recorded and told WND it was illegal to do so – can be heard telling the...

A day after President Barack Obama visited the Washington Naval Yard, site of the nation's latest mass shooting, local and federal officials called on citizens across the country to form a coalition large enough to battle the powerful gun lobby. At a roundtable discussion at the Margaret Morton Government Center in Bridgeport on Monday, U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said he and other senators will only be able to take on the gun lobby and pass stronger gun laws if people throughout the nation speak up. "What makes the NRA strong is that they can mobilize tens of thousands of...

HARTFORD -- Lawmakers and gun-control advocates anticipate the strongest laws in the nation to emerge Monday, when leaders of the General Assembly finally unveil their bipartisan response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. After closed-door House and Senate caucuses review the secret list of gun-control, school-safety and mental-health legislation, top Democratic and Republican leaders will meet a final time, then announce what they will debate and vote on later in the week. "We're hoping we can reach a conclusion," said Senate Minority Leader John McKinney, R-Fairfield, whose district includes Newtown. "We should have a comprehensive package that will be...

Colt's Manufacturing, the company that has made the iconic gun dubbed "The Peacemaker" for more than a century, could pull up its Connecticut stakes after coming under fire in the national debate over the Second Amendment. President and CEO Dennis Veilleux said the pro-gun control climate that has taken hold in the wake of the Sandy Hook school massacre and other firearm attacks has left him feeling unwelcome in the state his company has called home for 175 years. Proposed laws being debated by the Legislature and pushed by Gov. Dannel Malloy include a new gun offender registry, an expanded...

Hi Everyone. Cato here. Pets Alive is an animal sanctuary in upstate New York run by friends of mine. I support Pets Alive with my time and money. They recently rescued 120 beagles from a lab in New Jersey that had gone bankrupt. Below is the story: Independence Day is a day of great celebration at my house. In fact, it is the only party that I host all year. The party is today, and I’m expecting 50 to 60 people this evening. Unlike certain people and Presidents, I do not apologize for being American. This was the document marking the...
