I shutter to think what plans are in store for conservative sites when the current administration so quickly violates the free speech rights of 73,000 legitimate sites!

Wonderful, just one more way for our benevolent federal government to spy on us.

For those of you who thought the Talon domestic surveillance system was dead... it's back! Talon 2.0 coupled with the recent legislation giving the Feds the power to seize control over private networks = not a pretty picture.

This seems very encouraging given the "open government" we have now...

So the federal government is rushing into cloud computing without any thought for security, privacy and other important topics. And then last month the Dept of Engraving gets hacked because their cloud computing provider was compromised? Can anyone say insanity?
-
Oh man this is rich. The same group of people who want to grab control of private civilian networks can't even secure their own network! Can you say poetic justice?

This is pretty scary stuff. The Federal government is ready to seize control of private company networks in order to "protect" us in the event of a hacker attack.

I am in the same boat as the developer whose app was rejected (and later approved under pressure) by Apple. So far, our app has been rejected three times by Apple because "... it contains content that ridicules public figures". Our app is a countdown timer to the 2010 midterm elections, 2012 presidential election, and 2013 inauguration. The images are included below. Can you help a fellow Freeper get his iPhone app published by Apple?

Orange County "Support our President" rally - 8/23 President Bush was here in Orange County today to help raise money for Bill Simon's campaign. Freepers were in attendance to show support for our President.WillaJohns, SoAmerRepublican, and oc-flyfish (along with wife and daughter) were in attendance today. In addition, a number of California Republican Party members were there with us. The unwashed minions of darkness (democrats, tree huggers, communists, hippies, and druggies) were there as demanded by their task masters. It was quite funny as a number of their signs didn't even make sense. Here are pictures from the event: SoAmerRepublican and...

The vulnerability exists in XDR (External Data Representation) libraries derived from SunRPC (remote procedure call) used in products from Sun, as well as from Apple Computer Inc., IBM and a number of Linux and Unix...

At Home Woes Imperil 4 Million Broadband Users Wednesday, November 28, 2001; 10:41 PM Four million high-speed Internet customers could lose their access to the Web as early as midnight Friday if a federal bankruptcy court judge allows financially troubled At Home Corp. to suspend service. At Home is the cable industry's largest provider of Internet access, and its closure would cut subscribers off from their e-mail accounts. A shutdown also could jeopardize one of the fastest-growing sources of revenue to the cable industry, as disgruntled customers opt for other ways to get online. "The whole service will be blocked," ...

THE NORTHERN ALLIANCE turned its attention to the southern half of the country this week after a series of major victories across the north culminated Monday with the capture of Kabul, the capital. Taliban forces retreated rapidly this week to Kandahar, home of its supreme leader, but almost immediately came under attack there from alliance forces sweeping south. A senior U.S. official said many Taliban fighters — “in the thousands” — had abandoned Kandahar by late Wednesday and were headed west to Helmand province, about 100 miles away. The official told NBC’s Robert Windrem on condition of anonymity that the ...

The San Onofre nuclear power plant is one of the most visible--and potentially deadly--targets in Southern California, yet government officials haven't added some of the extra protections put in place at the nation's other nuclear facilities since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Southern California Edison has stepped up security at its plant south of San Clemente by adding more private, armed security guards. The California Highway Patrol and Coast Guard have beefed up patrols as well, and the plant is at its highest stage of alert. But measures taken by government agencies don't go as far there as some taken ...

I'm not sure how many of you have installed Windows XP yet but I thought I would bring up something interesting. When you are running through the initial setup screen (blue) and Windows is loading all the device drivers I noticed one in particular that caught my eye: Human Interface Parser I checked Microsoft's support knowledge base (support.microsoft.com) and nothing was listed there about this new addition. Anyone have any ideas or care to share some humorous opinions?
