  • It's Time for Conservatives to Reject Donald Trump

This has gone on long enough. All that anyone can talk about right now is how Republican voters are itching for someone to “stand and fight,” “speak his mind,” and “tell it like it is.” All right then, here goes. Donald Trump is not a conservative, and it’s beyond time every Republican knows it. This MSNBC caricature of the GOP incarnate is getting heaps of praise from frustrated conservative base voters and unfortunately too much airtime from conservative political pundits because he evidently “tells it like it is.” Except that he doesn’t.

As a conservative I gave up long ago on balanced television news coverage. But even this jaded viewer has been disappointed by what I consider unfair and inadequate news coverage of Presidential Candidate Ted Cruz. When Cruz first entered the race for a Texas senate seat he instantly became a favorite of tea party crowds. That’s not because Cruz was some fringe lunatic or right wing radical. Its because he instantly displayed world class communication skills that he used masterfully to articulate conservatism. Though it may sound like heresy to some, I would posit that Cruz is better at communicating...

The boomlet for Donald Trump as a Republican nominee for President of the United States ought to be a wake-up call for Republican candidates and Republican Party leaders alike. Why has Trump surged ahead of other Republican candidates and potential candidates in the polls? It is not likely that his resurrection of the issue of Barack Obama's birth certificate has aroused all this support.

Fourth of July GOP Presidential Preference Poll Reply in this thread to the following question: (1) If the GOP Primary/Caucus were held TODAY in your area, whom would you vote for as your choice for the Republican Nominee for President (Choose 1 Only) NOTE: They don't have to be officially declared so vote for whomever you want. (2) If you could choose one GOP Presidential Candidate to be removed from contention immediately, who would you choose (Choose 1 Only). (3) Optional - In choosing the person you would vote for TODAY or choosing the candidate you would want removed from...

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz was born in 1970, six years after events refuted a theory on which he is wagering his candidacy. The 1964 theory was that many millions of conservatives abstained from voting because the GOP did not nominate sufficiently deep-dyed conservatives.

Can Ted Cruz mathematically win the Republican Nomination? In order to answer this question, it’s important to look at the current rules that are being set in place in each state and territory for the Republican nominating contest. With help from the information presented on the Green Papers, it appears the magic number to win the GOP nomination in 2016 is 1,235 delegates. As we all know, many states have their own rules in how they award delegates, whether they are bound/unbound, whether there is a binding primary or caucus, and whether the Party leader “super-delegates” in each state/territory are...

If you're not familiar with the following website, you need to. These guys have systematically all of the data concerning the delegates and nomination process for the parties and how delegates are selected, what counts, and what doesn't count. I've reviewed the list and am currently working on an IA projection map of the caucus and potential vote but waiting until the straw poll when I can start filling in candidates. Yet, when I review the total states, I find it difficult to see how the Establishment loses if they are unopposed by other Establishment candidates. Red States for the...

FReepers, I need some assistance and have run out of places to turn. For the past 12 months I've been trying to secure some type of employment, but have been unable to because whenever a background check is ran, I get flagged/disqualified for an outstanding arrest warrant in the state of Delaware. Here's the basis of the situation. I was a Reservist that did my Reserve duty at Dover AFB for the past 4 years and for a good chunk of that time I was on actual active duty orders. The last time I was on orders (Apr-Sep 2012), I...

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has won the 2013 Heisman Trophy. Winston is only the second redshirt freshman to win the award after Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel was handed the trophy as a redshirt freshman last year. Winston is the third player in school history to earn the distinction, following former Seminole QBs Charlie Ward ('93) and Chris Weinke ('€™00).

At 4:43 a.m. ET on Dec. 7, 2012, a report of a sexual assault was filed with the Tallahassee Police Department. The incident took place earlier that morning, between 1:30 and 2 a.m. The alleged suspect, it is now known, is Jameis Winston, currently the starting quarterback and Heisman contender for second-ranked Florida State. Winston has not been charged with a crime. Forget innocent until proven guilty, absolutely no law enforcement body has accused him of doing anything at all. He'll continue to quarterback the Seminoles.

Prior to the 2012 Election and after the first Romney/Obama Presidential Debate I started creating prediction models for each of the contested "Battleggrounds". OH was the first and most detailed state I reviewed because it seemed like it could go either way. The original model spreadsheet I posted on FR contained county by county results for the 2004 and 2008 Presidential Elections, the 2010 OH Governor Race, and the 2010 Referendum Union Question. I used this data to develop the probable voter turnouts for each county and determined the number of votes and vote margin the GOP candidate would need...

In a dark room somewhere, Hillary Clinton continues to self-medicate her depression with as much alcohol as she can afford. Martin O’Malley is looking distressingly at his empty calendar trying to stay relevant. Andrew Cuomo scours the stores to claim as many bottles of slick hair gel he can. And Joe Biden, lol, poor Joe still thinks he’s got a shot despite most of his party voting base not having a clue of who the hell he is other than the guy that came in with Obama. They’ve all been usurped this week by the events that unfolded in Massachusetts...
