This has gone on long enough. All that anyone can talk about right now is how Republican voters are itching for someone to “stand and fight,” “speak his mind,” and “tell it like it is.” All right then, here goes. Donald Trump is not a conservative, and it’s beyond time every Republican knows it. This MSNBC caricature of the GOP incarnate is getting heaps of praise from frustrated conservative base voters and unfortunately too much airtime from conservative political pundits because he evidently “tells it like it is.” Except that he doesn’t.

As a conservative I gave up long ago on balanced television news coverage. But even this jaded viewer has been disappointed by what I consider unfair and inadequate news coverage of Presidential Candidate Ted Cruz. When Cruz first entered the race for a Texas senate seat he instantly became a favorite of tea party crowds. That’s not because Cruz was some fringe lunatic or right wing radical. The boomlet for Donald Trump as a Republican nominee for President of the United States ought to be a wake-up call for Republican candidates and Republican Party leaders alike. Why has Trump surged ahead of other Republican candidates and potential candidates in the polls? It is not likely that his resurrection of the issue of Barack Obama's birth certificate has aroused all this support.

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has won the 2013 Heisman Trophy. Winston is only the second redshirt freshman to win the award after Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel was handed the trophy as a redshirt freshman last year. Winston is the third player in school history to earn the distinction, following former Seminole QBs Charlie Ward ('93) and Chris Weinke ('€™00).

At 4:43 a.m. ET on Dec. 7, 2012, a report of a sexual assault was filed with the Tallahassee Police Department. The incident took place earlier that morning, between 1:30 and 2 a.m. The alleged suspect, it is now known, is Jameis Winston, currently the starting quarterback and Heisman contender for second-ranked Florida State.
