If you change the New Hampshire vote in that second map from Obama to McCain (which could easily happen) it ends in a 269 tie for each. Talk about a nightmare. The House of Representatives would then choose the next President.
In Illinois, the Dems MUST retain the seat of first term Dem. Melissa Bean if they want to win back the House - so how do you explain this (from the Pittsburgh Tribune):
"Independent, pro-labor candidate Bill Scheurer remained on the ballot after last Monday's deadline without challenge in the Chicago suburban congressional district where freshman Democrat Rep. Melissa Bean is a priority Republican target for 2006.
It had been widely expected that state House Speaker Mike Madigan, the Illinois Democrat chairman, would challenge Scheurer's collection of the necessary 14,000 petition signatures for ballot access. Scheurer had filed a lawsuit alleging dirty tricks by Madigan and other Democrat leaders."
So now there are three candidates; Bean, Republican McSweeny, and this pro-labor (soon-to-be anti-war) guy. Every vote he gets will come from Bean. Sometimes I think the Dems just ain't too bright.
It will be a Hispanic - Garza. The second appointment will also be a Hispanic - maybe Gonzales, maybe Estrada, depending on what happens to the first Hispanic appointment. If Ginsburg croaks (or retires), the third nomination may be another Hispanic, or a black female.
This is what this President has always been about. If he waivers, then you will see a Cronyn (sp?) or a Hatch nominated. I think he will do what he's done with all the other court nominations - shove it down their throats.
Its the Frists, McCains and Warners that trouble me.
Gee, I wonder why the son of the great "Deal Maker" did so badly in the special election? Lots of money, great organization, famous name. Hmmm, just never can tell nowadays.
Its interesting that you mention his wife. This POS was cheating on his wife with his girlfriend, had a baby with her, and when the wife found out - she divorced him.
Now get this - when he went on a bus tour of his district, he brought along his three children and HIS MISTRESS.
You can donate to Brinkman and then send an email to DeWine's son (as I did) telling him it was a "gift" from his father. Its a Republican district, so whomever wins the primary wins the General. Brinkman is conservative and pro-life.
His webpage is: http://www.gobrinkman.com/. DeWine's webpage is: http://patdewine.com/sbcc/personalinfo.php?page=biography&seq=2.
