The Rochester NY Independence Day Tea Party was held on Friday, July 3, 2009 at Ontario Beach Park in the Rochester waterfront of Lake Ontario, a place that is known as Charlotte. Most people were given this day off as a Holiday and the organizers, We Surround Rochester, the Campaign for Freedom, the Campaign for America and RochesterConservative.com, thought that having it in the evening, from 6pm-9pm, would be a great way of starting out the Independence Day weekend...

This post is going to be a work in progress, as I get photos, videos and personal accounts, I’ll add to it, so check back often. I started out April 15, 2009, in prayer for God’s protection and for the success of the Tax Day Rochester Tea Party. Wow, did God ever answer my prayers tenfold! We were blessed with a beautiful, rain-free, sunny day with temperatures in the low 50’s. That’s pretty good weather for Rochester this time of year and did we get a turnout of citizen patriots, beyond mine and Erik’s wildest dreams! Read the rest here

By rochester_veteran On a cold and very blustery day, approximately 40 concerned citizens met at a downtown Rochester, NY park on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, to participate in our local version of the Tea Parties that have been sweeping the nation! NY Governor Paterson was here for a "town hall" meeting at the Rochester Convention Center and the decision was made nine days prior that with the Governor in town, March 11 would be present a great opportunity to not only protest the Porkulus Package, but also the crushing tax burden that New York State inflicts on its citizens. Word...

The Rochester Tea Party starts at 5pm on March 11, but I'm advising people to get downtown by 4:30pm in order to find parking and walk to park. Here's a street map with the location of the Rochester Tea Party and suggested parking: Here's the satellite image of the meeting location and suggested parkink:

I just had a student who's a conservative ask me this on another blog: "we will visit Washington, D.C. in the fall and meet with executive agencies, special interest groups, and congressmen. Our issue is Veteran's Affairs. Any thoughts on the way our government is treating our veterans? Any people you would recommend we meet with?" Please post your suggestions and I'll pass this on to my friend, alexander h. Thanks in advance!

Church-State Watchdog Group Says Board's Preference For Christianity Flouts First Amendment Of The Constitution Americans United for Separation of Church and State today filed a lawsuit in federal district court against a town council in New York that opens its public sessions with Christian prayer. Americans United sued the Greece, N.Y., Town Board and its supervisor, John Auberger, on behalf of two local residents who object to government-sponsored religious activities that favor one faith over others. The lawsuit alleges that almost all of the board’s opening prayers are explicitly Christian, and that since 2004, only a single non-Christian has been...

A Conservative Website for Rochester, NY, Launched Today, RochesterConservative.com I'd like to invite all Freepers to come on over and visit RochesterConservative.com, the Conservative website for the Greater Rochester, NY area. Our country is currently in the midst of a cultural war between the left and right, liberal versus conservative, athiest versus Judeo/Christian. Anybody who’s been following or participating in blogs and internet forums has probably taken note of this. RochesterConservative.com is a grassroots effort to spread the word that smaller government is good government and self reliance and love of God and Country is still considered a virtue in...

I'm working with a few other people in the Rochester area on creating a conservative website/blog. The blogger software for the webhosting company that we have our website on is WordPress. Unfortunately for me, WordPress uses php, something I know little about. I'd like to have a unique look and feel to the website, a patriotic theme preferably a three column theme. I did find a couple of free themes on the web, but they're two columned. I'd rather a Freeper helped us out with this. If you have any ideas, please post here.

D&C “Storychat” invaded by Freepers by Itchy on July 18, 2007 @ 3:03 pm · Filed under blog, D&C, "liberal" media, race Unfortunately for Rochester, many of the D&C storychats are being dominated by extreme-right zealots. It’s gotten so bad on a couple of articles that it’s starting to sound like the fever swamps of RochesterWatch.com…

My Brush with the LeftistsCommentary by rochester_veteran I've been a freeper since that late 1990's. At first, I was a lurker and I started posting back in late 2001. I credit Free Republic, amongst others, to showing me the light and breaking the spell that liberalism and leftism had over me. Back in October, 2006, I joined the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reader Forum. One can comment on local topic, business, sports, editorials, etc. I've enjoyed participating in alot of the topics and it could be a lively place. Lately, I've been jumping in and defending President Bush and the...

Catholic Citizens have a Duty to Vote in Accord with Church’s Social Teaching, Bishops State CHICAGO, Ill. (Catholic Online) – Catholic citizens have a duty to vote and must exercise that responsibility in accord with principles of Catholic social teaching, including, first and foremost, the dignity of the human person and the right to life from conception to natural death, said the Illinois bishops. In the Oct. 6 Catholic Conference of Illinois statement, “Elections, Conscience and the Responsibility to Vote,” the 12 bishops stressed that with one-quarter of the Midwest U.S. state’s population and almost one-third of the U.S....

Marine's Remains Returned from Vietnam After 39 Years Chalonda Roberts (Chili, N.Y.) - After 39 years, a Marine from Chili is finally coming home from the Vietnam War. It isn't the homecoming his family dreamed of, though. His father recently learned his son's remains have been identified and will be flown back to U.S. soil. James Widener was 18 when his helicopter was shot down in 1967. His father, Jay Widener, never gave up hope that his son would be found. The elder Widener, now 83, flips through a book filled with pages of letters written over the years asking...

Batavia High Parents Learn About Gender Identity Disorder Mike Doria, Patrice Walsh (Batavia, N.Y.) -- Parents at Batavia High School learned a lot about gender identity disorder Monday night. More than 100 parents met with school leaders and heard from legal and medical experts to talk about the transition when a male teacher at the high school returns to school next week as a woman. The earth science teacher, whose name hasn't been released, has been with the Batavia City School District for eight years. Parents were sent a letter last week explaining the situation. Some feel they weren't amply...

From 2001: New Orleans faces doomsday scenario Houston Chronicle ^ | December 1, 2001 | ERIC BERGER KEEPING ITS HEAD ABOVE WATER New Orleans faces doomsday scenario New Orleans is sinking. And its main buffer from a hurricane, the protective Mississippi River delta, is quickly eroding away, leaving the historic city perilously close to disaster. So vulnerable, in fact, that earlier this year the Federal Emergency Management Agency ranked the potential damage to New Orleans as among the three likeliest, most castastrophic disasters facing this country. The other two? A massive earthquake in San Francisco, and, almost prophetically, a terrorist...
