And while we are most intrigued by 2012 Presidential Polls, we also realize that they are the most volatile. They are good, however, for establishing floors of certain candidates for certain criteria. Prime example: Sarah Palin. We can accurately assume that Sarah Palin’s floor is at 40% because she sits their having received the full attack of the MSM, and establishment D and R operatives. And we can assume that Newt Gingrich’s ceiling is at 41%, having maxed out here despite years of no negative press (we can assume that as history revives, Gingrich will not thrive).

The bottom-line is that the left exploits hypocrisy like a squirrel exploits nuts. In a hypothetical Daniels campaign, any mention of the debt will bring a litany of fingers pointing back at Daniels for his own part in setting the current spending trend and financial catastrophe we find ourselves in today. And believe me, the Obama people most certainly have Mitch Daniels number. After all, the person who wrote that Time Magazine article I noted above, was James Carney. The same James Carney (aka “Jay” Carney) who replaced Robert Gibbs as Obama’s Press Secretary.

While Sarah Palin has been everywhere over the past two years, and in just about every major story, her persona has been defined by the media. Polling will remain volatile until Sarah Palin begins her expected run for the White House. At which point, her poll numbers will likely rise as the 70% of the population (non-political independents, non-political junkies, and “moderates”) see her in a more favorable light and she is able to present herself to a broader audience.

Even in bad years for Democrats, Dingell’s won comfortably—he's been held under 60 percent of the vote just once in his long career.
