Whatever. I got so many "troll" replies to my prediction more accusers would come out and Cain would withdraw between Thanksgiving and Christmas I stopped caring.

Call me a troll all you want. If I have a better understanding of the situation than the Cain True Believers then what does that make them?

People here blind themselves to the truth about their pick and lash out with nonsense when someone speaks about reality.

Palin quit her governorship to make money. Palin’s posse will make excuses for her, but it wasn’t some leftist conspiracy. The family got out of Alaska onto the TV and book circuit and now she’s a millionaire. This election cycle she strung the true believers along to bank some cash and sell some books. She opted not to run at the last possible moment.

The only reason to believe a conspiracy would be to continue to sanctify the woman’s image while ignoring what she has actually been doing.

I think Cain and Perry represent the least threat to Obama. “Oops” in a national debate? Or Cain trying to take 5 minutes to give a non answer to a question because he didn’t get enough sleep the night before? Yeah, takes a huge conspiracy to bring him down before the nomination even happens.

Posters here exhibit a huge amount of hubris when picking a horse and sticking by him because they refuse to admit they made a bad choice. So many irrational arguments supporting demonstrably bad candidates.

And then blaming the left for GOP candidates failures really puts the rest of the field in a position of strength.

  • BREAKING: Woman to Accuse Herman Cain of 13-Year Affair

I don't believe he ever could have been the one.

Cain's personal affairs just distract from his real inability to deliver on policy. People derided Obama for being inexperienced as a less than two year senator. Claimed Palin had the leg up on him thanks to her (abbreviated) governorship. Now Cain comes bumbling along to go up against people with actual experience and he exists so far outside the establishment he can't recall his own policy. And people look at that like a positive!

He doesn't seem to have a strong enough metal model of his own policy. When he gets a question that he did not get specific coaching for he cannot synthesize an coherent answer because his mental model doesn't function well enough. Successful politicians have (what they believe) is a correct world view. Answers go in as inputs; coherent response come out. Just watch Cain's answer on abortion (both should be banned, and it isn't the governments business), on Libya (Hm, well he'd talk to his advisors and have a better handle on the situation). His 9-9-9 plan suddenly has extra exemptions (Zoning proposal).

Three successful governors throw their hats in the ring. Perry blew his own campaign (Oops) and the Mormons draw the ire of Christians who would rather support an adulterer than someone from a different sect, which blows my mind. Of course Romney has his own issues with liberal stances. Huntsman I supported, but he seems to have flamed out completely. I think he lacks the drive.

The Republican primary boiled down to:

    • Two or three candidates on book tours
      • Bachmann who doesn't plan on hiring staff
      • Cain who will be selling books all week
      • Palin if you count her non-commital months
    • Newt who just wants to stay relevant for the consulting gigs
    • Rick "Anyone in the audience could have guessed my own answer to this policy question" Perry
    • Ron "Half the stuff I say makes sense, other half... don't bother voting for me.
    • Romney has so many issues with consistency why bother even playing.
    • Hunstmans who decided to stop getting out of bed.
Christi didn't want to have to try to out crazy some of these people (Electric fences to kill border crossers? haha I thought it was a joke, until he immediately repeated it). Betting on a horse early and then committing whole heartedly to them I think turned off anyone suitable from signing up. Even here you can see people who fall in love with someone like Palin or Cain and think they will be the second coming of Reagan.

2016 hopefully will be more reasonable.

Republicans in congress already plan to botch the automatic cuts. Attempts will be made to protect defense spending. Once they start tearing up the automatic cuts they will have basically handed Obama a win. All the hysteria over raising the debt ceiling? All for naught. Watch the same Republicans who demanded these automatic cuts squirm while they try to weasel out and protect their interests.

Why does the gunslinger who draws first always get shot? The person reacting to a gun draw uses a quicker decision pathway in the brain for about a 9% increase in speed.

The speed increase generally won't save you, but if the initiator did not fully commit to draw and fire it does give you a chance. Lucky the victim here made sure he wasn't.

This website for instance could be completely blocked, Great Firewall of China style, because it posts whole copies of copyrighted works. Say someone grabs a post from a news site and pastes it in a comment here. Currently that news site can send a DMCA notice and an admin here can remove the infringing content without any penalty. (Called the Safe Harbor provision).

This bill changes the system so a company sends a copyright complaint to Free Repubilc's hosting provider and/or payment processors. Then www.freerepublic.com will be blocked. (You could still access the website via the IP Address). Credit Card donations would be blocked. The admins here would then have 5 days to file an appeal. It also removes the "Safe Harbor" provision from the DMCA which means any sites that accept user submitted content (Facebook, Twitter, Free Republic, really anything with a comments section) would then become responsible for the content users submit.

Basically the government gets cut out of the loop and Warner Brothers, Associate Press, etc would be sending legally binding notifications to service providers on their own. WB sent out fake notices under the current system a more powerful set of regualtions means internet disaster.

The legal status of Marijuana borders on insanity. 41% of Americans have tried it, yet users clog the justice system. It falls into the same class as heroine, yet is less addictive than coffee.

We know prohibition fails, yet we still fund an entire agency just to implement those policies. Policies that (applied to alcohol) proved to increase crime, and burdens society by creating an entire class of criminals who live normal lives.

Any guesses which way she'll go?
My Guess: Palin will describe a hypothetical candidate who backs a certain list of conservative values, but never actually pick a candidate. Too early for her to pick the winner, and no one wants to be out there backing the loser.

I read the transcript. The grand jury explicitly writes they find McQueary credible and the indictment specifies eight victims. However, I think the trial itself will prove to be a lot more of a gray area than the media lets on.

Certainly strange to read McQueary claiming to witness a man sexually assaulting a child and as an initial response he calls his dad to find out what to do, then he meets with Joe Paterno and then with the AD.

The reports portray this as clearcut child rape, but I just cannot wrap my head around McQueary relaying the incident in such a way to his father, Paterno, and Spanier and none of these people reacting in any way. Sandusky will forever be known for these accusations, but I don’t think the indictment will lead to a guaranteed legal conviction.

The fact no one said “Did you call the police? Let’s call the police.” leads me to believe McQueary relayed the incident differently to the Penn State staff than he did to the grand jury.

    The pill does three things.

    1) Prevents ovulation most of the time.
    2) Thickens cervical mucus which prevents sperm from reaching the egg.
    3) Reduces the thickness of the uterus lining which prevents implantation of fertilized eggs.

The pill can fail at steps 1 and 2. Otherwise, pill use would be as effective as abstinence.

The pill does #3. It prevents implantation of a fertilized egg. The morning after pill is essentially a triple dose of regular birth control to do exactly that.

Do you have an example of any hormonal birth control which does NOT reduce the likelihood of the implantation of a fertilized egg?

You seem to be avoiding the point completely that an egg can still be released from the ovaries while a woman is taking the pill. Calling the fertilized egg a person means the pill has the explicit effect of killing that person.

Following conception, the pill prevents a fertilized egg from implanting.

Are you debating that fact? Or are you saying that the fertilized egg would not count as a person yet? Your blanket dismissal as misinformation ignores the text of the amendment and the reality of what the birth control pill does.
