An excellent article. Being in the ministry for the last eighteen years, and ministering here and overseas, I have seen evil first-hand. There is a "mind" behind evil and his name is satan. I have personally cast his demons out of people. I remember one time a lady who came to us for help, began to shake and dropped to the floor. The temperature in the room immediately dropped and she began to speak and three maybe four different voices were coming out of her at the same time. They were speaking all kinds of foul things and saying they were going to kill us etc. My wife and another couple from our ministry, dropped to the floor to hold her down so she would' nt hurt herself thrashing about. She was laying prone, I was on one arm , my wife sitting on her ankles, and one holding her other arm. She was exhibiting super human strength and it was almost impossible to hold her down. My wife, who at the time weighed about 140lbs, was thrown over the lady's head into a cabinet. Well, as we began to command these demons to leave in Jesus' Name, they began to leave one by one until 13 separate demons left in all. When they were all gone the lady got up and said "they are gone, I''m free!"

Yes, I believe that Islamic militants have opened the door to demonic possession, and willfully given themselves over to real evil. The Bible says that we are not at war with flesh and blood but with principalities, evil powers and wicked spirits that are waging war against humanity in their vain attempt to overthrow the Kingdom of God. I believe that GW has an understanding of this to a certain degree and it is indeed influencing him.

It seems to me that the church will always look foolish to the world. God has chosen it to be so. And their will always be well meaning christians who err from time to time, thus bringing out the cries of those who hate the cause of Christ to condemn christianity as a dangerous, radical, religion. But, in reality as christians, there is nothing that we can do that is wrong, that will truly hurt the cause of Christ, because it is Christ Himself who is building His Church. Our ability to mess up does and cannot trump His eternal victory. No one will be able to stand before God on judgement day and say "Well, I rejected Your Son because of a report on "Dateline", and saw how unreasonable Your christians were. It's their fault I rejected You! " Jesus will just say "I offered you a relationship with Myself, not them. Depart from Me, I never knew you!"

Anyway, the churches call is to know Him and let Him pour His life through us to the lost. We have missed it in thinking that we are here to be His policemen against evil. We must return to preaching the gospel of Peace and not a gospel of Law. Grace has come! Now, go tell!

The Bible also clearly states that it is a wicked generation that seeks after a sign. In other words if you want to find God, you must find Him by grace (God's own ability to enable you to do what you cannot naturally do on your own) through faith. (the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen) . Of course God has placed evidence of Himself in His creation. The perfection of the Universe etc. No one is going to be able to stand before God after they die and say to Him, "Hey, I got a raw deal, How was I suppose to know you were real?" The Bible also says, "Those who come to Him, must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." Faith, not science is the proof of God's existence because the faith you need to believe comes only from Him. sorry man, no other way!

The article as with most Calvinist doctrine misses the one crucial argument put forth in scripture. That is that God is Love. God wanted a bride so He created man. He wanted His Love returned or in others words to be loved back. This is the nature of relationship. But, in creating man out of love in order to have a relationship he had to give man the ability to choose to love God back. That is why He place the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the garden. Man chose unwisely and was forced to live by rules laws morals and values to be with God. These things could never satisfy the demands of a relationship based on Love, love is not obeyed it is chosen. God chose to love us, we choose to love Him.

The other thing that love requires is risk. This is very important. Everyone of us that has ever fallen in love with someone has put themselves at risk that the object of that love might reject them. God knew this as well. He created us with the right inherent in love to turn to Him and reject His offer of Love towards us. Mankind rejects Him every second of every day yet He still loves us. Some people find out that He loves them and accept Him as their God, Jesus as their God and savior and He frees us from our sinful conditions and marriage to the law, causes the death of our sinful nature, and gives us a brand new nature capable of loving Him back through His own love in our hearts. To me a God Who puts Himself at risk of being rejected by the one He Loves is a much much bigger God than one who merely preprograms some lucky ones to be His bride. That sounds like the prearrainged marriages in third world countries. No choice. Just do it.

No, we are all predestined to be conformed to the image of Jesus, to be saved, to be Loved by a God who understood that Love was a choice. But, unfortunately, many will reject His love proposal. And to be honest with you, this kind of Calvinst doctrine portrays God to the world as more of a Geppetto than a God of Love

Spurgeon was sincere, but, sincerely wrong. It is hard to convince a calvinist otherwise, But, love requires freedom to choose and freedom to be chosen. Freedom requires risk and God put Himself at risk when He created angels & man. They had the freedom to look into God's eyes so to speak and say "I reject you" God doen't make men say it or predestine them to say it. It's there own choice. There is no more self serving belief or prideful doctrine than election. God predetermined all mankind for relationship with Himself, even at the risk of knowing many would reject it. He does not want anyone to perish, but they will by choice.
