The guy did did have a way with words...

"Why bother with newspapers, if this is all they offer? Agnew was right. The press is a gang of cruel faggots. Journalism is not a profession or a trade. It is a cheap catch-all for f*ckoffs and misfits - a false doorway to the backside of life, a filthy p*ss-ridden little hole nailed off by the building inspector, but just deep enough for a wino to curl up from the sidewalk and masturbate like a chimp in a zoo-cage" -- H. S. Thompson - Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - Final paragraph - Chapter 13

    >>> But the central problem remains: how do you make a living once you've moved there?

Easy. Get a government job. The government is becoming the largest/only employer.

It is sad. In some of the small towns in eastern Colorado, along the Arkansas river, all that is left not boarded up is the Post Office and a liquor store.

Your welcome. Thanks for posting the article. I have a sister that lives in Lubbock. My daughter was at Palo Duro Canyon, a few weeks ago, with a church group. We live in SW Kansas.

I exchanged a couple of e-mails with this guy about a previous letter he wrote in the Amarillo paper. One that you posted last fall. (I think it was you, anyway.) Something about President Bush and the Carlyle Group. He recited the usual liberal propaganda and I responded with facts. He then accused me of bullying him and I didn't hear from him anymore.

He seemed nice enough but he's bought the liberal line hook, line and sinker. I doubt the kids, his students, pay much attention to him.

He's in the language arts department, here.... http://www.dumas-k12.net/dhs/Departments/Departments.htm

He must be young. Or not very bright.

No. I haven't seen the whole video. If there is a longer clip that shows what they were up to, and explains why the tractor was running, fine.... I'll take your word for it. All I was saying is that the caption. "placing a bomb along the roadside," doesn't fit the clip.

From looking at that clip, the tractor's exhaust is hot. So is the casing around the rear axel. It has obviously been running. Nor can I see a road anywhere. All I see is some fellows messing around with a tractor. It does look like the guy near the tractor has some type of weapon.

And, again, it is not that unusual to run a tractor at night. Particularly one with no cab, no air-conditioning and in an area where temps are regularly over 100 degrees. With the fan blowing the heat off the engine, toward the rear, it's almost unbearable to operate one in the daytime.

They are not planting anything. It is some sort of tillage equipment. You can see where soil has been worked. And working at night is not unusual... for farmers or militants.

It looks like they are planting potatoes instead of mines.

Do they use tractors to plant mines?

    >>That's nice - you are now an official majority of one. When you find them, someplace, let us know.

No. Many were fooled. Including me. Looking back, it is difficult to see how I could have been so wrong. How could I have doubted Saddam? It was obvious he was telling the truth. Just look at the facts....

    Saddam did have nerve gas.
He used it on the Iranians.
He used it on the Kurds.
He was experimenting with biological agents.
He was trying to get the equipment to build an a-bomb.
He did everything he could to keep UN inspectors out.
Then he had a change of heart. (This is the part that threw me.)
He said he destroyed all the WMD.
    He even offered "proof."
    The British doubted him.
    The CIA doubted him.
    Bill Clinton didn't believe him.
Nor did the democrats in the Senate.
Only our friends in the UN were willing to believe him.
That some in the UN were receiving kickbacks makes no difference.
That he tortured people was no reason to distrust him.

I just can't seem to get all this egg off my face. Obviously, I should have taken his word for it. I guess the only hope for those of us who doubted Saddam, is that while they are digging up all the mass graves, they will accidentally dig up some of these non-existent WMDs. If they don't, then we should apologize to Saddam. We should put him right back in power. Bush and his cabinet should resign. We should just drop all this War on Terror nonsense.

We just can't go around making mistakes like this without consequences. Can we?

Regarding the infamous "sneak and peek" provision... I'm not so sure that's such a bad thing. I'd rather have the cops sneak in first and be sure that they have the right place. Wouldn't you? Or would you rather they bust down your door in the middle of the night, blind you with flashbangs, taser your grandma, shoot anyone that looks like they might resist and then find out that it was your next-door neighbor with the drugs under his bed and the terrorists in his basement. They have been doing that for years... long before President Bush and the Patriot Act came along.

That is not to say they couldn't still screw up. But I'd think my odds would be better if they actually knew they had the right house before they come busting in. Mostly because, other than a couple of unlicensed software programs, I'm pretty sure they would find no contraband or terrorists whatsoever. And if they do find a terrorist, I'd much rather they apprehend him when I am safely out of range.

If you read this, come back. The Hutchinson News has gotten clear out of control. They have completely lost it. They do nothing but bash President Bush and conservatives day in and day out. I expect to read, any day now, that they have been out in the streets throwing rocks at people. Like the Palestinians. That seems to be the direction liberals are headed these days.

Not only that, there is another storm brewing over school finance in Kansas. While I don't understand the least little bit about it, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to like it. I would sure like to hear what everyone thinks about it.

Besides that, you always laughed at my jokes.

    Come back.

That's too funny. Maybe, since they lost their old name, we should send them some suggestions for a new one.

The "Don't pay any Attention to the Liberals Behind the Coalition" coalition.

Or the "Best Little Coalition in Kansas" coalition.

I'll bet John F'ing Kerry is going all out for the Pink endorsement. That way, he could use "F*#$ the Pain Away" as his theme song. (You ever see that video? Yuk. Makes Maddona look pretty tame.)
