Is this why the Donofrio v. Wells (NJ) case is still pending? Is it only after the Electoral College votes and Congress certifies the election, that the Supreme Court believes it may take action regarding the eligibility of presidential candidates? The cases currently before the court, except for the Berg (PA) case, are versus state secretaries of state, not against Barack Obama, but perhaps that does not make a difference. Is it similar to a prosecutor only allowed to prosecute after the crime and not before?

My daughter just watched it. She told me it about our founding documents and she said that the movie basically says it is not illegal to stage a revolution to overthrow our corrupt government. I'd like to hear what fellow freeper's think about this topic. I am not advocating the overthrow of our governement, only a discussion about the topic. And has anyone else seen the movie? I will be going this weekend to a movie near me.

Early on the morning of Dec. 8, 1941, nine Japanese fighter planes swooped down on Malalag Bay in the Philippines and strafed and sunk two U.S. Navy seaplanes at the very outset of World War II. All of the Americans escaped unharmed except Ensign Robert G. Tills, 23, of Manitowoc, Wis., who was cut down by machine gun bullets. "Ensign Robert Tills died in the fusillade of bullets from the Japanese strafers, the first American naval officer killed in the defense of the Philippines," the Naval Historical Center wrote. Tills' sister Jean was 11 years old at the time. "Our...

Republicans, no scratch that, conservatives method of trickle down economics involves tax cuts for everyone. This method gives everyone more money to use as they wish. We are accused of helping "Big Business" and the "Rich".The lefts method of trickle down economics is to steal money from taxpayers and give the funds directly to "Big Business" and hope they use it so it will trickle down.I perfer the conservative model. But I haven't heard this take on what we see and I think we can use this arguement to our benefit. What say yea!

In 1944, Ludwig von Mises published one of his least-known masterworks: Omnipotent Government: The Rise of the Total State and Total War. Drawing on his prewar experience in Vienna, watching the rise of the national socialists in Germany (the Nazis), who would eventually take over his own homeland, he set out to draw parallels between the Russian and German experience with socialism. It was common in those days, as it is in ours, to identify the Communists as leftist and the Nazis as rightists, as if they stood on opposite ends of the ideological spectrum. But Mises knew differently. They...

Let me start off by letting everyone know I am a white female thats 31 and I live in work in a predominatly black area in Maryland. I grew up in one of the poorest areas on the outskirts of Washington, DC. Today at work I got into a discussion with a co-worker who is a black male from another department. We always talk back and forth about politics, the economy or just shoot the breeze. He is for Obama and I am for McCain and I think we are both trying to figure out why the other is voting...

The Wall Street Journal reports that a federal grand jury in Los Angeles is investigating the so-called "Friends of Angelo" loan program at Countrywide Financial, under which influential borrowers received preferential terms on home loans. The reported borrowers under the program have included U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), former Fannie Mae Chief Executive Franklin Raines, and California state appeals court judge Richard Aldrich.

From Team McCain.... To Interested Parties: To address our current financial crisis, John McCain suspended his campaign and returned to Washington, D.C., today to help build a bipartisan consensus for a proposal that would protect the American taxpayer. Despite today's news reports, there never existed a "deal," but merely a proposal offered by a small, select group of Members of Congress. As of right now, there exists only a series of principles, including greater oversight and measures to address CEO pay. However, these principles do not enjoy a consensus in Congress. At today's cabinet meeting, John McCain did not attack...
